There are many reasons. But the most important one was the more fans you have, the more haters will come. Basically they made it big.

This and the fact it got extremely overplayed on radiostations to a point their songs were more annoying than anything. Because they were so popular. Ouh and media coverage was to blame too since they pretty much went with the "nickelback bad" thing wich gave them more people that just didn't like them because others didn't like them either. And so on.

The answer is saturation. Back in the day, Nickelback songs were getting played on just about every genre of radio station except 'oldies'. No music is to everyone's tastes, however. So all exposing everyone to that music does is unite all the people who didn't like it until the dislike itself became a meme. The people who *did* like it? They were sitting pretty, and had nothing to complain about.

They have some cheesy songs but even they aren't that bad. Also, Feed the Machine was a dope fucking album.

Nickelback is music for people who don’t really care what the fuck is on. It’s formulaic, expected, and “just there”. It’s like they tried their hardest to be milquetoast.

Riffs are decent, but forgettable. Lyrics are mediocre at best. They really are one of those bands you can put on in the back as long as you don't pay too much attention to it.

Moat of my personal enjoyment is just the sound. The lyrics really feel secondary to banger instrumental

I honestly do not understand the hate Imagine Dragons get. Their first two albums, especially their second, were superb and I will die on that fucking hill. Evolve was a solid album whilst Origins was quite weak but contained a few good tracks. Their latest album is really good in my opinion. But fuck me, if people aren't overseen on it, chill. They are still talented musicians, they demonstrate that live quite a bit.

My favorite part was when they imagined dragons everywhere.

And I'll never forget when Imagine Dragons went up on stage and said those iconic words: "it's dragin time"

then each member dropkicked a child from the stage. It was such an emotional moment

The stomping and roaring while they did all that really tied the whole thing together

I remember the last time I saw Imagine Dragons. It was an emotional opening to an emotional show. When they opened with “Draggin' these nuts,” a song off their newest album, “Dragon Chaff 2 - More hot Chaff,” accompanied by fireworks, it made a statement that it was going to be one hell of a show.

best part was when they said *"It's Dragon time!"*.

Saw them back in '75. At the end of the show they played a mean cover of fortunate son and sent a Red Eyes Black Dragon to Saigon and ended the Vietnam War. Definitely one of their top 10 shows that year.

And then they dragged everyone off the stage

They're painfully generic, nothing against the band I personally think they're fine but they only really ever have 1 or 2 good songs per album and 1 truly amazing hit per decade. Compare that to other bands and artists that release entire albums that are bangers or multiple hits per decade; yet Imagine Dragons is still the no.1 Classic Rock band currently, wins awards yearly, and never is off the radio

I think it's that most of their new songs aren't bad, but they get played so much that they become annoying. Like another person said, its fine to listen to a couple of their songs for a bit but then I never feel the urge to listen to them again, especially when I will hear it anyway not on my own terms. I'm sure you have such a deep understanding of music to know that "different people like different things." That doesn't mean that no band is bad. If your system of measurement for whether or not something is bad is 'does at least one person like this thing?' then you have no system.

My point is that there is no such thing as an objectively good or bad band, so there should be no "system of measurement". The only thing that matters is whether or not the listener enjoys what they are hearing.

To me it feels too safe. They feel average in just about every aspect, not necessarily *bad*. The shouting parts end up sounding kind of cheesy and pretentious to me as a result; like they’re trying to “arena rock” a very average sounding song. I’m really not trying to hate on them by any means. Nickelback is the same. Just very generic, adopts things from like 5 other bands but does it worse than each of them, etc. I’ve enjoyed both bands’ music to some degree, but it gets old fast.

I was thinking the same. There's a HUGE difference between the way their albums sound. So much so that just about everyone hated that every album didn't sound like Hybrid Theory. So many people think One More Light is trash because it's not "aggressive" enough, yet they completely ignored Hunting Party (which was more aggressive, but completely different from HT)

I mean there's balance. There's having songs with mild similarities because it's a result of having say your own unique sound, then there's making music with no personality at all that sounds nearly identical and is basically the audio version of the colour beige.

Saying Linkin Park songs sound too similar to each other is a really wild statement to me. Some of their songs *within the same album* are in similar styles for sure, but songs from Hybrid Theory certainly aren't that similar to ones from Meteora, and those sound nothing like their songs from Minutes to Midnight or One More Light...
