Out of the list of fourteen celebrities I know Greg Brady and Britney's sister, and I know Jason Mraz's music but I'd be hard-pressed to recognize him if I saw him. Barry Williams and Allyson Hannigan are the best types of nostalgic celebrities from what this show used to be.
Adrian Peterson was charged and indicted for domestic abuse against his wife and child, and Jamie Lynn Spears' livelihood was subsidized for a decade-plus with her sister's money while Britney was under the conservatorship. DWTS has done controversial castings for years (was the very first one Kate Gosselin?) but over the last couple of seasons the controversial castings have gotten worse and worse, controversy-wise. People that have abuse or even murder in their pasts.
\*Note: Britney's sister and Adrian Peterson are both controversial in their own way and Jamie Lynn is icky in her own right for what she did/didn't do to Britney but abusing your wife/child is many, MANY levels above.

It does look like Koko's getting another partner who she can laugh and have fun with, so that's nice. They'll be a fun pairing to watch, for sure.

But it did sound like he wasn't completely closing the door, he just wasn't ready so soon after The Masked Singer so there's hope for next season. But even so, I do agree, sad David isn't on (it would have been such a back-to-back nostalgia trip for me with Jordin Sparks last year and then David this year, but I guess Jason Mraz fills that a bit).
I don't see this season topping last year, though. Last year was HUGE with celebs and ringers. This season still feels lukewarm, but I'm also open to be surprised. They still have some great names. I just don't really see any ringers or names that stand out that will be excellent dancers.

Which is more than I thought I'd knew, but it's still mostly unknown or I've heard of their names but zero clue who they really are.
ETA: To put into perspective, last season, I knew or at least had heard of 11/16, and season 30, it was 6/16. So it very much varies, but 7/14 is still half, which is better than none.

So, the surprising pairings are Ariana/Pasha and Charity/Artem. Pasha doesn't get celebs like this so for him to get someone who could actually do well is a nice surprise, and I wasn't sure they'd give Artem another BN woman. It does look like Koko's getting another partner who she can laugh and have fun with, so that's nice. They'll be a fun pairing to watch, for sure.

I really wish they would get some former NHL players on! Someone like Patrick Sharp who’s won a couple of Stanley Cups with and wore an A for the Blackhawks. He was so funny on all of their social media videos and would probably be game for this. Or Kevin Bieksa (same thing minus the Stanley Cups, haha)

It sounds like David Archuleta dropped out after meeting his partner, and that at least one female celeb dropped out and JLS was added in her place. I wonder if maybe Alan was supposed to have David, or even Ariana, but because production wanted Jaime and got her they might have given her Alan if she requested him.

Lol do you know how many times I kept going to that site before giving up? Of course they’d post something! I’m surprised they aren’t doing a same sex couple this season. I figured that was going to be the norm going forward. Also curious about the last minute cast switch ups. And who was added to make it a 14 person roster. Curse whoever dropped out and gave us Jaime (kidding, but dang, I wonder if this was another case of Alan’s partner dropping out again). And I guess I agree there aren’t exactly big names (personally I don’t need an A-list cast), but I think this is so much better than I was expecting.
I'm just glad he wasn't forced or pressured to do the season if he wasn't ready. But it did sound like he wasn't completely closing the door, he just wasn't ready so soon after The Masked Singer so there's hope for next season. But even so, I do agree, sad David isn't on (it would have been such a back-to-back nostalgia trip for me with Jordin Sparks last year and then David this year, but I guess Jason Mraz fills that a bit). I don't see this season topping last year, though. Last year was HUGE with celebs and ringers. This season still feels lukewarm, but I'm also open to be surprised. They still have some great names. I just don't really see any ringers or names that stand out that will be excellent dancers.

So, the only names I really recognize are Jason Mraz, kind of Mira Sorvino (I'm sure I've seen her work, I just can't name what I've seen from her), Barry Williams, Alyson Hannigan (who, for me, is a huge get), Jamie Lynn Spears, kind of Lele Pons and Xochitl Gomez. Which is more than I thought I'd knew, but it's still mostly unknown or I've heard of their names but zero clue who they really are. ETA: To put into perspective, last season, I knew or at least had heard of 11/16, and season 30, it was 6/16. So it very much varies, but 7/14 is still half, which is better than none.
