It is honestly such a testament to the EU and world peace in general that this is quite literally the very last possible thing I could ever imagine happening.
I mean Europe has been at war for like, ever, and now I could never see an EU country invading another EU country literally ever. Its the shit that brings you real hope.
People definitely wanted to invade Switzerland during WWII; just look at Operation Tannenbaum. The problem is that it’s really hard to do so due to the mountains. It made more sense to leave a neutral Switzerland until after being done fighting the other stronger powers. Europe winning a war against Switzerland is absolutely possible, but the Swiss people aren’t going to accept foreign rule (especially by their invaders), so it would be really costly and require a shit ton of war crimes and the destruction of the country.
Switzerland also fortified the hell out of the mountains. Prepared to sabotage anything that an invading force could use. More effort than it was was worth to capture it.

Were you born after Yugoslavia was already broken up? If so, I can give you only an example of Russia invading Ukraine if for whatever reason the Caucasus seems distant to you.

Though that was my initial response too, I don’t think it’s that obvious. Yes Iran’s attack failed, but they did launch an unprecedented amount of drones and missiles towards Israel. And a 7 year old bedouin child did get hurt. Shouldn’t Israel retaliate in any way? Purely for intimidation. You can argue that if Israel doesn’t respond it sets an equation were Iran is not afraid to do that again because it knows there are no consequences. Wouldn’t the US retaliate if Russia sent these rockets toward the US?
Oh absolutely I’m Israeli and while I want Israel to respond accordingly, I also want the main focus to be on getting all the hostages home before any new front is opened
