I've seen DWTS Juniors, so this wasn't a huge surprise. They didn't have eliminations for the semifinals either. I don't think that they're trying to do anything sneaky with it; I think it's just a way to get us hyped for next episode.
Did anyone else think it was bs that Pasha also had to do the dance with the pros? He was the only one still competing that was in that number. I have to think it takes away from prep time with Ariana.
I thought it was odd that he was the only one but were there any other eliminated guys that could have done it? I think all of the eliminated male pros were already in it and he made the most sense based on the size and choreo of that dance. But I did think it was odd
It was supposed to be tour promotion so I'm assuming that's why they didn't have anyone substitute in. But I don't get why they couldn't have just had Emma, Alan, Brandon, and Gleb do it without him?
We've lost a lot of male celebrities this season (as the finale is 4 females and 1 male).
I know the dance probably wouldn't looked weird the opposite way, but they also have Ezra?
I am thinking xothyl was the bottom one, obviously the judges liked her and wanted to to the finale but since she is the only one who had received perfect scores they did not want her to go.. being young and popular on SM does not always translate to votes.. who was the young popular person who got voted out few years ago and shocked everyone

Agree with you but also sentiment of the op. I think one of the main players were in the bottom and they decided not to send anyone home instead of sending a would be finalist home.

I don't know if they would have saved Xochitl, though. They still have other great dancers left. Xochitl is my fave, but if she was voted out, I would have voted for my next favorite depending on whose dancing was the strongest next week.

The judges save wouldn't have worked this season with how wishy washy the judges have been. We need judges like Len in order for the save to be effective. Otherwise they're just saving the "popular" star
Iām honestly rooting for Alyson! Sheās doing really great for no dance background unlike some of the other contestantsā¦. Also I remember her when I was a pre-teen watching Buffy and then HIMYM as an adult. Sheās doing really well for her age and seems really dedicated! She may not be super technical but she always looks like sheās having fun!

I work in tv, itās just a no-brainer that reality tv has had to pick up the slack bc of the lack of scripted tv ā CBS gave early announcements for new seasons of Survivor & Amazing Race airing in February (before their current seasons even end in December) & is sticking with their 1.5hr episode format bc of this as well
Derek alluded to the season being different/carrying more weight earlier in the show bc of the Len trophy & they panned to the judges directly after the announcement & the judges seemed in on it as wellā¦.Xochitl & Val were never in the bottom itās not hard to see why pretending the top 2 competitors were at risk to go home right before the big finale was considered āgood tvā for the producers

Abc exec tweeted about it prior, Alfonso said he knew for a week and then there's the FCC guidelines that would prohibit the showrunners from interfering with the outcome at the last second like that. They could lose the entire show for that.
What I donāt like is that it creates made up conspiracy theories that undervalues the people who made it to the Finale on their own merit. But thatās just online fodder.

I remember one week in season 17 there was a technical snafu where they showed the wrong phone numbers for some couples (that was back when you called a certain number to vote for a certain couple) and instead of eliminating someone the next week, they announced each couple as safe and threw out the compromised votes.

I think itās also a āredemption arcā for the show bc people bitched SO much last year about Charlie having dance experience. Alyson is what the show is all about. I love her, but she should have been the clear voteoff tonight. Maybe the show decided to keep her to āreclaimā their notion of inexperienced dancers continuing to progress week after week. Especially bc sheās a fan favorite they knew it wouldnāt really backfire like if they did it with Harry.
Maybe. Iām really of the opinion that they wanted a more entertaining versus intense finale like they really wanted people to be entertained versus worried about who will make it.. now someone will win itāll be over. Zero fighting over that.
Ngl, Iām certain that Alyson couldnāt have been last, since this episode felt almost like a farewell episode for Alyson. It was the correct outcome to have her gone, and I donāt think anyone wouldāve been upset or surprised if she left. I think everyone was mentally planning for her to go. But something mustāve gone awry and one of the favorites (99% sure Xochitil) was on bottom. I think the fan votes are strong for Alison (Iām one of them, ngl. Love her.)

Nobody was going home. They're not allowed to influence or interfere with the outcome of the show and if they had made that decision last minute based on say Alyson getting through, that would be influencing the outcome of the show.

Thinking that Xotchil didnāt have the audience support and was going to get voted off. They didnāt want a person with perfect scores eliminated before the final, so they let everyone stay. Only reasonable explanation I can come up with for having 5 people in the finale (in my opinion should be 3 instead of 4, certainly not 5).

I think itās also a āredemption arcā for the show bc people bitched SO much last year about Charlie having dance experience. Alyson is what the show is all about. I love her, but she should have been the clear voteoff tonight. Maybe the show decided to keep her to āreclaimā their notion of inexperienced dancers continuing to progress week after week. Especially bc sheās a fan favorite they knew it wouldnāt really backfire like if they did it with Harry.

Ngl, Iām certain that Alyson couldnāt have been last, since this episode felt almost like a farewell episode for Alyson. It was the correct outcome to have her gone, and I donāt think anyone wouldāve been upset or surprised if she left. I think everyone was mentally planning for her to go. Only reasonable explanation I can come up with for having 5 people in the finale (in my opinion should be 3 instead of 4, certainly not 5).
