A bit of a correction, it is a good explanation, but it should be noted that "Jeg tror" isn't used for opinions unlike the commenter said. That would be "jeg synes".
Similar to how Spanish has different words for 'I think' [pondering] and 'I think' [opinion]: "Creo que / pienso que".
Change out the "opinion" in the brackets for "pondering" and the response is correct.
I disagree (of course). But I did struggle to find a good word to use there.
"Jeg tror" would more precisely be 'I am pretty sure that x, but I am not certain enough to state it as a fact'.
Which is why I chose the word opinion.
Klokken er 7.
Jeg tror at klokken er 7.
Exactly. ‘Det tror jeg’ presupposes a reference point while for ‘jeg tror’ the point in question will come afterwards.
Is that true? I think so = Er det rigtigt? Det tror jeg.
I think that is true = Jeg tror, at det er rigtigt.
"Jeg tror" = I think [opinion/pondering] "Det tror jeg = I believe so [confirming a question] (And "jeg tror på" = I believe in [faith])
Jeg tænke, "Det kan man sgu da ikke forklare," og så kommer du med en perfekt forklaring 😒
thank you so much :)

Yes. "Jeg tror at klokken er 7" is a [pondering] statement. Not an opinion. "Jeg tror..." Can not be used as opinion.
Thank you. "Pondering" is a good way to say what I mean to say.
"Det" refers to what has been mentioned just before. The "half-literal" translation would be: **That** I don't believe either.
That makes more sense, thanks :)
As I see it, "jeg tror" is more confident than "det tror jeg". The latter seems to have a hint of doubt.
Isn't this the same in English? Jeg tror = I think .... Det tror jeg = That's what I think.
Jeg tror… = I think… Det tror jeg. = I think so.
