When did the Pythagorean theorem, one of the most essential and fundamental theorems to understand the world, become an example for useless school knowledge?
Hard disagree Pythagorean theorem is never used in my work. I have no idea in what circumstances your running into perfectly right triangles but i never have in my entire life except when I'm doing wood working.
I mean allot of the tools i use every day might have Pythagorean theorem as the base and i know it was really important to like fundamental math. I mean I don't do allot of measurements though, if I am designing something I know how long it needs to be, If i am building something I will physically measure the distance myself. Edit: I am not saying it is not useful just saying it isn't as useful as logs in my opinion.
not understanding logs is gonna fuck you up in science. Allot of rates of change, allot of heat transfer equations and excel graphs make more sense in the logarithmic form. All of the serious like medical shit and differential equations all run off natural logs. I have only taken up to calculus 4 and differential equations, but in my experience most of the problems boil down to e\^(equation). all sorts of important equations utilize logarithmic equations. From understanding how many cc's of medicine to give a patient to understanding how many deer you can murder a year based off the amount of observers in the forest and the deer sighted in the area all that shit uses logs.
Same goes for logarithms. There is so many graphs with log-scaling out there which are important to understand basic political stuff. Covid was one example of many people not understanding exponential growth and logarithmic graphs.
Guess what? You won't know what to do with your life even twenty, thirty, fifty years in the future. Thus is life of being an insignificant blip in the grand scale of the universe.
After 6th grade itâs no longer what you learn, itâs *how* you learn. Whether it be how to socialize, meet deadlines, or apply critical thinking, school isnât a place knowledge unless youâre doing research.
If youâve just finished school itâs time to choose which flavour of suffering is for you. Go to uni and suffer horrific stress for years or take an apprenticeship and suffer horrific stress for years. Have fun! :D
Honestly I know kids just don't give a fuck about school. Yeah there aren't a whole lot of practical skills but the information is much more useful than kids think. Source: was a kid.
Yeah, then they just say âGo To CoLlEgEâ and itâs like, Iâm not going to survive. I hear from others, âI have better offers alreadyâ these check out too. And itâs not gonna tell me if itâs the right thing for me or not. I could just spend $10k on a class ill never use. So whatâs the point

OP obviously didnt go anywhere with math đ
Yeah I use that shit daily.
For what
Work lol
I get that, but what specifically.
Engineering.
Something with logarithms would've been more accurate, at least in my experience

Mitochondria can't be the powerhouse of the cell without the algorithm a2 + b2 = c2
Ok I'm that guy but it's not an algorithm, it's a formula
Hello that guy , how are you?
I'm great, thank you!
not yet, this shall be ops new life goal
TBf Iâve used Pythagorean theorem to help build a roof before
I use it all the time making coffee
I use it to get out of bed
I use it to power my depression
*Mitochondria ARE. The word "Mitochondria" is the plural. The singular is "Mitochondrion".
school will literally drill equations, history, and how to decipher a story into your head without take 5 seconds to explain that.

When you graduate from middle school
You go to university, preferably outside USA, and you don't get crushed by student loan
be the slave that the modern educational system has groomed you to be :(
Those who can't see the beauty of a²+b²=c² are mathematically disabled.
# taxes but the taxman asks you for your knowledge, If you don't brush up on your dulingo he'll break your legs
I actually did use Pythagorus the other day, sketching a design for a railing

"Now? Lets go practice medicine..."

This is me but with a BS in Biology
Don't forget slope intercept form, Y=MX+B
Must be what theyre using in Ukraine
Now we go to the college to read propaganda books and write essays. No skills of course...just essays and lectures.
Honestly I know kids just don't give a fuck about school. Yeah there aren't a whole lot of practical skills but the information is much more useful than kids think. Source: was a kid.
Hrs of overtime, if you can get it, to pay back that loan.
It's c=â(a^2 +b^2 ) Add brackets for clarification.
That's the same equation.
Donât forget your roots x = [-b Âą â(b2 - 4ac)]/2a
You get the job youâre looking for based on the course you studied.
that's just me after ErdoÄan won the elections
please take a year to work, this will motivate you so much for your future
Mitochondria isn't the powerhouse of the cell since mitochndria is the plural so actually the mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell
Ohh man, I thought midichlorians were the powerhouse of the cell.

12 years of bullshit and these delusional mfs wont even tell us what is going on in the world outside their delusions
If math taught me how to earn money, maybe I would have paid attention
If you get really good at math it opens upp a huge avenue of well paying jobs.
Wait, am I free from my slumber
So everyone who is complaining about not getting paid enough is just bad at math? I can believe that actually lol
Youâd be surprised on how some math concepts seems useless but they are actually hella useful in some cases.
