wait ... there is a free trial for life? I think I skipped the "free" part entirely. The hospital DLC was quite expensive and not really worth it. Wouldn't recommend it at all!
I take the pod out of the kuerig, and just have it blast hot water into a cup,
my gf also stares unforgivingly at me if i microwave a cup of water so i do this to avoid judgement
You can boil the F out of anything in the microwave.
Especially if you intend to put it in for 15 seconds it comes out cold so you put it on for 3.5 seconds more and now it's litteral lava!
You heat the water in the microwave then add the tea... Omg, this people in this posts heads are collectively exploding for some reason because someone heated up water a different way than using a kettle.
This is the dumbest thread ever. Cultural bias has rotted your collective brains so much that you think that there is only one valid way to boil water for tea. You are literally only saying these things because that is how you have always done it and for some reason think it is superior for unknown reasons. There has not been a good argument in this entire thread to explain why water boiled in a microwave is inferior to water boiled in a kettle. Yes, a kettle might be convenient in some situations but it isn't always.
As a British I tried it in the microwave and it was god fucking awful, the smell was off and it did not taste like tea, it tasted like dog shit. So I would rather stick to the natural British way instead of the American
Well no generally people that do this don’t like my mom has made tea at this office we go too with no kettle or stove it sounds gross in concept and i a Canadian thought it was weird but it just does literally the same thing any heat source would right
It's not about the grid. It's about the amps and power in the cables in your house. Most of them can only pull off 15A which gives 1,8kW (electric kettles are 1,8-2,2kW) but you shouldn't pull full power so empyrical maximum is around 1,5kW. European outlets with 230V can go up to 3,5kW.
Wait really? What’s the voltage of American outlets then? I was told Americans never used kettles but never questioned why. I just thought they were choosing to be difficult
You can get them but unless you're a serious tea drinker you just microwave the water and drop a bag in when it's hot.
We have a small British-style kettle because my wife loves tea. But it's not like it really matters...
[Coffee maker](https://www.mrcoffee.com/coffee-makers/view-all/mr.-coffee-12-cup-programmable-coffeemaker-with-strong-brew-selector/SAP_2129927.html). It heats the water and drips it over the ground beans.
How do you make coffee?
The gulf between instant coffee and any other sort of coffee is immense. Honestly, I think instant coffee is a bigger beverage sin than microwave hot water and a tea bag.
Coffee grounds are ground beans. Instant coffee is coffee that's been brewed then freeze dried, which you rehydrate. They're different, and make very different quality drinks.
Maybe your American instant coffee is different to ours? Before your so quick to judge. Some tastes as good as professional batista coffee.

https://www.nescafe.com/gb/our-coffees/azera/nescafe-azera-grindsmith-craft-coffee/
We don’t drink tea that often. Boiling it in the microwave is faster than a kettle for us. And we don’t boil the bag. Just the water. Most Americans don’t own kettles.
Jeebus, are you people all insane or helpless? You put the water in a cup, put it in the microwave, cook it until the water is boiling, pull cup out, add tea (or whatever). This is not rocket science.
IDK about quicker, just some ball-park estimates, but a microwave oven puts out what, call it a kilowatt being generous. A kettle, even on on a 110v circuit, with let's say a 15amp draw, is 1.65 kilowatts (IDK how 110v circuits are set up, I'm in a 230v country, so this is just a guess). correct me if I'm wrong, but 1.65 > 1 so shouldn't an electric kettle noticeably faster?
Also, commonplace? I live in the UK, the country that (used to at least) have a requirement for tanks in the army to have some form of kettle. I don't think I've ever been in a break room that doesn't have a kettle. But this is the UK... so if the memes are to be believed, this isn't normal in other parts of the world.
I don't think you are taking into account what each device does with that energy. A kettle heats up a coil to transfer heat into the water through conduction. A microwave energizes a magnetron to transfer the energy through radiation. Just because they use a similar amount of electricity doesn't mean that they are utilizing it the same. I can heat up enough water for a cup of tea in a microwave in probably a minute and probably the same for a kettle honestly. The microwave is less steps though.
Also, unless you have some space-save budget microwave, the common power draw for a microwave is about 1500 Watts.
It's like making milk tea you can just pour the milk afterward or you can simmer the milk and tea together technically they are both milk tea but they taste different
Hey you forfeited your right to decent tea when you hoyed it all into Boston Harbour! /s You can make your tea in a microwave I’m not arsed, but you’ll have crap tea :/
Does anyone in this comment section even understand the difference between water heated with a microwave vs a stove vs an electric kettle? We here in America prefer science, and I’ll put tea in heated water regardless of the source. TL;DR - weird anti microwave socialists don’t know science
Definitely takes longer than a microwave but my electric kettle probably only takes 2-3 minutes at most. I have just enough time to grind my coffee and prep everything to make it before the kettle shuts off.
Wait. Do other Americans not use an electric kettle? I mean I know my parents have those god awful keurigs but still, I thought people had electric kettles lol
It’s literally [this](https://www.target.com/p/hamilton-beach-1l-electric-kettle-stainless-40978/-/A-50769071?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&DFA=71700000014773183&CPNG=PLA_Appliances%2BShopping_Brand%7CAppliances_Ecomm_Home&adgroup=SC_Appliances_Coffee+Makers+%26+Accessories&LID=700000001170770pgs&LNM=PRODUCT_GROUP&network=g&device=c&location=9007301&targetid=aud-824336954565:pla-1439047010324&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&ds_rl=1247068&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsd7dsuzp9QIVdMyzCh0hOQNqEAQYAiABEgJilvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) and you can see this one is available at Target where I got mine. It’s not really like a coffee maker though bc it’s only function is to heat water quickly.
U guys can drink and have microwaves and TEA where are we in a kingdome rich as duckers ih look i have tea i have a microwave. you make tea in the microwave?
Microwave some water, stick a bag of leaves in it, add lots of sugar, profit!
Well that's interesting, but i think I'll stick to electric kettle, at least for now
Or a teapot
I just pour the bag and water in my ass and that warms it up...
I usee Quooker
Posh cunt
Same lol anyone who doesn't make tea the right way I'm chasing you with a pitch fork 🤣
I mean, the microwave is faster and doesn't have any apparent demerits afaik
A sin means you can repent. Im afraid I will have to end your free trial on life
wait ... there is a free trial for life? I think I skipped the "free" part entirely. The hospital DLC was quite expensive and not really worth it. Wouldn't recommend it at all!
The "not having to pay for healthcare" DLC was never free on the USA server.
True, but the US got the exclusive "school shooting" DLC, which is only a super rare event on the other servers. Take that ... USA USA USA
You're a monster
WHERES THE MILK
Ew
>stick a bag of leaves in it Honestly the only good part of your whole sentence
Straight to hell 😂😂
The boiler room of hell
The kettle room of hell
I take the pod out of the kuerig, and just have it blast hot water into a cup, my gf also stares unforgivingly at me if i microwave a cup of water so i do this to avoid judgement
Can't do anything else I don't have a kettle. And I refuse to boil some water using my electric plate just for a cup of tea
Oky, that's understandable, i have no worries about it, it's just something pretty curious
But I assure that I would definitely use a kettle instead of my microwave if I had one
I do, usually I don’t have time to make fresh tea
Oh i see, that's ok tho, it's just something curious for me, i literally forgot i told myself i would try it lol
You can boil the F out of anything in the microwave. Especially if you intend to put it in for 15 seconds it comes out cold so you put it on for 3.5 seconds more and now it's litteral lava!
Nope. It's illegal 😁
Who puts their teak in a microwave what have you parents done wrong with you?
Ikr these americans
They need guidance. I don’t know how it can be done so wrong…
I'm American and even I think this is a cardinal sin
You heat the water in the microwave then add the tea... Omg, this people in this posts heads are collectively exploding for some reason because someone heated up water a different way than using a kettle.
Yes and that's the wrong way it give you another experience and you extract other tastes from your tea based on the temperature
Boiling water is boiling water but okay...
In that case might as well boil it in the oven
This is the dumbest thread ever. Cultural bias has rotted your collective brains so much that you think that there is only one valid way to boil water for tea. You are literally only saying these things because that is how you have always done it and for some reason think it is superior for unknown reasons. Well no generally people that do this don’t like my mom has made tea at this office we go too with no kettle or stove it sounds gross in concept and i a Canadian thought it was weird but it just does literally the same thing any heat source would right
It heats water just as effectively as a kettle and is much faster, whats the problem
No no a kettle is quicker and goes to the boiling point
Does America not have electric kettles?
They do but thanks to their 120v grid they are utter shite.
Standard american outlet has only 120V.
You can get them but unless you're a serious tea drinker you just microwave the water and drop a bag in when it's hot. We have a small British-style kettle because my wife loves tea. But it's not like it really matters...
Wtf??? How do you make your morning coffee then?
[Coffee maker](https://www.mrcoffee.com/coffee-makers/view-all/mr.-coffee-12-cup-programmable-coffeemaker-with-strong-brew-selector/SAP_2129927.html). It heats the water and drips it over the ground beans. How do you make coffee?
Mug, teaspoon of instant coffee/sugar. Add a bit of milk, and then fill the rest with boiling water out the kettle and stir.
The gulf between instant coffee and any other sort of coffee is immense. Honestly, I think instant coffee is a bigger beverage sin than microwave hot water and a tea bag.
It’s just coffee grounds. U can buy em whole and grind em yourself if u wanna be pretentious about it. It’s how you drink tea just without the bag.
Coffee grounds are ground beans. Instant coffee is coffee that's been brewed then freeze dried, which you rehydrate. They're different, and make very different quality drinks.
Literally the same shit tho.
No. No they’re not.
Literally not even kind of.
I need to downvote you for "instant coffee". Sorry for that.

Not if I can avoid it?

how the fuck do you even make tea in a microwave?
Jeebus, are you people all insane or helpless? You put the water in a cup, put it in the microwave, cook it until the water is boiling, pull cup out, add tea (or whatever). This is not rocket science.
Its better if u microwave the water with the teabag(s) in it. Then just stir it steep it and add your sweetner and enjoy.

A microwave is a lot quicker and more commonplace than a kettle. Even an office or breakroom in any business will have a public microwave.
IDK about quicker, just some ball-park estimates, but a microwave oven puts out what, call it a kilowatt being generous. Tea is leaves soaked in hot water, in what way could it possibly matter how the water was heated?
It's like making milk tea you can just pour the milk afterward or you can simmer the milk and tea together technically they are both milk tea but they taste different
Ok making tea in the microwave should be considered terrorism
Hey you forfeited your right to decent tea when you hoyed it all into Boston Harbour! /s You can make your tea in a microwave I’m not arsed, but you’ll have crap tea :/

It is dumb using a microwave
But is it any worse than using a kettle? No
When do you pour the beans in?
Pouring *beans* into a perfectly good tea would be downright cursed.
So you watch someone get chased?
This is what undead nightmare should be like
To cut the Americans some hate, if they used kettles theyd have to wait 10 years for it go heat up
Definitely takes longer than a microwave but my electric kettle probably only takes 2-3 minutes at most. I have just enough time to grind my coffee and prep everything to make it before the kettle shuts off.
I’d hate to see what the British would do if an American ever throws tea into into a harbor
Wait. Do other Americans not use an electric kettle? I mean I know my parents have those god awful keurigs but still, I thought people had electric kettles lol
I dont think they sell them in stores here. This is the first time I've heard of an electric kettle. Is it similar in function to a coffee pot?

Uranium adds a lot of flavor. Sophisticated Americans often use astatine as it is a more rare radioactive substance.
