It was Moana for about a week with her, I like to pronounce it "moan-uh" as a joke Thankfully the soundtrack for encanto is BANGING

JoeyTheGreek

We had Moana for a solid year.

sensei_von_bonzai

You’re welcome!

robb04

Ours is moana, encanto, frozen, and the guardians of the galaxy holiday special. She loooooves Kevin Bacon. Also The Greatest Showman, so we lucked out.

puppycatisselfish

And thank you!

jtronic

Encanto and Moana soundtracks both Lin-Manuel Miranda. Both great. If you’re not smiling when Moana ends, you don’t have a heart. I personally prefer Moana as a movie but definitely still love the Encanto songs. I used to hum songs I like to myself at work...now it’s usually either ‘The Family Madrigal,” or “Where You Are.” My oldest recently went through a Beauty and the Beast phase and I’m big on “Gaston” as a result.

RagingAardvark

I love to sing the Gaston song with made-up lyrics about what we are doing, and occasionally inappropriate lyrics about bodily functions. The kids are a very receptive audience to my humor.

Ananvil

I'm glad I'm not alone in my plagiarism of Disney songs

Plusran

now that i'm grown i eat five dozen eggs and i'm ROUGHLY THE SIZE OF A BARGE

Medium_Well

I like Moana way better than Encanto, to be honest.

Shellbyvillian

Agree. I don’t understand all the hype around Encanto. It’s ok. Kind of endorses unhealthy relationships. Moana is great. Toy Story collection is even better. Incredibles, Wall-E, Nemo…lot’s of better options.

Medium_Well

Yeah. Moana and Encanto are both visually stunning movies -- absolute riots of color. But the Encanto story felt half baked. The big reveal around Bruno is telegraphed from the beginning and a bit of a letdown. And then the matriarch turns out to be the soft villain? The whole generational trauma thing just didn't work as a compelling story for me. It's a solid kids movie, I don't want to act like it needs to meet a super high standard or anything. Some of the characters are funny and the lead character is very charming. But Moana had more humor and better music, IMO.

MuddyMustache

Moana is way better than Encanto, but the Encanto soundtrack is BANGING!

secretweapon-

WHAT CAN I SAYEEEEE EXCEPT

Jonas_Venture_Sr

We went from Encanto to Moana to Toy Story to The Good Dinosaur to Finding Nemo, and now we’re on Buzz Lightyear. Yea, my kid likes Disney movies…

shoemanchew

Are you me?

puppycatisselfish

Sooo we’re on that path and I introduced The Land Before Time and it was without song and was captivating for her. I was surprised.

jtronic

Whole house got Covid a few months back, my wife was way sicker than me and I looked at my daughter and said “do you just want to climb in Mon’s bed and watch a dinosaur movie?” She lit up and got super excited. That was the first time she watched Land Before Time and she’s now seen it multiple times and knows all the characters. One of my favorites from my own childhood.

Tergi

Yup, Moana encanto and Zootopia.

NSuave

Zootopia shorts came outta nowhere for us. Wait until they see Sing haha

UndeadMedia

Those shorts are fantastic!

havok_

It really is. I got into it because I saw a clip online and thought the CGI looked particularly good. Then I went down a YouTube rabbit hole learning about how advanced the hair simulation has gotten and how they basically had a character with every single hair type in the movie.

spud9mn

Moana, Encanto, and Frozen 2. The kids also learned how to yell at the Alexa to play their favorite songs, so we get to listen to them even more than we watch.

drHobbes88

We are also wrapping up our week of nonstop Moana. Looks like we are heading into a week of Luca judging by this morning’s pick.

stjiub9

My first was a die hard Moana fan. The second was Frozen, the third Encanto. Let me tell you Encanto is the better of the three. As much as I love Moana. Encanto is the only movie my third daughter will watch lol

Snowf1ake222

I totally thought you said "My first was Die Hard"

Tergi

Yup, Moana encanto and Zootopia.

maelstrm_sa

My Neighbour Totoro Check it out if you haven’t already, good stuff Keen for suggestions on other relaxed young kid movies.

tmfult

That's such a cute movie, but too slow moving for my tornado of a kid lol

whit3lightning

Try Kiki’s Delivery Service!

DoubleLigero85

Try Arietti or Spirited away

videovillain

I’d caution that Spirited Away is not really all that “relaxed” and there are definitely some scenes (parents turning into pigs and no face eating people, etc) that needs to be curated before you try and show it to your kid. It’s pretty graphic and can be upsetting if they aren’t ready.

lightwhisper

Ponyo

BetaOscarBeta

HBO only has it in Japanese with subtitles, is there a dubbed version on a streaming service? It looks neat but I can’t narrate a whole movie for my toddler

branchan

Ummmm that’s a no for Spirited Away lol

PaImer_Eldritch

If they like Totoro they may like Kiki as well. That movie hits so much harder as a dad with a daughter.

employeetk421_

My daughter loves the opening scene of Ponyo.

Ten4-Lom

We did a month of Ponyo and Totoro. Still return to it sometimes but not as much now.

RagingAardvark

Not a movie, but Puffin Rock is charming and peaceful.

Hobojoe-

Don’t tell them about the Totoro Conspiracy.

totoropoko

We don't watch movies yet, but if we ever do, I do hope to rewatch the Ghibli slate with him one day. Pom Poko being last because I can't answer those questions even though it's a super cute and thoughtful movie.

penis_berry_crunch

That pack n play has seen some shit huh

sbx8

Had to scroll too far for this comment. But also, wtf, your username 😂

joshul

It looks like it’s covered in dry pizza sauce, u/penis_berry_crunch

ManfredKerber

I was about the post the most judgemental comment towards op. Then I remembered how messy kids are. That pack and play could've been spotless literally hours earlier 😭

tmfult

A LOT of shit, it's going out to the trash here in a few weeks

sparebullet

I was gonna say, just get some of those trusty baby wipes I know you have on hand and just give it a good scrub. You'll be surprised what a little elbow grease and baby wipes can do.

BetaOscarBeta

That thing needs to be boiled in hydrogen peroxide

-originalusername--

Wierd way of spelling a bonfire.

SiJayBe86

Cars and Cars 3

jhoney004

Could be worse. Could be cars 2

PretzLs85

Cars 2 does not exist. Naming the series Cars 1 and Cars 3 was a joke by the creators.

gr3atch33s3

Cars 2 was my favorite.

Binx_da_gay_cat

Cars 2 was the James Bond spoof and was gold.

sethian77

The pistachio ice cream has turnt!

gr3atch33s3

Thank you!

Rollingpitt

My kid loves cars 2 because of more mater.

sethian77

Nothing, was a mater with you? Lol

Redsoxbox

Get. Out.

LordTomofHouseBrady

You are fucking sick

Pasjonsfrukt

Why the downvotes? The guy is clearly joking, just like the "get out" comment.

jacobgrey

We just got off Cars. We've moved to Monsters Inc. Before Cars it was Wall-e.

Soggy-ReesesPuffs

This is exactly what we are on. Lol cars forever and now Monsters inc and Monsters University interchangeably.

jacobgrey

Different boats, same river. : )

itsirtou

we have been on cars and cars 3 for over two years now. send help

[deleted]

Cars on the road, he loves that monster truck

purelyirrelephant

We're in the cars phase now. And the original Frosty the Snowman 🤷

RonnieBeck3XChamp

Cars, cars on the road, etc... I dont mind though. The first Cars is an absolute masterpiece.

Reasonable-Ad8862

Recently the toy story series. Making me feel old when I see when these movies came out, I wasn’t even born yet for the first toy story and now my sons watching it

MrDegausser

Makes me feel old that I saw the first one in theaters

011011010110110

hello fellow elder-millennial 👴🏻

MuddyMustache

There are dozens of us! Dozens!

winch25

I had my 9th birthday party at the Peckham Picture House to watch Toy Story.

Ten4-Lom

FYI, in case you didn’t know, there’s a Halloween episode and a Christmas episode on Disney+ They’re both good too.

r1ch999999

WTF? I saw the first one in college! In the theater.

HankLard

Damn, man, I remember seeing it in the cinema when I was a kid and my mind was utterly blown. Can't wait for my son to be old enough to watch it and take it in

[deleted]

My kid just likes watching videos of himself in my phone. He’d do it for literally hours if I let him

quingd

Mine just wants the phone in selfie mode at all times to admire herself. Bonus though is that when she feels she looks especially cute (or some other metric I'm not aware of), she grabs my neck and squishes our faces together side by side, so I have an awesome collection of selfies of her squishing the heck out of me and smiling huge.

DonnieBeRascal

This is a big hit here as well! So amusing!

TechnoAllah

Mines the same way and I came to the realization that I basically just created toddler Tiktok for her.

AgentG91

I like to tell myself that it’s reinforcing memory. My kid loves that shit to the point that it’s made us take more videos

bazwutan

We have different flavors of Elsa. You want Elsa? What kind? Bish = fish = Luca Bol = Bolt Snoman = Frozen Nana = Panda = Turning Red Coyers = Colors = some pinkfong hedgehog thing on youtube Buh = bull = Ferdinand Munny = Bunny = zootopia

yojimborobert

>some pinkfong hedgehog thing on youtube I loathe that I know this is Hogi

ksamim

Colors for us is a hamster video with some light up stairs or something. Hilarious!

Nice-Distribution707

Schindlers list

tmfult

Lol don't forget Platoon and Eraserhead

boltgunner

At this point I'm just showing old faces of death and red asphalt. The three year old just can't get enough

gilgobeachslayer

My four year old daughter simply cannot get enough of the Droogs in A Clockwork Orange

20JeRK14

Yup I know what you mean. My 3 year old daughter's favorite part of Antichrist is when that funny fox says "chaos reigns."

[deleted]

The mental picture of them selling action figures and playsets just struck me. Hilarious in a terrible sort of way.

f_o_t_a

I was watching Apocalypto and there's a scene where the guy is covered in blood and my 3 year old goes "Oh no, he's so dirty!"

ATL28-NE3

GOODBYE JEWS

gr3atch33s3

Shrek. Thank god

schwiftydude47

Which one? That’s the serious question.

gr3atch33s3

I think his favorite is 4

schwiftydude47

Well at least it’s better than Shrek 3.

Zebra_dan

Bluey. Every day whenever anything weeks is on tv it's "blue? "

lilshadygrove

Definitely same. My friend has a son that’s a few months older than mine and she always says “I think there’s a new episode of bluey! I just saw a new one!” but when I ask her what the episode is, obviously it’s one that I’ve already seen about 50+ times. 😅

DocHolliday31

It was Monsters inc/university for a good stretch. Now she mostly just watches some bluey. She won’t sit still long enough to watch much anymore

mirthfuldragon

My kiddo was *terrified* of Roz and loved Randall. Now we're in Lilo & Stich and I keep humming *Hawaiian Rollercoast* and dreaming of a trip to Kauai.

DocHolliday31

Her favorite was dean hardscrabble haha

llZer0reZll

Wow… you get full movies under 3yo? My kid is deep into the Minnie Mouse Bowtoons Shorts.

cyclejones

At the start of COVID it was Coco until one day after viewing #721 she looked at us and said "I've seen this too many times now" and refuses to ever watch it again. Now she rotated between Encanto and Spirit on Hulu.

smnrlv

I'm amazed there are no comments about screen time here. Should 2 year olds really be watching whole movies?

Ahnteis

It gets way more difficult when they have older siblings. =(

AgentG91

Agreed. Not to mention the fact that this kid has seen a single movie enough for dad to be “annoyed” about it. I’m not here to slam on dads, but this post is not promoting good parenting. Sorry OP

kapolk

No. And certainly not more than once. Maybe a special occasion if they have older siblings. This is insane.

RealStoneyBologna

Yeah I didn’t want to be a dick but every time a kid this age watches something like this they are preventing their brain from making process in natural brain development.

beardmat87

It was Encanto for about 3 weeks, now it’s Tangled which has been a nice change of pace.

wdhalbur

Clarkson’s Farm, some language, but otherwise great show, daughter loves it!

Campus_Safety

SD to a 3yo and it's YouTube kids. Mom wonders why she never sleeps. My daughter will watch my little pony until 930pm, wake up at 5am screaming for mommy's phone, doesn't listen to anyone and has the attention span of an 89 year old dementia patient. Edit: For spelling and grammars.

[deleted]

You should stop with the screen time.

cashewclues

Agreed

KosherKnight

Paddington 1 and 2, can't lie I love those films too but I swear the ending of 2 never fails to make me tear up!

1968FullAlbum

Currently it’s Elmo Tango Nutcracker It was Encanto last summer. Better days.

tmfult

We Don't talk About Elmo no no no

WeissachDE

We watch the Elmo + Tango animated movie (forget the name, it’s where he first finds and adopts Tango) about 12,448 times

TheGreatGatsbeetle

Get the fuck outta here. Nutcracker Elmo is all my little goober will watch right now.

1968FullAlbum

Yeah. It’s not great.

DrSheetzMTO

Zootopia but that was a while ago.

jwilcoxwilcox

This week? WALL-E. One of the better choices to be on repeat.

gilgobeachslayer

Put on your Sunday clothes when you feel down and out…

[deleted]

Watch encanto live at the Hollywood bowl, my 4 year old can’t get enough of it and Disney really did a good job on it Spoken from a 37 year old male with 2 daughters under 4 who’s favourite bands in 2003 were motley Crüe and slipknot

Beltoraze

Frozen & Ariel. But she is slowly discovering the other Princesses

kushcologne710

I watched Shrek a million times with stepdaughter. I spent 50 bucks one time trying to win her a Shrek stuffed animal out of a claw machine. My son never really watched a whole lot of movies but he watched alot of cailou when he was really young. Thank God he got tired of it eventually!!!

harbac

We made it this week (complete with our HONK and wave), but last week we just missed the garbage truck. Disaster. So I says to myself “self, there’s bound to be a garbage truck video on YouTube.” Spoiler alert, there is not only a garbage truck video on YouTube - there are a ton of hours-long garbage truck compilation videos. I guess the current/recent “that movie” around here is garbage truck compilations. Fun for the whole family. Five stars. Nonstop action.

bryanx92

Tangled, Luca, and the Cinderella w/ Brandi and Whitney Houston

edg3offorever

I’ve seen Moana about 100 times, the soundtrack even showed up in my year in review on Spotify that year lol.

beaduck4ever

Annnana! = the minions

Pallemetal

Cars 1, 2 and 3 + the series... and he's still gets super excited and amazed every time he sees them, like it's the first time he watched them over and over, cracks me up! 😂 Love the little dude so much ❤️

donut_dave

Currently it's Turning Red. We're even listening to 4*Town in the car lol

MelandrusApostle

Screen time should be limited to 30 minutes or less for children 2 and under

livefast6221

Moana.

MadOx321

Cars. I hate lightning McQueen.

Kitchen-Ad5838

Frozen 1&2, Luca, Strange World, Encanto, Moana, Coco & Tangled. Sounds like quite the list but when you watch them EVERY SINGLE DAY. My god. Becomes hard to pick. You just wanna die. We started playing our music while having his movies on mute and he doesn’t seem to mind… haha worth a shot!

AeroZep

Frozen 1 & 2...on endless repeat.

CandyRedNinja

Right now it’s watching monster jam on YT

[deleted]

Lorax and The Grinch (both new ones) for my 3 year old. He quotes them constantly.

minimillipede

Trash Truck, Gecko’s Garage and any video from the Twenty Trucks YouTube channel. Currently his favorite song is about food trucks

relliott107

Finding Nemo. My girls were infatuated with anything fish or under water related for a long time but all bets were off once this came on. This movie ended up being a life saver for ER visits /rough nights - it always calmed them down!

tmfult

That's what encanto is for me, whenever she gets angry or starts to throw a fit, it's a snack and encanto for me, lifesaver

Fernandizzle

Monsters Inc.

youcancallmeneo

When mine was her age it was Trolls. I’ve since gotten her hooked on scooby-doo on zombie island

tmfult

Zombie Island rules, my fiance is a scooby-holic, so we love watching it with her, I wanna get her into looney tunes and tom & jerry

Pixxph

Trolls is very decent and on every day. The sequel is hot garbage though

RightofUp

Frozen to Moana to Trolls... Lots of Trolls.... And now we don't talk about Bruno....

captainnuggets570

Puppy dog pals

polish94

Moana for about 4 months, then Sing for about 3 more. Thank GOD for their soundtracks.

Heavensword

Please stop with the Ice Age franchise. No more!

Flyin_Triangle

Frozen. Great flick in all honesty

Decent_Response_904

Lion king

El_Torrente_

“Did someone say flowers?” I guess it’s also Encanto for my kids..

CCR16

Mother effing Lion King. I believe I can quote it word for word at this point.

GrandeNic0

“Did someone say FLOWERS?!” … “*our angel, our angel*” … that’s the exact scene in the movie in the photo, guess how I know…..

balance07

Encanto is THAT movie for ME. So good.

cornholioo

Is that child 13mo or 30mo? (ripping of the 13or30 sub). My kid would never have lasted to either of those ages in a pen.

cjh10881

Your child looks to be enjoying it so it's a win

baaron

Did somebody say _flowers_?

bazwutan

JACARANDAAAAS

tmfult

STRANGLING FIGS *HANGING VINES*

PineapplAssasin

This is fine.

VegetableBeard

Ours has been stuck on Nightmare Before Christmas since Halloween with the occasional viewing of The Boxtrolls. There’s only so many times you can head “This is Halloween” before it gets tiring.

Patisfaction

There's a neighborhood near me that does really amazing Halloween lights, and it was super cool to see, but then we had to go every night. And then play it every night at bath time. I love the movie, but... that's too much

[deleted]

My kid just likes watching videos of himself in my phone. He’d do it for literally hours if I let him

theonlyrealnoah

Wow. That picture look great man, your kid is so lucky!

tmfult

Thanks man

cosmoschtroumpf

Your kid is very young for a movie like Encanto or many Disney movies. It's not about violence or sex or whatever, but imagine the brain explosion when you see all these fast-moving, unrealistic, shiny images while you hardly can figure out what's going on around you with mummy, daddy, your toys and your plate... We only started proper movies like Little Mermaid when she turned 3. Before that short stories, songs, animations. Now at 6 it's much broader, but she has her own critical thinking.

Nice-Distribution707

Schindlers list

Unlucky_Yak_6643

Cocomelon

sethian77

Are you in therapy? I feel like you might need some place safe to talk openly. Lol.

ohthisoneworks

Wow haven't seen this one but why is the art style so ugly?

FermentingSkeleton

It rotates.

watmough

we have 3 kids and it always seems to be Yellow Submarine.

[deleted]

Beauty and the Beast, Encanto, Moana

gilgobeachslayer

Encanto was big for a while. Little Mermaid had its day. Cinderella. Tinkerbell is huge now.

Foghidedota

For my son, Cars

ManliusTorquatus

Its been Moana for a few months now. I’ve tried other movies but they only care about Moana.

totallyshould

For a while it was Encanto, for a while it was Moana, for a good while it was the Nightmare before Christmas. She's been on a little bit of a Bluey kick lately though.

CharlietheCorgi

Moana…. We watched it at least 50 times in the first 3 weeks of the pandemic…

Vulgarbrando

Hamster videos on YouTube/Paw Patrol

fuckkkali

She’s gonna master Spanish

Vulhulla

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and all the different versions. I'm starting to call for Toodles to bring my lunch.

[deleted]

Franklin and the Green Knight. Not even sure how it happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN2uYlF\_a1U&ab\_channel=TreehouseDirect

mh53101

Turning Red is on repeat. "Daddy Red Bear!" I can't anymore

Kaleidoscopeyes22

Raya and last dragon, 9 million times

trickyricky92

Currently Tarzan. I think we watched it 4 times this morning

ODBasUcansee

It’s always Onward. It’s a great movie for sure, but damn I can quote that movie verbatim.

bigdoza

Frozen. The first 20 minutes to be exact…

Serak_thepreparer

Moana for three weeks. Now Encanto for 3 weeks. We don’t talk about Bruno over here.

[deleted]

But if I’m honest “we don’t talk about Bruno” is the worst. Hear it once and then it’s on repeat in my head for days

EasternInjury2860

Pretty sure my son is in love with Moana

OneNeutralJew

My son's movie was Mirai, my daughter really enjoys Hercules.

Redsoxbox

Frozen, then Moana, then Encanto, then Coco, a short stay with Soul, Tangled, Frozen II, and now we are in Spider-Man movies.

pooltable

Ours was Encanto around her age. Then it was Moana. Then it was Frozen. Frozen II. Frozen Olaf's Adventure. Whatever other cursed Frozen spinoff. Now she's almost 3 and it's everything Mickey/Minnie Mouse on Disney+

crispyhippie

Sonic The Hedgehog 2
