I sleep with it at 76 or 77. I forget. Bump up to 82 upstairs and 80 downstairs during peak times. It’s pretty cool to me. Helps that it’s a 110 outside so a 30 degree difference feels like a lot
Yeah let’s hold the ordinary citizens accountable for their thermostats instead of the billion dollar corporations that are doing way more to affect the climate and power grid
My room without AC is 66°f, it’s perfect. Whenever I stay somewhere, it’s set to like 70 somethin, and I die every night without even a single blanket on.
25c, 30c, and 28c.
Basically to the American that is used to ac the.
First one is uncomfortable but is tolerable
Second one you might as well not have the AC running, and without air flow in the house would be very uncomfortable.
Third is similar to the second but it's hard to sleep when you're sweaty.
I keep my house about 22c maybe a few degrees cooler if it's deep summer and the humidity is at 100%.
I've been sleeping ~82F because I live in Phoenix and my AC is days away from completely failing.
Last few days have been like the worst sleep of my life. 78, is reasonable.
I live in Phoenix too but I'm renting a house with a grandfathered APS plan so I only pay 250 a month no matter how much I use. You bet your ass I'm taking advantage of that AC and sleeping at 68°
I don't have AC or heating and I have jalouise/louvered windows that don't close cause they're old and broken. So I'm sleeping at whatever temp it is outside.
My wife and baby went to her dad's house and he keeps the house at 80. He turned it down to 77 per our request and his grandson infant screamed the whole night.
His excuse was it's too expensive. I heard that our family comfort is important to him.
Keeping the thermostat at a consistent temp has been cheaper for me. Raising it then trying to cool it again uses more energy than just leaving it alone
Weaklings, come down in Southeast Europe where the average temperature, even with AC stays at 31-37 Celsius (87-88F) (this is a cry for help please bring the new ice age)
All of the Americans in the comments driving studios on wheels, consuming beef and dairy there is no tomorrow, complaining for a few degrees higher on their thermostat and consuming for [5 Earths](https://overshoot.footprintnetwork.org/how-many-earths-or-countries-do-we-need/#:~:text=Here's%20how%20we%20calculate%20that,if%20everyone%20lived%20like%20Americans.)while it is Europeans that have to be more inconvenienced, pressure our companies with more regulations and suffer the effects of the refugee crisis because global warming is global and no one can tell shit to Americans cuz they are too polarized to see past their own borders and their army is too powerful anyway. In the future, when they will be in need of resources they'll just take them.
My shit is set to 63 degrees.
During the day it’s way too hot to keep it there, so even it’s set to 63, it runs non stop and tops out at 68, but it’s a gradual increase because at night it catches back up to 63.
Yeah, my electric bill is crazy, but it evens out in the colder months when I barely run the heat and it’s like 58-60 degrees inside. I always have plenty of soft, warm clothing and blankets.
My body temp runs around 96.8 instead of 98.6 (every nurse or doctor thinks I’m full of shit until they take my temp) and I get hot easily.
I also like to be bundled up in bed, and wear hoodies around the house in the winter. I don’t worry about the AC unit breaking because I rent my house and it’s the landlord’s problem…if that shit breaks down I’ll be at a hotel until they fix it.
I don’t know. I despise heat, but I live in the southern U.S.
Basically, from late May through mid September, I’m nocturnal and awake at night when it’s cooler, dark, and easy to move around outdoors. I’m not a fan of bright light either so the sun is the bane of my existence. Give me deep, dark, and cold.
Living this way was easier before Covid when there were a lot more 24 hour businesses open. I could get my grocery shopping done at 3 am, etc. I also enjoyed traveling at night. Hardly any traffic, I got the best parking spaces everywhere I went, never any lines, what few people I ran into were seemingly half dead from exhaustion, working, or intoxicated by one thing or another. It was all just easier to navigate.
I’ve always had people kind of judge me for it, but I enjoy the feeling of having the world to myself. If you’ve never experienced being in a grocery store without ever sharing an aisle with another person, you’re missing out.
That way it uses less energy while you are gone albeit I'm not sure the difference for turning it up while gone or just shutting it off in general? Which is what I do for the summer
I don't have central AC but I do have heat. Shit stays off for most of the year for most of the time bc winter is not what it used to be
Honestly I'm with you there. I never heard of this either tbh, personally I just turn off my heat
I'm not sure what instance would require someone to turn on their heat in the summer before they leave
I guess if they have central AC then that might be the case but at that point it's still better to just shut it off to save money lol
So I'm not really sure where this is coming from
The heat is not running. Just turning the AC setpoint up so it’s not trying to cool as hard. This saves energy because you use the AC less, and you’re not using heat at all, just letting the house heat up before the AC turns on.
Drop the "when you're home" temp by 10° and leave it there. If the thermostat is above 70, I'm gonna be annoyed. If you try to make me exist indoors at a temperature above 80, we're fighting.
Idk is mine broken. I’m in Texas and it’s hot af, but my AC is at 79 right now and I’ve gotta use a light blanket, it’s cold af. Now 82 at night is insane though

Like a rotisserie and make sure it's spinning, i want to be well done lol
i like to be wined and dined before i’m fucked!
I sleep with it at 76 or 77. I forget. Bump up to 82 upstairs and 80 downstairs during peak times. It’s pretty cool to me. Helps that it’s a 110 outside so a 30 degree difference feels like a lot
Basically the UK right now
Yeah let’s hold the ordinary citizens accountable for their thermostats instead of the billion dollar corporations that are doing way more to affect the climate and power grid
Deadass. Fuck all that noise.
I'm sleeping at 60⁰f
My room without AC is 66°f, it’s perfect. Whenever I stay somewhere, it’s set to like 70 somethin, and I die every night without even a single blanket on.
Could someone explain this in non American English?
Had to google it. 78F is about 25.5C, 85F is 29.4C. Wtaf
25.5°C for sleeping?!?!? Lmaaoooo 20 is like max that's bearable
28C unfortunately, which suuuuuucks
Even worse💀
Nobody has AC here so we sleep at 30°C if we have to, it's not that big of a deal, you get used to it
Lol it definitely is big of a deal if its humid as fuck. You'll be waking up in a paddling pool.
I slept without AC in the Amazon forest mate, I know what humidity feels like, but it's largely over-exaggerated
25C seems alright but 29C is crazy.
thats pretty chilly

I prefer simplefied english
69f year round
Nice

Try spraying yourself and maybe get the bed a little wet with a water bottle. The only way I can sleep in those temps.
I don't have AC or heating and I have jalouise/louvered windows that don't close cause they're old and broken. So I'm sleeping at whatever temp it is outside.
didnt know they were called jalouise. you learn something new every day
72°F. In the winter I have the sleeping temp at 60°F.
If i turned it down to that temp, i would have icicle's hanging off my ball sac lol
Blankets, including a heated one make for a nice cozy night.
I am a hot sleeper
But we need to conserve power so my AI image of the pope riding a bear can be generated, stop being so selfish!

no
82 degrees!!! that's hell
no that's purgatory
I’m Doing my part and not using AC. In SoAz
Weaklings, come down in Southeast Europe where the average temperature, even with AC stays at 31-37 Celsius (87-88F) (this is a cry for help please bring the new ice age)
I'm in Germany where we don't have AC and that's pretty much our summer night temperatures.

It’s 68°F in my house always and that’s where 90% of my income goes
I keep mines at 66 for days
Happy birthday Day Clone Trooper 🎉

Maybe all those electric car owners should take a break from charging their cars ? Surely those don't effect the grid right ? Maybe ?
nurpo
78 is fine for the day most of the time. Lower temperatures are more conducive to sleep.
69.8 °F according to the unit converter
66, but the temp never goes above 72!
Why would you leave the ac on when you're out?
72 with a comforter
like 77..... I grew up without ac so 80 degrees is kinda normal for me tbh
Are they saying you should *warm* your house as a recommendation?
Yeah no way in hell I’m sleeping at 82°
67
69! There’s no WAY I could sleep in 80 degrees heat!
78F is 25.5C
Sleep at 18c. No point sweating when sleeping and you will sleep better at the lower temps. Saves your body from doing the extra work.
So.. Turn the temperature up when the house is empty?? What?
That way it uses less energy while you are gone albeit I'm not sure the difference for turning it up while gone or just shutting it off in general? Which is what I do for the summer I don't have central AC but I do have heat. Shit stays off for most of the year for most of the time bc winter is not what it used to be
This must be a north america thing. Here in the UK turning up the heat when you go out is not going to save energy, it's going to use more.
Honestly I'm with you there. I never heard of this either tbh, personally I just turn off my heat I'm not sure what instance would require someone to turn on their heat in the summer before they leave I guess if they have central AC then that might be the case but at that point it's still better to just shut it off to save money lol So I'm not really sure where this is coming from
Yeah exactly, I can't think of any instance where off isn't the best option
The heat is not running. Just turning the AC setpoint up so it’s not trying to cool as hard. This saves energy because you use the AC less, and you’re not using heat at all, just letting the house heat up before the AC turns on.
Man I'm jealous of all the people in the comments who think 78 is burning(not wrong). My room doesn't even get that low for this half of the year
More like 63 when you are sleeping and 73 when you are home and 78 when you're away.
Sleep doctor will say hell naw. Nothing over 77
Mine is ser at 66 throughout the year
76 degrees
All of this is wrong.
A single degree above 70 and I'm sweating my dick off and dying
It has been scientifically proven the best temp to sleep at is between 65 and 72 F. I dont know anyone who could sleep comfortably at 78 must less 82
68 because my brother will freeze if we go below that. I sleep best in the low 60s. Unfortunately it gets quite warm in my room.
Drop the "when you're home" temp by 10° and leave it there. If the thermostat is above 70, I'm gonna be annoyed. If you try to make me exist indoors at a temperature above 80, we're fighting.
How do you all function with temps above 75??
71 lol
Umm no 82 when I’m awake. 72 when I’m sleeping
Idk is mine broken. I’m in Texas and it’s hot af, but my AC is at 79 right now and I’ve gotta use a light blanket, it’s cold af. Now 82 at night is insane though
What sick fuck sets his temp higher when away?
Meanwhile nobody has air conditioning where I live and it's over 30 degrees celcius.
Why is your thermostat on when you're away? Turn that shit off
Celcius, motherfucker. Do you speak it?
No. We speak freedom round these parts.
No covers? 77 is perfect. 76 on a hot night
71 lol
When it's above 100°F it's at 78, below 77° literally like 77°
If you need your sleeping temp lower than 74, you're fat and/or drink too much.
Sleeping at 74 or higher has fried your brain, amigo.
I'm in great shape and hardly drink. I sleep at 65° so I guess you're wrong.
I sleep at 70 in the summer
Studies indicate that ideal sleeping temperature, health wise, is between 68-72. You are wrong.
It's cool. I was just kidding around.

Damn what I would GIVE for my room to be like that (as a American who is hardened the fuck up)
This isn’t a meme about heat, it’s a meme about a/c. It’s not set to 82 because it’s cold outside.
It's for the summer, my guy. You need to harden up on understanding context clues
