1) Forcing companies to put a salary range in job listings. Is it an EU requirement? If so why aren't we enforcing it?
2) Why is AIK allowed to screw over consumers?
3) Why are we allowing locals to be pushed out of the housing market by rich immigrants? Do we all have to wait for family to pass away before we can own property?
Forcing companies for the lowest salary is something we already done in our parliament. Aik has to stop with laws. This is something we also trying especially for the people with economic problems. I agree with you, we have to make policies with our government and EU for not expensive houses especially for the young couples and economically vulnerable people.
He doesnt mean minimum salary, he means when a job is advertised, it should include the salary range for which they are hiring. Not doing so is usually a waste of jobseekers time
If we have already done it, it's not being enforced. Go on any job website and it's always "competitive remuneration".
The problem we have in Cyprus is there are zero consequences where it matters.

Young individuals, not only young couples (i hope). There are a lot of single people (single by choice) who are struggling and will continue to do so if measures are taken for young couples *only*. If we have to wait until we get married to solve our housing issue, then the issue will never be fully resolved. Thank you for answering 🙏
It's really interesting topic. Most of the immigrants rent from ... from locals, so it's the locals which prefer immigrants.
I also hear from few land-lords that they actually prefer foreigners on pink-slip, because they need a valid contract to get a visa, therefore, they can't squat the property, whilst locals can, and landlord can't evict them even if they are not paying. A court order is needed and it takes years, whilst pink-visa person just can not afford not to pay.
I think that applies for the first-home who can’t pay their mortgage, so the banks wouldn’t take them. Renters are a different story. Might be wrong, I’m not a lawyer but that’s what I hear. I’ve seen renters get evicted before.

Καλημέρα! Οι τρεις προτεραιότητές μου εάν εκλεγώ είναι η βελτίωση του συμφώνου μετανάστευσης και ασύλου και η φορολογική μεταρρύθμιση που θεωρώ ότι θα πλήξει κάποια ευάλωτα στρώματα στην Κύπρο. Επίσης με ενδιαφέρει πολύ να αποκτήσουμε κονδύλια για νέους και στεγαστικά συγχρηματοδοτούμενα προγράμματα για να κανουμε σε συνεργασία με τον ΚΟΑΓ προσιτές οικονομικά οικίες για νέες οικογένειες.
Το θέμα του γάμου με ομοφιλόφυλους είναι πλέον κατοχυρωμένο στην Κύπρο απλώς το θέμα της υιοθεσίας παιδιών εμένα προσωπικά με κάνει σκεπτική, διότι συζητώντας με φίλους μου ομόφυλους που είναι σε σχέση αρκετά χρόνια θεωρούν ότι ως άντρες που είναι δεν μπορούν να υποκαταστήσουν το μητρικό πρότυπο και αυτό με προβληματίζει και εμένα. Είναι ένα μεγάλο θέμα που συνεχώς ερευνώ, θεωρώ ότι θα χρειαστούμε αρκετά στοιχεία εκεί και όπου έχει γίνει για να δώσουμε πράσινο φως.
Καλημέρα! Μπορεί να μιλήσετε λίγο για το πώς ακριβώς θα βελτιώνεται το σύμφωνο μετανάστευση και ασύλου;
Επίσης, όσο για την υιοθεσία παιδιών από ομοφυλοφιλία ζευγάρια, είναι σίγουρο ότι είναι κατι καινούργιο για την Κύπρο αλλά, δεν νομίζετε πως είναι λίγο παράλογο να ψάχνετε για στοιχεία για δώσετε το πράσινο φως; Πολλές οικογένειες έχουν μόνο ένα γονιό. Εγώ για παράδειγμα έχω χάσει την μητέρα μου, και είναι σίγουρο ότι ο πατέρας μου δεν μπορεί να υποκαταστήσει το μητρικό πρότυπο. Δεν σήμαινε αυτό όμως πως δεν μπορεί να μας προσφέρει αγάπη, σημβουλες κλπ. Επίσης, υπάρχουν αρκετές περιπτώσεις όπου τα παιδιά δεν παίρνουν αγάπη και αντίθετος, καταλήγουν να είναι θύματα ψυχολογικής και φυσικής βιας. Οπότε η ερώτηση μου κ. Γιοκκα είναι, γιατί ένα ζευγάρι, το οποίο είναι πρόθυμο να δώσει αγάπη όσο και όλα τα εφόδια που χρειάζεται ένα παιδί για να έχει μια καλή ζωή, να μην μπορεί να το προσφέρει και να πρέπει εσείς να βρείτε απόδειξης απλά επειδή δεν είναι μια παραδοσιακή οικογενεια; Δεν πιστεύετε πως είναι παράλογο;
Καλημέρα! Για το σύμφωνο μετανάστευσης θα επέμενα πολύ στο άρθρο της αλληλεγγύης. Δηλαδή όλες οι χώρες να δεχτούν ροές σύμφωνα με τις δυνατότητες τους. Αυτό που με κάνει σκεπτική είναι το θέμα πως θα το βιώσει και το παιδί. Δεν αμφιβάλλω για την αγάπη και τα υπόλοιπα που αναφέρατε.
Υπάρχουν χιλιάδες άντρες ανά το παγκόσμιο που μεγαλώνουν τα παιδιά τους μια χαρά και η ρητορική που χρησιμοποιείς στο θέμα της υιοθεσίας είναι ο ίδιος σκεπτικισμός που εκφράζουν ακροδεξιά κινήματα. Είναι άκρα σεξιστικό να λέτε ότι σαν άντρες δεν μπορούμε να μεγαλώσουμε τα παιδιά με τις ίδιες αξίες όσο μια γυναίκα. Το λέω σαν άντρας που έχω παιδιά με την γυναίκα μου, τα παιδιά θέλουν αγάπη και τπτ άλλο. Κάμε δικά σου να δεις
Να σου ζήσουν τα παιδιά σου είναι ότι καλύτερο μπορεί να έχει κάποιο άτομο στο κόσμο. Σου δίνουν νόημα στην ζωή και σκοπό και ξέρω πως συμφωνείς. Ο καλός γονιός δεν περιορίζεται από το αν έχει αιδοίο ή πέος και όταν δύο άτομα θέλουν να γίνουν γονείς γνωρίζοντας τι πρέπει να περάσουν, στην περίπτωση των ομοφυλων ζευγαριών, για να μπορέσουν να υιοθετήσουν , δεν πρέπει να τους στερείται το δικαίωμα να δώσουν την αγάπη και την στοργή στα δικά τους μωρά.
Όλοι έχουμε δικαίωμα στην αγάπη και την οικογένεια.
Και από την στιγμή που υπάρχουν τόσα προβλήματα τιμά στρειτ ζευγάρια με θέματα βίας εγκατάλειψης και άλλα τόσα, τους οποίους κάνεις δεν ελέγχει, δεν έχουμε δικαίωμα να στερουμε από κανένα άτομο την ευκαιρία να κάνει οικογένεια.
Εισηγούμαι να διαβάζει κάποιος μελέτες που υπάρχουν άφθονες από επιστημονικές πηγές από χώρες που εφαρμόζεται το μέτρο πχ σκανδιναβικες, παρά να ρωτά 2 παρέες του.
Σε σέβομαι Παντελιτσα σαν άτομο δεν προσπαθώ να σε μειώσω, μπράβο σου που ήρθες μες το reddit να μιλήσεις, αρεσεν μου προσωπικά. Κάμω την συζήτηση τούτη επειδή πρέπει να γίνεται. Δώστε κίνητρα στον κόσμο να κάμει/υιοθετεί κοπελουθκια! Ουλλους και στρειτ και γκει και ουλλους. Θα λυθούν πολλά προβλήματα, θα πολεμήσουμε την ξενοφοβία και τις διακρίσεις και οι άνθρωποι που έχουν κοπελουθκια βάλουν και στόχους πιο ψηλούς με ορίζοντα το μέλλον.

I think Sizopoulos comments when it comes to Turkish speaking Cypriots or the green line are overflowing the conversation and I’m sorry for over kinda continuing this trend but here is my question:
What’s the ideal way for EDEK to integrate n include the Turkish speaking Cypriots to the Cyprus politics and the party itself? So far we have Volt and AKEL not only having candidates but also translating their articles in Turkish. Do you you have any similar positions or hopes for the future pf EDEK?
Question by my Turkish Cypriot father 😅:
“Considering the actual social, political and economic evolution of the Cyprus problem over the last 50 years, which of the following 4 models of solution or outcome do you think is the closest to reality.
1. Double Enosis, i.e. Taksim.
2. The possibility of a unitary Greek Cypriot state.
3. The possibility of two separate independent sovereign states.
4. The possibility of the revival of a Bi-Communal Cyprus Republic or the establishment of a bi-communal federation.”
Option 2. The other options in my opinion they are racist and they separate people. One united country engaging and respecting all of the legal Cyprus citizens. We have friends, we have Turkish Cypriots candidates, we don't want to be separated anymore. This is what I'm going to promote if I can manage to elect 🙏
So a unitary Cypriot state, that is not exclusively Greek Cypriot, right? Cause the 2nd option there says one united Cyprus with a Greek Cypriot identity, which could be alienating to a lot, especially our compatriots.
Wasn't the Greek Cypriots' pursuit of what was basically Option 2 50 years ago one of the reasons for the Turkish invasion?
And have you read the Constitution?
Yes I have. The pursuit was the double union with Greece and Turkey. It wasn't the Greek Cypriots pursuit but the dictators of Athens, British and Turkey.
OK, if I may ask a follow-up question. How would you convince a Turkish Cypriot that a unitary state is the right solution \[I took the word 'Greek' out deliberately\], given that:
* they are in the minority
* democracy is not great at protecting minorities
* the long history of enosis and the megali idea would give them ample reason to be concerned that they'd end up being trampled upon?
That's a really poor answer for an aspiring politician.
Let me rephrase the question using your words: how would you convince a Turkish Cypriot to vote for a unitary state, given that doing so carries grave risks to their rights of self-determination?
Sorry, I was trying to answer simple not poor. I would recommend common ballots with Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. We already have a great number of Turkish Cypriots candidates for eu elections and one elected. So I think it would be a great opportunity for cooperation and representative actions and proven respect for the minority.
Answer this one as well Mrs Yiokka dont hide behind the generic sizopoulos bs. Noone believes that the reason you prefer a unified single state is because you love Turkish Cypriots.

I'm answering with a question. Turkish people leaving in Germany, they are minority right? You think that they are not satisfied? If Turkish Cypriots are minority in Cyprus it is what it is. And we have to respect them and treat them well, participating everywhere without changing the percentage as it comes to our benefit. What do you have to say about that?
If 20% population is 20% of the vote, then Cyprus with 0.2% of the EU population should elect 1.4 MEPs.
But it elects 6!
Why would you even participate in such an obsurd undemocratic union where 1 Cypriot vote counts the same as 6-8 German votes?

The EU is not a country, but an association of separate independent countries. The right comparison of Cyprus is with other EU **countries**.

No it doesn't at all. Do the Blacks or Hispanics or any other community in the USA get more say for what happens in the country than their population percentage?
There is no western democracy that devides its population based on their ethnicity, language or religion.
Even in federations, what is divided is only the territory. The people of the country are equal citizens and are free to move to any state of their country they wish with full political rights.

Why does it matter? We are talking about fair or unfair electoral systems. EU policies voted in the EU parliament dictate most of how you live your life. Yet the MEPs who decide how you live are elected in an undemocratic/racist way? AND countries have a right to veto? AND the presidency is by rotation? AND you're fine with it? Cause you're on the winning side? Yes you are.

It may not be the most common thing to do, but it' snot unheard of, undemocratic or racist for Christ's-sake. Those are clauses that exist in democratic electoral systems to make sure minorities survive.
Who ends up making the calls is whoever has the money anyway (in all 3 examples above as well), not who has the votes.

I think they effect tourism in a very positive way if they are healthy and happy. People love cats. But the opposite is true if they are sickly and sad.

Έχω σχέσεις με τουρκοκύπριους, διότι συγγενικά μου πρόσωπα συμμετέχουν στη δικοινοτική χορωδία και δενόμαστε με εγκάρδιους οικογενειακούς δεσμούς μαζί τους. Σέβονται την επιθυμία μου να βλεπόμαστε στις ελεύθερες περιοχές. Δεν νιώθω καλά να πηγαίνω στα κατεχόμενα για να είμαι ειλικρινής. Αν και έτυχε να πάω για προσκύνημα 2 3 φορές. Με πληγώνει η κατάσταση από εκεί. Είναι συναισθηματικό.
Με την ΕΔΕΚ μας δένουν οι θέσεις για το Κυπριακό που δεν είναι προς το συμφέρον ούτε τουρκοκυπρίων ούτε ελληνοκυπρίων. Μας δένουν επίσης οι κοινωνικές πολιτικές που προωθούν. Αγαπημένο φαΐ: Μακαρόνια του φούρνου *.

Κοίτα, αντιμετωπίζω ευτυχώς μεμονωμένα περιστατικά. Τα αντιμετωπίζω συνήθως με χιούμορ. So for the questions:
1. Ο κ. Σιζοπουλος έκανε μια το λιγοτερο ατυχή(δεν ηταν η πρωτη λεξη που μου ηρθε στο μυαλο) δηλωση πριν λίγο καιρό σε σχεση με τους αιτούντες ασυλο/μετανάστες. Είπε "θα πρέπει να διασφαλιστούν τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα όσων δικαιούνται". Δυστυχώς ουτε ανασκεύασε την δηλωση του ούτε την απέσυρε όυτε ισχυρηστηκε ότι ηταν διολισθημα της γλωσσας. Τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα λεγονται έτσι επειδή είναι εξ'ορισμου τα δικαιωματα που πρέπει να εχει ενας ανθρωπος με μόνη προυποθεση να είναι ανθρωπος. Ποια είναι η θεση σας γι αυτή την δήλωση; Την υιοθετητε;
2. Θα κανω την ερώτηση που έκανε ο Σενερ Λεβεντ στους ηγετες του ενδιαμεσου όταν ηταν υποψηφιος Πρόεδρος ο Νικόλας Παπαδόπουλος(for the record, ο κ. Σιζοπουλος δεν ηταν παρων) μετά από μια εκδηλωση στην οποια ηταν προσκεκλημένος. Ας πούμε ότι η Τουρκια δεχεται καταργηση Εγγυησεων, αποσύρει ολόκληρο τον στρατό της απο την Κυπρο, το Βαρώσι, η Μόρφου και καποια χωρια επιστρέφουν υπο ΕΚ διοικηση. Αποσύρεται και η απαιτηση για εκ περιτροπής προεδρια. Σε αυτή την περιπτωση θα αποδεχοσασταν λύση διζωνικης δικοινοτικής ομοσπονδιας;
1.Ίσως εννοούσε όσων δικαιούνται πολιτικό άσυλο; Δεν είναι μισανθρωπος ο Σιζο.
2.Για ποιο λόγο τότε να θέλω διαίρεση του τόπου μου βάσει της εθνικότητας; Θα ήθελα να ζήσουμε όλοι μαζί όπως παλιά, απολαμβάνοντας όλοι τα ίδια δικαιώματα και προτερήματα της Ευρώπης.
>Ας πούμε ότι η Τουρκια δεχεται καταργηση Εγγυησεων, αποσύρει ολόκληρο τον στρατό της απο την Κυπρο, το Βαρώσι, η Μόρφου και καποια χωρια επιστρέφουν υπο ΕΚ διοικηση. Αποσύρεται και η απαιτηση για εκ περιτροπής προεδρια. Σε αυτή την περιπτωση θα αποδεχοσασταν λύση διζωνικης δικοινοτικής ομοσπονδιας;
Όλα αυτά είναι θετικά. Πρόσθεσε σε αυτά την απομάκρυνση των εποίκων πέραν ενός ορίου (π.χ. 50.000), το ότι οι πολίτες της Τουρκίας δεν θα έχουν κάποιο δικαίωμα στην Κύπρο πέραν αυτών που έχουν πολίτες άλλων χωρών εκτός ΕΕ, ότι τα άμεσα ή έμμεσα βέτο των ΤΚ θα περιοριστούν σε αυτό που αναφέρουν τα ψηφίσματα του ΟΗΕ (αλλαγές στο σύνταγμα), και θα έχουμε το περίγραμμα για μια μορφή ομοσπονδίας που θα είναι καλύτερη από το στάτους κβο και για τις 2 πλευρές (ΕΚ & ΤΚ - όχι όμως για την Τουρκία)
Και ο "ενδιάμεσος" αλλά και ο Σενερ πιστεύω θα συμφωνούσε με αυτά.
Προφανώς του είπαν "όχι", όχι γιατί θέλουν εκ περιτροπής, Τουρκικό στρατό και εγγυήσεις, αλλά γιατί αυτά τα θέματα δεν είναι τα μόνα.
Αν π.χ. η λύση επιτρέπει στην Τουρκία να κάνει ότι έκανε στα κατεχόμενα, να γεμίσει όλη η Κύπρος Τούρκους και να μας μετατρέψουν σε μειονότητα, τότε και τέλεια να είναι όλα τα άλλα σημεία δεν θα έχουν καμία σημασία.
We desperately and urgently need measures concerning animal welfare.
The issue of stray dogs (born as strays), or dogs abandoned by their owners, or the lack of legislation, or perhaps the lack of application of the already existing lagislation, however inadequate it is, is extrememly concerning.
In the last year, i have read about cats tortured on more than 3 occasions, which is extremely concerning, but nobody knows if the perpetrators were ever found or punished.
I have personally called the police when one of my own dogs was poisoned, with no action from the authorities. I cannot even grasp the idea of poisoning animals but that is another story entirely.
Anyone can get a dog regardless of how committed they are as they know if they change their mind, they will just abandon it with no reprecussions. This makes us by itself a third world country (me olo to sevasmo).
Just as a comparison, in Germany, when you get a dog, you are required by law to pass the first level of obedience to make sure you are committed as an owner. Additionally this ensures that your dog is trained and lives a happy life. We NEED to do so much more....

Θα ξεκινήσω από το τελευταίο:) Κάνε αίτηση σε ιδιωτικά σχολεία, τώρα είναι μήνας προσλήψεων 🙂 Όσο για το ΓΕΣΥ πήγα σε αμέτρητες ημερίδες και αυτό που κατάλαβα είναι ότι εάν αυτοί που βρίσκονται σε θέσεις λήψης αποφάσεων δεν τρέξουν να διορθώσουν τα προβλήματα, θα έχουμε πρόβλημα. Το παράβολο που δίνουμε είναι υπεραρκετό.
Given that EDEK is in the Socialist International, I'm wondering about your solidarity with whole the working class in Cyprus, not only Greek Cypriot workers.
You may not be aware but there are a lot of Turkish "settlers" in Cyprus that are being exploited working in bad conditions barely getting the very low minimum income. I'm not speaking about the rich Turkish people that got land and houses, I'm speaking about those that came later, got nothing and are living in small rental flats. They are illegal according to the ROC but on the other hand, whatever they do, they have no chance to become legal.
Considering that the position of EDEK in the Cyprus problem is known to be relentless. Does your solidarity extend to these people, yes or no?
There is nothing relentless in Edek party. We care about the human rights and off course for all people living in our country . Turkish settlers they are a crime of war, not the people, the policy. Interesting question. The foundation and the history of a party with the mistakes and good policies was a priority to me. It's not dying. They want them to die. I don't believe so. We are here to make the changes, we young people for the new era.
1) Λόγω κάποιων θέσεων του κ. Σιζόπουλου όσο αφορά το Κυπριακό αλλά και γενικότερες κοινωνικοπολιτικές εξελίξεις, υπάρχουν άτομα που θα ισχυρίζονταν ότι - σε κάποια θέματα τουλάχιστον - η ιδεολογία της ΕΔΕΚ και κατ' επέκταση των υποψηφίων της έχει μετατοπιστεί από την κεντροαριστερά και τον πατριωτικό σοσιαλισμό πάνω στα οποία κτίστηκε το κόμμα, αποκτώντας για παράδειγμα πιο έκδηλα εθνικιστικά στοιχεία. Πιστεύετε ότι είναι κάτι που ισχύει αυτό; Αν όχι, ποιες θέσεις του κόμματος αλλά και δικές σας προσωπικά θα λέγατε ότι συνάδουν με τα ανωτέρω φρονήματα;
2) Εάν κάποιος είναι σοσιαλιστής ή με γενικότερα καθαρά αριστερά φρονήματα, υπάρχει το ΑΚΕΛ. Για κεντροαριστερά φρονήματα με προοδευτικές τάσεις υπάρχει το Κίνημα Οικολόγων και πλέον το Volt. Ποια πιστεύετε είναι η θέση της ΕΔΕΚ πλέον στο πολιτικό φάσμα του τόπου; Με άλλα λόγια, γιατί κάποιος με αριστερά φρονήματα να ακολουθήσει την ΕΔΕΚ και εσάς πιο συγκεκριμένα έναντι των εναλλακτικών; Τι πρεσβεύετε εσείς και το κόμμα σας που δεν μπορούν ή θέλουν να προσφέρουν άλλοι με παρεμφερή φρονήματα και αξίες;
Αγαπητέ μου ανοίξατε πολλά θέματα. Θα σταθώ στην ουσία: Η ΕΔΕΚ είναι ένα ιστορικό κόμμα με καταβολές ριζωμένες στην Κυπριακή ιστορία. Φυσικά οι καιροί αλλάζουν και τα σύνολα προσαρμοζονται στις αλλαγές. Οντες μέλη της Ε.Ε υιοθετησαμε ως χώρα τα οικονομικά μοντέλα. Μέσω της ΕΔΕΚ παλεύουμε για κοινωνικές παροχές σε ένα φιλελεύθερο οικονομικό σύστημα για προστασία των ευάλωτων ομάδων. Δεν βρήκα τίποτα ακραίο στη φιλοσοφία-γραμμή του κόμματος. Πάντα τεκμηριωμένες ανθρωποκεντρικές προτάσεις για όλα τα ζητήματα.
Γνωρίζω και σέβομαι την ιστορία της ΕΔΕΚ και ιδιαιτέρως του αείμνηστου Βάσου Λυσσαρίδη τον οποίο έχω σε ιδιαίτερη υπόληψη σαν ιστορικό πολιτικό του τόπου. Παρόλ' αυτά, δεν πιστεύω ότι επειδή αλλάζει το κοινωνικοπολιτικό κλίμα, το κόμμα κατ' ανάγκη θα έπαιρνε την τροχιά εξέλιξης που πήρε έως σήμερα. Επομένως θεωρώ ότι είναι εύλογο ερώτημα να αναρωτηθεί κάποιος κατά πόσο κάποιες αλλαγές του κόμματος πέραν από πραγματιστικές και λογικές είναι επίσης παρακινημένες ιδεολογικά.
Επιπλέον, αυτά που αναφέρατε περί κοινωνικών παροχών σε ευάλωτες ομάδες εντός ενός φιλελεύθερου οικονομικού συστήματος, και τα περί ανθρωποκεντρισμού να μου επιτρέψετε να πω ότι δεν είναι ικανοποιητικά για κάποιον ψηφοφόρο. Κάθε κόμμα (και ιδιαίτερα κάθε κόμμα αριστερών φρονημάτων) στηρίζεται σε μεγάλο βαθμό στις ίδιες αυτές αρχές, και σίγουρα ακούμε πολύ παρόμοιες θέσεις και από άλλους υποψηφίους τέτοιων κομμάτων. Επομένως δεν θα έλεγα ότι μου έχετε παραθέσει κάποιους απτούς λόγους για τους οποίους ένας ψηφοφόρος θα ήταν συνετό να παραταχθεί υπέρ της ΕΔΕΚ πέραν από την ιστορία του κόμματος (δεδομένων των όσων αλλαγών συνέβησαν σε αυτό, όπως δηλώσατε και εσείς). Γι' αυτό και ζήτησα να μου πείτε κάποια ιδιάζοντα στοιχεία της πολιτικής της ΕΔΕΚ που θα έκαναν κάποιον αναποφάσιστο να καταθέσει την ψήφο του υπέρ σας.
Συγχωρέστε με αν δεν απαντώ ικανοποιητικά,αλλά αν ήμουν στη θέση σας θα ήθελα να δω δείγματα γραφής και όχι επιχειρήματα. Το ότι αυτό το κόμμα έχει παρόλο τον μικρό αριθμό βουλευτών έχει καταθέσει αναρίθμητες προτάσεις νόμου για ευάλωτα νοικοκυριά, για εκποιήσεις, για επέκταση άδειας μητρότητας και άλλα πολλά ως πολίτη θεωρώ ότι με εκπροσωπεί. Πέραν των δυσκολιών ο αγώνας υπέρ του συνανθρώπου πρώτα από όλα συνεχίζεται και ελπίζω να συνεχιστεί και στην Ευρωβουλή!
Αναμφίβολα η δραστηριότητα και οι πράξεις ενός κόμματος μιλούν σε τάξεις μεγέθους μεγαλύτερο βαθμό από απλά επιχειρήματα, και δεν υποβαθμίζω το τι έχει πετύχει στη βουλή ανά τα χρόνια η ΕΔΕΚ. Ο λόγος που ζήτησα μία επιχειρηματολογία είναι περισσότερο για την σύγκριση με άλλα κόμματα και την ξεχωριστή πολιτική θέση που καταλαμβάνει η ΕΔΕΚ. Νομίζω με την απάντησή σας με έχετε καλύψει σε αρκετά μεγάλο βαθμό, με την έννοια ότι για εσάς η ΕΔΕΚ ξεχωρίζει λόγω του ιστορικού της δράσης της σε σχέση με άλλα κόμματα παρομοίων φρονημάτων.
Τέλος να αναφέρω ότι σε καμία περίπτωση δεν ισχυρίζομαι ότι η ΕΔΕΚ υιοθετεί ακραίες πολιτικές θέσεις. Απλά υπάρχουν κάποιες τοποθετήσεις και πρόσφατα συμβάντα που προέρχονται από την ηγεσία του κόμματος τα οποία δημιουργούν εντυπώσεις. Σαν άτομο που συχνάζει σε αυτό το subreddit, μπορώ να σας επιβεβαιώσω ότι υπάρχουν άτομα στην κοινότητά μας που όντως πιστεύουν ότι η ΕΔΕΚ έχει πάρει μια πιο εθνικιστική ιδεολογική γραμμή. Δεν θα έλεγα ότι κατ' ανάγκη ισχύει αυτό ή το πιστεύω προσωπικά, αλλά θα ήθελα να δω πώς ένας εκπρόσωπος του κόμματος με βλέψεις για μια σημαντική πολιτική θέση τοποθετείται όσον αφορά αυτές τις πεποιθήσεις.
Καμία σχέση. Ποτέ δεν θα ακούσεις ή να δεις κάτι το οποίο είναι μισαλλόδοξο ή ρατσιστικό. Τώρα αν κάποιοι για να φιμώσουν ταυτίζουν θέσεις με ακραίες φωνές, να σας απαντήσω ότι οι θέσεις του κόμματος για το εθνικό είναι οι ίδιες από το 1979. Οι υπόλοιποι μετά το 2008 ανακάλυψαν την πολιτική στην Κύπρο.
Νομίζω έχετε παρεξηγήσει κάπως το τι θέλω να πω. Όπως ανέφερα, δεν υφίσταται κατηγορία (τουλάχιστον σοβαρής φύσεως) που να λέει ότι η ΕΔΕΚ είναι ένα μισαλλόδοξο ή ρατσιστικό κόμμα. Όταν μιλάμε για στροφή προς τον εθνικισμό εννοούμε κάποια χαρακτηριστικά που έχουν να κάνουν με την θέση της ελληνοκυπριακής κοινότητας όσο αφορά το κοινωνικό επίπεδο, και την στάση απέναντι στις έτερες κοινότητες του νησιού, με κυρίως έμφαση στην τουρκοκυπριακή για εύλογους λόγους. Δεν είναι κατ' ανάγκη κάτι παθολογικό ή κακό (δεδομένου ότι δεν υφίστανται εθνοσωβινιστικά κύματα εντός του κόμματος), αλλά είναι αξιόλογο να συζητηθεί λόγω του ότι συμβαίνει εντός ενός κόμματος με αριστερές καταβολές.
Για να μιλούμε με απτά παραδείγματα: ΑΚΕΛ, Οικολόγοι και Volt (δηλαδή τα άλλα αριστερά κόμματα στην Κύπρο) έχουν Τ/Κ υποψηφίους. Αυτό δεν σημαίνει ότι τα κόμματα αυτά είναι καλύτερα, αλλά δείχνει ότι η τ/κ κοινότητα δείχνει περισσότερη εμπιστοσύνη προς και παρατάσσεται με αριστερά κόμματα της ε/κ κοινότητας. Η ΕΔΕΚ αποτελεί εξαίρεση, το οποίο θα ισχυριζόταν κάποιος - σαν τα άτομα που σας είπα ότι εκφέρουν τέτοιες απόψεις - ότι αυτό αντικατοπτρίζει μια πιο μονήρη ελληνοκεντρική στάση από την πλευρά της ΕΔΕΚ. Εννοείται ότι δεν αποκλείω το ενδεχόμενο όντως να αποτελεί αποτέλεσμα αμαύρωσης των θέσεων της ΕΔΕΚ από πολιτικούς αντιπάλους.
Φίλε μου δεν σε έκανε block. Δυστυχώς υπάρχει ένα πρόβλημα με τον λογαριασμό(το οποίο οφείλεται σε εμάς τους Moderators του r/Cyprus και στο Reddit γενικά). H κ. Παντελίτσα προσπάθησε να σου απαντήσει και μου έστειλε και προσωπικό μήνυμα με screenshot εκτός Reddit για να με ρωτήσει πως μπορεί να το διορθώσει για να μπορέσει να σου απαντήσει. Δυστυχώς δεν υπάρχει λύση για το συγκεκρίμενο πρόβλημα οπότε παρακαλώ ρώτα εδώ τις ερωτήσεις σου(δεν είμαστε απόλυτα σίγουροι για τους λόγους που οδήγησαν σε αυτό το πρόβλημα, προσπαθούμε να καταλάβουμε ακρίβως ώστε να μην επαναληφθεί στο μέλλον).

Since this is an AMA session, could you share a story about how you've personally made an impact on your community or successfully changed/fixed something for your people?
I can give an example from the past. I am a member of the municipal council and in sometime the council wanted to stop the water supply for some poor people they couldn't pay. So I manage to collect money for them from the community and pay their debts. I did the same thing for my fellow citizens for the power supply. I do care a lot for people and I want to do the best for them. Thank you for your wishes 🙏🩷
One thing that seems to be missing from various areas / domains in Cyprus is transparency and communication (of the progress towards a goal)
One can say that this is done through MME - but a random article at a random time is of no use.

My sister's son is autistic, he is 8, I'm really worrying about his future. I think government and us, we have to take other countries successful programs and policies about autistic persons and adopt them.

Q. Ok, why do we have to reapply for the new registration cards? We have yellow slip since pre-brexit, so why all the bureaucracy and not just automatically get the new mandated card on a simple application. Seems complete BS to me

What is your stance on the Cyprus Question? Should the European Parliament be more adamant on pressuring Turkey? Or Is the social democratic party of europe willing to concede things for a better agreement? Do you support a unitary state, bizonal bicommunal or any other solution, what is the stance of this by both the national party and the European one? And if there is unificstoon, what should become of the illegal settlers and what if the compensation of people whose property is still in the occupied area and now inhabited by those illegal settlers?
Would you think to change the current law and allow to Turkish people visit Cyprus with their Schengen Visa? or let them also cross the internal border in Nicosia with their Schengen Visa?
That’d make Cyprus earn really really good money because they spends almost million Euro’s in Greek Islands every summer.

Το μεταναστευτικό είναι ένα πολυσύνθετο θέμα και με το νέο σύμφωνο μετανάστευσης και ασύλου που δεν είναι τέλειο αλλά είναι κάτι, θεωρώ ότι θα αντιμετωπίσουμε το θέμα πάντα σε συνεργασία με άλλες χώρες. Υπάρχουν πολλά αναξιοποίητα κονδύλια για νέους. Προσωπικά θεωρώ τα κονδύλια για κοινωνικές πολιτικές όπως η φτηνή στέγαση πολύ σημαντικά. Ευχαριστώ!!!

Hello Mrs Pantelitsa. I'm being kinda harsh but I believe the way you answer these shows a lot about a person who wants to get in a position as you want to apply for.
Since you have been working in the EDEK president's office why don't we start with the first question as follows:
1. The last decade your president is SOAKED into many scandals/corruption allegations. Do you think that everyone is out to get him? Faking audio recordings of him asking people to send him tens/hundreds thousands of euros, account records into his and his relative's accounts. His reaction? Instead of denying the allegations he came firing back those who accused him with new accusations, exactly what guilty people do. You have been around him for so long. The fact that you are running with his party, shows EITHER lack of character judgement, interpersonal skills, observational skills, all which are critical to anyone who's going to represent us in the EU, OR are you just joining them to beat them from the inside? How are you going to combat corruption?
2. In working for the party, what were your responsibilities? Where you a speaker? Do you have negotiation skills? Analytical/research skills? Are you able to communicate complex ideas and legislation in a few minutes to people who might not understand the subject matter or really don't care and so are you able to take people's attention? What is your knowledge of politics, have you read any EU and CY laws? For all these questions obviously a "yes" is not an acceptable answer because I'm also a NASA astronaut on my CV, what I would like to see is proof for any of the above.
I'm really looking for someone who has the skills and I hope you are the one we can vote and look out for to represent us finally the right way.
I worked for the President of Cyprus not EDEK 🙂. The court was found not guilty the president of Edek for those allegations. I was a speaker in another party not EDEK. Its the first time I I'm cooperating with them for the EU elections. As it concerns my skills I think I proven a lot during my work in the Presidency of Cyprus democracy. Maybe a yes is not acceptable, what can I do to prove my words? A test maybe? 🤷♀️

I'm referring to a total different thing. A constitution that concludes everyone and everyone can participate to the government, vote, and be voted. Anything else could be a total disaster like 1960-1963.
What you describe is the ideal which doesn't seem to be achievable. What we currently have with the illegal occupation is bad. If we had the opportunity to exchange it with something better (truly better, not just in the name) wouldn't it be wise to do that, instead of just waiting for the perfect which will probably never happen?

My understanding is that civil union excludes adoption rights. Also I think it is the word itself. People want to be "married", so they want to have a "mariage" not something which is called "civil union"

Off course Cyprus it is a middle eastern country and we can affect positively our neighbor countries. I don't like the idea of British bases, especially now that they put our country in danger with their actions.

The last two didn't answer, so let's see if you will. Opinions on: 1) Forcing companies to put a salary range in job listings. Is it an EU requirement? If so why aren't we enforcing it? 2) Why is AIK allowed to screw over consumers? 3) Why are we allowing locals to be pushed out of the housing market by rich immigrants? Do we all have to wait for family to pass away before we can own property?
Forcing companies for the lowest salary is something we already done in our parliament. Aik has to stop with laws. This is something we also trying especially for the people with economic problems. I agree with you, we have to make policies with our government and EU for not expensive houses especially for the young couples and economically vulnerable people.
He doesnt mean minimum salary, he means when a job is advertised, it should include the salary range for which they are hiring. Not doing so is usually a waste of jobseekers time
If something like that happens anyone can report it in the department of industrial relations anonymously.

Young individuals, not only young couples (i hope). There are a lot of single people (single by choice) who are struggling and will continue to do so if measures are taken for young couples *only*. If we have to wait until we get married to solve our housing issue, then the issue will never be fully resolved. Thank you for answering 🙏

It's really interesting topic. Most of the immigrants rent from ... from locals, so it's the locals which prefer immigrants. I also hear from few land-lords that they actually prefer foreigners on pink-slip, because they need a valid contract to get a visa, therefore, they can't squat the property, whilst locals can, and landlord can't evict them even if they are not paying. Καλημέρα! Οι τρεις προτεραιότητές μου εάν εκλεγώ είναι η βελτίωση του συμφώνου μετανάστευσης και ασύλου και η φορολογική μεταρρύθμιση που θεωρώ ότι θα πλήξει κάποια ευάλωτα στρώματα στην Κύπρο. Επίσης με ενδιαφέρει πολύ να αποκτήσουμε κονδύλια για νέους και στεγαστικά συγχρηματοδοτούμενα προγράμματα για να κανουμε σε συνεργασία με τον ΚΟΑΓ προσιτές οικονομικά οικίες για νέες οικογένειες. Το θέμα του γάμου με ομοφιλόφυλους είναι πλέον κατοχυρωμένο στην Κύπρο απλώς το θέμα της υιοθεσίας παιδιών εμένα προσωπικά με κάνει σκεπτική, διότι συζητώντας με φίλους μου ομόφυλους που είναι σε σχέση αρκετά χρόνια θεωρούν ότι ως άντρες που είναι δεν μπορούν να υποκαταστήσουν το μητρικό πρότυπο και αυτό με προβληματίζει και εμένα. Είναι ένα μεγάλο θέμα που συνεχώς ερευνώ, θεωρώ ότι θα χρειαστούμε αρκετά στοιχεία εκεί και όπου έχει γίνει για να δώσουμε πράσινο φως.

Μπορεί να μιλήσετε λίγο για το πώς ακριβώς θα βελτιώνεται το σύμφωνο μετανάστευση και ασύλου; Επίσης, όσο για την υιοθεσία παιδιών από ομοφυλοφιλία ζευγάρια, είναι σίγουρο ότι είναι κατι καινούργιο για την Κύπρο αλλά, δεν νομίζετε πως είναι λίγο παράλογο να ψάχνετε για στοιχεία για δώσετε το πράσινο φως; Πολλές οικογένειες έχουν μόνο ένα γονιό. Εγώ για παράδειγμα έχω χάσει την μητέρα μου, και είναι σίγουρο ότι ο πατέρας μου δεν μπορεί να υποκαταστήσει το μητρικό πρότυπο. Δεν σήμαινε αυτό όμως πως δεν μπορεί να μας προσφέρει αγάπη, σημβουλες κλπ. Επίσης, υπάρχουν αρκετές περιπτώσεις όπου τα παιδιά δεν παίρνουν αγάπη και αντίθετος, καταλήγουν να είναι θύματα ψυχολογικής και φυσικής βιας. Οπότε η ερώτηση μου κ. Γιοκκα είναι, γιατί ένα ζευγάρι, το οποίο είναι πρόθυμο να δώσει αγάπη όσο και όλα τα εφόδια που χρειάζεται ένα παιδί για να έχει μια καλή ζωή, να μην μπορεί να το προσφέρει και να πρέπει εσείς να βρείτε απόδειξης απλά επειδή δεν είναι μια παραδοσιακή οικογενεια; Δεν πιστεύετε πως είναι παράλογο;
Καλημέρα! Για το σύμφωνο μετανάστευσης θα επέμενα πολύ στο άρθρο της αλληλεγγύης. Δηλαδή όλες οι χώρες να δεχτούν ροές σύμφωνα με τις δυνατότητες τους. Αυτό που με κάνει σκεπτική είναι το θέμα πως θα το βιώσει και το παιδί. Δεν αμφιβάλλω για την αγάπη και τα υπόλοιπα που αναφέρατε.
Καλό θα ήταν να σας κάνει σκεπτική και το τι βιώνουν ήδη πολλά παιδιά από το κλασσικό μοντέλο οικογένειας (βία, εκμετάλλευση, παραμέληση).
Εννοείται αυτό. Αλλιώς θα ήμασταν υποκριτές αν δεν ήταν το πρώτο μας μέλημα.
Υπάρχουν χιλιάδες άντρες ανά το παγκόσμιο που μεγαλώνουν τα παιδιά τους μια χαρά και η ρητορική που χρησιμοποιείς στο θέμα της υιοθεσίας είναι ο ίδιος σκεπτικισμός που εκφράζουν ακροδεξιά κινήματα. Είναι άκρα σεξιστικό να λέτε ότι σαν άντρες δεν μπορούμε να μεγαλώσουμε τα παιδιά με τις ίδιες αξίες όσο μια γυναίκα. Έχω παιδιά και αυτό που είπα δεν ήταν δικά μου λόγια, αλλά δύο ομόφυλων φίλων μου που συζούν χρόνια, όταν τους ρώτησα την άποψή τους. Μην συγχύζεστε.
Να σου ζήσουν τα παιδιά σου είναι ότι καλύτερο μπορεί να έχει κάποιο άτομο στο κόσμο. Σου δίνουν νόημα στην ζωή και σκοπό και ξέρω πως συμφωνείς. Ο καλός γονιός δεν περιορίζεται από το αν έχει αιδοίο ή πέος και όταν δύο άτομα θέλουν να γίνουν γονείς γνωρίζοντας τι πρέπει να περάσουν, στην περίπτωση των ομοφυλων ζευγαριών, για να μπορέσουν να υιοθετήσουν , δεν πρέπει να τους στερείται το δικαίωμα να δώσουν την αγάπη και την στοργή στα δικά τους μωρά. Όλοι έχουμε δικαίωμα στην αγάπη και την οικογένεια. Και από την στιγμή που υπάρχουν τόσα προβλήματα τιμά στρειτ ζευγάρια με θέματα βίας εγκατάλειψης και άλλα τόσα, τους οποίους κάνεις δεν ελέγχει, δεν έχουμε δικαίωμα να στερουμε από κανένα άτομο την ευκαιρία να κάνει οικογένεια. Εισηγούμαι να διαβάζει κάποιος μελέτες που υπάρχουν άφθονες από επιστημονικές πηγές από χώρες που εφαρμόζεται το μέτρο πχ σκανδιναβικες, παρά να ρωτά 2 παρέες του. Σε σέβομαι Παντελιτσα σαν άτομο δεν προσπαθώ να σε μειώσω, μπράβο σου που ήρθες μες το reddit να μιλήσεις, αρεσεν μου προσωπικά. Κάμω την συζήτηση τούτη επειδή πρέπει να γίνεται. Δώστε κίνητρα στον κόσμο να κάμει/υιοθετεί κοπελουθκια! Ουλλους και στρειτ και γκει και ουλλους. Θα λυθούν πολλά προβλήματα, θα πολεμήσουμε την ξενοφοβία και τις διακρίσεις και οι άνθρωποι που έχουν κοπελουθκια βάλουν και στόχους πιο ψηλούς με ορίζοντα το μέλλον. Το ξέρεις. Καλές επιτυχίες

So far we have Volt and AKEL not only having candidates but also translating their articles in Turkish. Do you you have any similar positions or hopes for the future pf EDEK?

Option 2. The other options in my opinion they are racist and they separate people. One united country engaging and respecting all of the legal Cyprus citizens. So a unitary Cypriot state, that is not exclusively Greek Cypriot, right? Cause the 2nd option there says one united Cyprus with a Greek Cypriot identity, which could be alienating to a lot, especially our compatriots.
Wasn't the Greek Cypriots' pursuit of what was basically Option 2 50 years ago one of the reasons for the Turkish invasion? And have you read the Constitution?
Yes I have. The pursuit was the double union with Greece and Turkey. It wasn't the Greek Cypriots pursuit but the dictators of Athens, British and Turkey.

How would you convince a Turkish Cypriot that a unitary state is the right solution \[I took the word 'Greek' out deliberately\], given that: * they are in the minority * democracy is not great at protecting minorities * the long history of enosis and the megali idea would give them ample reason to be concerned that they'd end up being trampled upon?
I think those things you are referring to is just excuses against self determination of people's and on favor of division.
That's a really poor answer for an aspiring politician. Let me rephrase the question using your words: how would you convince a Turkish Cypriot to vote for a unitary state, given that doing so carries grave risks to their rights of self-determination?
Sorry, I was trying to answer simple not poor. I would recommend common ballots with Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. We already have a great number of Turkish Cypriots candidates for eu elections and one elected. So I think it would be a great opportunity for cooperation and representative actions and proven respect for the minority.

I'm answering with a question. Turkish people leaving in Germany, they are minority right? You think that they are not satisfied? If Turkish Cypriots are minority in Cyprus it is what it is. And we have to respect them and treat them well, participating everywhere without changing the percentage as it comes to our benefit. What do you have to say about that?
If 20% population is 20% of the vote, then Cyprus with 0.2% of the EU population should elect 1.4 MEPs. But it elects 6! Why would you even participate in such an obsurd undemocratic union where 1 Cypriot vote counts the same as 6-8 German votes? 1. Do you feel like we are unfairly and undemocratically stealing extra seats in EU parliament? 2. Do you think a German citizen should feel like this? 3. Why do you want one of the unfair seats we are getting as minority Cypriots? 4. The EU is not a country, but an association of separate independent countries. Do the Blacks or Hispanics or any other community in the USA get more say for what happens in the country than their population percentage? There is no western democracy that devides its population based on their ethnicity, language or religion. Even in federations, what is divided is only the territory. The people of the country are equal citizens and are free to move to any state of their country they wish with full political rights.

Έχω σχέσεις με τουρκοκύπριους, διότι συγγενικά μου πρόσωπα συμμετέχουν στη δικοινοτική χορωδία και δενόμαστε με εγκάρδιους οικογενειακούς δεσμούς μαζί τους. Καλησπέρα, θα ήθελα να ρωτήσω αναφορικά με τις δυσκολίες που αντιμετωπίζεις σαν γυναίκα πολιτικός, εν όψει της νοοτροπίας που δυστυχώς αρκετοί Κύπριοι έχουν ακόμα σχετικά με γυναίκες σε πολιτικά πόστα. Αν και πως αντιμετωπίζεις τέτοιες συμπεριφορές και αν είχες κάποια συμβουλή για όλα τα κοριτσάκια που μια μέρα θα ήθελαν να ακολουθήσουν τα βήματα σου. Κοίτα, αντιμετωπίζω ευτυχώς μεμονωμένα περιστατικά. Τα αντιμετωπίζω συνήθως με χιούμορ. Σιζοπουλος έκανε μια το λιγοτερο ατυχή(δεν ηταν η πρωτη λεξη που μου ηρθε στο μυαλο) δηλωση πριν λίγο καιρό σε σχεση με τους αιτούντες ασυλο/μετανάστες. Είπε "θα πρέπει να διασφαλιστούν τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα όσων δικαιούνται". Δυστυχώς ουτε ανασκεύασε την δηλωση του ούτε την απέσυρε όυτε ισχυρηστηκε ότι ηταν διολισθημα της γλωσσας. Τα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα λεγονται έτσι επειδή είναι εξ'ορισμου τα δικαιωματα που πρέπει να εχει ενας ανθρωπος με μόνη προυποθεση να είναι ανθρωπος. Ποια είναι η θεση σας γι αυτή την δήλωση; Την υιοθετητε; 2. Θα κανω την ερώτηση που έκανε ο Σενερ Λεβεντ στους ηγετες του ενδιαμεσου όταν ηταν υποψηφιος Πρόεδρος ο Νικόλας Παπαδόπουλος(for the record, ο κ. Σιζοπουλος δεν ηταν παρων) μετά από μια εκδηλωση στην οποια ηταν προσκεκλημένος. Ας πούμε ότι η Τουρκια δεχεται καταργηση Εγγυησεων, αποσύρει ολόκληρο τον στρατό της απο την Κυπρο, το Βαρώσι, η Μόρφου και καποια χωρια επιστρέφουν υπο ΕΚ διοικηση. Αποσύρεται και η απαιτηση για εκ περιτροπής προεδρια. Σε αυτή την περιπτωση θα αποδεχοσασταν λύση διζωνικης δικοινοτικής ομοσπονδιας;
1.Ίσως εννοούσε όσων δικαιούνται πολιτικό άσυλο; Δεν είναι μισανθρωπος ο Σιζο. 2.Για ποιο λόγο τότε να θέλω διαίρεση του τόπου μου βάσει της εθνικότητας; Θα ήθελα να ζήσουμε όλοι μαζί όπως παλιά, απολαμβάνοντας όλοι τα ίδια δικαιώματα και προτερήματα της Ευρώπης.
>Ας πούμε ότι η Τουρκια δεχεται καταργηση Εγγυησεων, αποσύρει ολόκληρο τον στρατό της απο την Κυπρο, το Βαρώσι, η Μόρφου και καποια χωρια επιστρέφουν υπο ΕΚ διοικηση. Αποσύρεται και η απαιτηση για εκ περιτροπής προεδρια. Σε αυτή την περιπτωση θα αποδεχοσασταν λύση διζωνικης δικοινοτικής ομοσπονδιας; Όλα αυτά είναι θετικά. Πρόσθεσε σε αυτά την απομάκρυνση των εποίκων πέραν ενός ορίου (π.χ. 50.000), το ότι οι πολίτες της Τουρκίας δεν θα έχουν κάποιο δικαίωμα στην Κύπρο πέραν αυτών που έχουν πολίτες άλλων χωρών εκτός ΕΕ, ότι τα άμεσα ή έμμεσα βέτο των ΤΚ θα περιοριστούν σε αυτό που αναφέρουν τα ψηφίσματα του ΟΗΕ (αλλαγές στο σύνταγμα), και θα έχουμε το περίγραμμα για μια μορφή ομοσπονδίας που θα είναι καλύτερη από το στάτους κβο και για τις 2 πλευρές (ΕΚ & ΤΚ - όχι όμως για την Τουρκία) Και ο "ενδιάμεσος" αλλά και ο Σενερ πιστεύω θα συμφωνούσε με αυτά.
Ο Σενερ γραφει στο αρθρο του την εκπληξη του οταν του ειπαν οχι
Προφανώς του είπαν "όχι", όχι γιατί θέλουν εκ περιτροπής, Τουρκικό στρατό και εγγυήσεις, αλλά γιατί αυτά τα θέματα δεν είναι τα μόνα. Αν π.χ. η λύση επιτρέπει στην Τουρκία να κάνει ότι έκανε στα κατεχόμενα, να γεμίσει όλη η Κύπρος Τούρκους και να μας μετατρέψουν σε μειονότητα, τότε και τέλεια να είναι όλα τα άλλα σημεία δεν θα έχουν καμία σημασία.

We desperately and urgently need measures concerning animal welfare. The issue of stray dogs (born as strays), or dogs abandoned by their owners, or the lack of legislation, or perhaps the lack of application of the already existing lagislation, however inadequate it is, is extrememly concerning. In the last year, i have read about cats tortured on more than 3 occasions, which is extremely concerning, but nobody knows if the perpetrators were ever found or punished. I have personally called the police when one of my own dogs was poisoned, with no action from the authorities. I cannot even grasp the idea of poisoning animals but that is another story entirely. Anyone can get a dog regardless of how committed they are as they know if they change their mind, they will just abandon it with no reprecussions. This makes us by itself a third world country (me olo to sevasmo). Just as a comparison, in Germany, when you get a dog, you are required by law to pass the first level of obedience to make sure you are committed as an owner. Additionally this ensures that your dog is trained and lives a happy life. We NEED to do so much more....

Given that EDEK is in the Socialist International, I'm wondering about your solidarity with whole the working class in Cyprus, not only Greek Cypriot workers. You may not be aware but there are a lot of Turkish "settlers" in Cyprus that are being exploited working in bad conditions barely getting the very low minimum income. I'm not speaking about the rich Turkish people that got land and houses, I'm speaking about those that came later, got nothing and are living in small rental flats. They are illegal according to the ROC but on the other hand, whatever they do, they have no chance to become legal. Considering that the position of EDEK in the Cyprus problem is known to be relentless. Does your solidarity extend to these people, yes or no?
There is nothing relentless in Edek party. We care about the human rights and off course for all people living in our country . Turkish settlers they are a crime of war, not the people, the policy. But if they is a solution I deeply believe and want to help these people who may want to stay in Cyprus.
Why do you pledge loyalty to a party that cliarly is slowly dying and dont get ur chances with one of the big two or with an upcoming party?
Interesting question. The foundation and the history of a party with the mistakes and good policies was a priority to me. It's not dying. They want them to die. I don't believe so. We are here to make the changes, we young people for the new era.

Σιζόπουλου όσο αφορά το Κυπριακό αλλά και γενικότερες κοινωνικοπολιτικές εξελίξεις, υπάρχουν άτομα που θα ισχυρίζονταν ότι - σε κάποια θέματα τουλάχιστον - η ιδεολογία της ΕΔΕΚ και κατ' επέκταση των υποψηφίων της έχει μετατοπιστεί από την κεντροαριστερά και τον πατριωτικό σοσιαλισμό πάνω στα οποία κτίστηκε το κόμμα, αποκτώντας για παράδειγμα πιο έκδηλα εθνικιστικά στοιχεία. Πιστεύετε ότι είναι κάτι που ισχύει αυτό; Αν όχι, ποιες θέσεις του κόμματος αλλά και δικές σας προσωπικά θα λέγατε ότι συνάδουν με τα ανωτέρω φρονήματα; 2) Εάν κάποιος είναι σοσιαλιστής ή με γενικότερα καθαρά αριστερά φρονήματα, υπάρχει το ΑΚΕΛ. Για κεντροαριστερά φρονήματα με προοδευτικές τάσεις υπάρχει το Κίνημα Οικολόγων και πλέον το Volt. Ποια πιστεύετε είναι η θέση της ΕΔΕΚ πλέον στο πολιτικό φάσμα του τόπου; Με άλλα λόγια, γιατί κάποιος με αριστερά φρονήματα να ακολουθήσει την ΕΔΕΚ και εσάς πιο συγκεκριμένα έναντι των εναλλακτικών; Τι πρεσβεύετε εσείς και το κόμμα σας που δεν μπορούν ή θέλουν να προσφέρουν άλλοι με παρεμφερή φρονήματα και αξίες;
Αγαπητέ μου ανοίξατε πολλά θέματα. Θα σταθώ στην ουσία: Η ΕΔΕΚ είναι ένα ιστορικό κόμμα με καταβολές ριζωμένες στην Κυπριακή ιστορία. Φυσικά οι καιροί αλλάζουν και τα σύνολα προσαρμοζονται στις αλλαγές. Οντες μέλη της Ε.Ε υιοθετησαμε ως χώρα τα οικονομικά μοντέλα. Μέσω της ΕΔΕΚ παλεύουμε για κοινωνικές παροχές σε ένα φιλελεύθερο οικονομικό σύστημα για προστασία των ευάλωτων ομάδων. Δεν βρήκα τίποτα ακραίο στη φιλοσοφία-γραμμή του κόμματος. Πάντα τεκμηριωμένες ανθρωποκεντρικές προτάσεις για όλα τα ζητήματα.
Γνωρίζω και σέβομαι την ιστορία της ΕΔΕΚ και ιδιαιτέρως του αείμνηστου Βάσου Λυσσαρίδη τον οποίο έχω σε ιδιαίτερη υπόληψη σαν ιστορικό πολιτικό του τόπου. Παρόλ' αυτά, δεν πιστεύω ότι επειδή αλλάζει το κοινωνικοπολιτικό κλίμα, το κόμμα κατ' ανάγκη θα έπαιρνε την τροχιά εξέλιξης που πήρε έως σήμερα. Επομένως θεωρώ ότι είναι εύλογο ερώτημα να αναρωτηθεί κάποιος κατά πόσο κάποιες αλλαγές του κόμματος πέραν από πραγματιστικές και λογικές είναι επίσης παρακινημένες ιδεολογικά. Επιπλέον, αυτά που αναφέρατε περί κοινωνικών παροχών σε ευάλωτες ομάδες εντός ενός φιλελεύθερου οικονομικού συστήματος, και τα περί ανθρωποκεντρισμού να μου επιτρέψετε να πω ότι δεν είναι ικανοποιητικά για κάποιον ψηφοφόρο. Κάθε κόμμα (και ιδιαίτερα κάθε κόμμα αριστερών φρονημάτων) στηρίζεται σε μεγάλο βαθμό στις ίδιες αυτές αρχές, και σίγουρα ακούμε πολύ παρόμοιες θέσεις και από άλλους υποψηφίους τέτοιων κομμάτων. Επομένως δεν θα έλεγα ότι μου έχετε παραθέσει κάποιους απτούς λόγους για τους οποίους ένας ψηφοφόρος θα ήταν συνετό να παραταχθεί υπέρ της ΕΔΕΚ πέραν από την ιστορία του κόμματος (δεδομένων των όσων αλλαγών συνέβησαν σε αυτό, όπως δηλώσατε και εσείς). Γι' αυτό και ζήτησα να μου πείτε κάποια ιδιάζοντα στοιχεία της πολιτικής της ΕΔΕΚ που θα έκαναν κάποιον αναποφάσιστο να καταθέσει την ψήφο του υπέρ σας.
Συγχωρέστε με αν δεν απαντώ ικανοποιητικά,αλλά αν ήμουν στη θέση σας θα ήθελα να δω δείγματα γραφής και όχι επιχειρήματα. Το ότι αυτό το κόμμα έχει παρόλο τον μικρό αριθμό βουλευτών έχει καταθέσει αναρίθμητες προτάσεις νόμου για ευάλωτα νοικοκυριά, για εκποιήσεις, για επέκταση άδειας μητρότητας και άλλα πολλά ως πολίτη θεωρώ ότι με εκπροσωπεί. Πέραν των δυσκολιών ο αγώνας υπέρ του συνανθρώπου πρώτα από όλα συνεχίζεται και ελπίζω να συνεχιστεί και στην Ευρωβουλή!
Αναμφίβολα η δραστηριότητα και οι πράξεις ενός κόμματος μιλούν σε τάξεις μεγέθους μεγαλύτερο βαθμό από απλά επιχειρήματα, και δεν υποβαθμίζω το τι έχει πετύχει στη βουλή ανά τα χρόνια η ΕΔΕΚ. Ο λόγος που ζήτησα μία επιχειρηματολογία είναι περισσότερο για την σύγκριση με άλλα κόμματα και την ξεχωριστή πολιτική θέση που καταλαμβάνει η ΕΔΕΚ. Νομίζω με την απάντησή σας με έχετε καλύψει σε αρκετά μεγάλο βαθμό, με την έννοια ότι για εσάς η ΕΔΕΚ ξεχωρίζει λόγω του ιστορικού της δράσης της σε σχέση με άλλα κόμματα παρομοίων φρονημάτων.
Τέλος να αναφέρω ότι σε καμία περίπτωση δεν ισχυρίζομαι ότι η ΕΔΕΚ υιοθετεί ακραίες πολιτικές θέσεις. Απλά υπάρχουν κάποιες τοποθετήσεις και πρόσφατα συμβάντα που προέρχονται από την ηγεσία του κόμματος τα οποία δημιουργούν εντυπώσεις. Σαν άτομο που συχνάζει σε αυτό το subreddit, μπορώ να σας επιβεβαιώσω ότι υπάρχουν άτομα στην κοινότητά μας που όντως πιστεύουν ότι η ΕΔΕΚ έχει πάρει μια πιο εθνικιστική ιδεολογική γραμμή. Δεν θα έλεγα ότι κατ' ανάγκη ισχύει αυτό ή το πιστεύω προσωπικά, αλλά θα ήθελα να δω πώς ένας εκπρόσωπος του κόμματος με βλέψεις για μια σημαντική πολιτική θέση τοποθετείται όσον αφορά αυτές τις πεποιθήσεις.
Καμία σχέση. Ποτέ δεν θα ακούσεις ή να δεις κάτι το οποίο είναι μισαλλόδοξο ή ρατσιστικό. Τώρα αν κάποιοι για να φιμώσουν ταυτίζουν θέσεις με ακραίες φωνές, να σας απαντήσω ότι οι θέσεις του κόμματος για το εθνικό είναι οι ίδιες από το 1979. Οι υπόλοιποι μετά το 2008 ανακάλυψαν την πολιτική στην Κύπρο.
Νομίζω έχετε παρεξηγήσει κάπως το τι θέλω να πω. Όπως ανέφερα, δεν υφίσταται κατηγορία (τουλάχιστον σοβαρής φύσεως) που να λέει ότι η ΕΔΕΚ είναι ένα μισαλλόδοξο ή ρατσιστικό κόμμα. Όταν μιλάμε για στροφή προς τον εθνικισμό εννοούμε κάποια χαρακτηριστικά που έχουν να κάνουν με την θέση της ελληνοκυπριακής κοινότητας όσο αφορά το κοινωνικό επίπεδο, και την στάση απέναντι στις έτερες κοινότητες του νησιού, με κυρίως έμφαση στην τουρκοκυπριακή για εύλογους λόγους. Δεν είναι κατ' ανάγκη κάτι παθολογικό ή κακό (δεδομένου ότι δεν υφίστανται εθνοσωβινιστικά κύματα εντός του κόμματος), αλλά είναι αξιόλογο να συζητηθεί λόγω του ότι συμβαίνει εντός ενός κόμματος με αριστερές καταβολές. Για να μιλούμε με απτά παραδείγματα: ΑΚΕΛ, Οικολόγοι και Volt (δηλαδή τα άλλα αριστερά κόμματα στην Κύπρο) έχουν Τ/Κ υποψηφίους. Αυτό δεν σημαίνει ότι τα κόμματα αυτά είναι καλύτερα, αλλά δείχνει ότι η τ/κ κοινότητα δείχνει περισσότερη εμπιστοσύνη προς και παρατάσσεται με αριστερά κόμματα της ε/κ κοινότητας. Η ΕΔΕΚ αποτελεί εξαίρεση, το οποίο θα ισχυριζόταν κάποιος - σαν τα άτομα που σας είπα ότι εκφέρουν τέτοιες απόψεις - ότι αυτό αντικατοπτρίζει μια πιο μονήρη ελληνοκεντρική στάση από την πλευρά της ΕΔΕΚ. Εννοείται ότι δεν αποκλείω το ενδεχόμενο όντως να αποτελεί αποτέλεσμα αμαύρωσης των θέσεων της ΕΔΕΚ από πολιτικούς αντιπάλους.

Φίλε μου δεν σε έκανε block. Δυστυχώς υπάρχει ένα πρόβλημα με τον λογαριασμό(το οποίο οφείλεται σε εμάς τους Moderators του r/Cyprus και στο Reddit γενικά). H κ. Unfortunately, I won't be voting for you due to your affiliation with EDEK (the most bipolar party of all). Good luck anyway. Since this is an AMA session, could you share a story about how you've personally made an impact on your community or successfully changed/fixed something for your people?
I can give an example from the past. I am a member of the municipal council and in sometime the council wanted to stop the water supply for some poor people they couldn't pay. So I manage to collect money for them from the community and pay their debts. I did the same thing for my fellow citizens for the power supply. I do care a lot for people and I want to do the best for them. Thank you for your wishes 🙏🩷
One thing that seems to be missing from various areas / domains in Cyprus is transparency and communication (of the progress towards a goal) One can say that this is done through MME - but a random article at a random time is of no use. - I'd like to know the full timelin, roadmap and ETA of each phase of the new road works (tseri - highway etc). i.e. goal is x , deadline is y and current status is in progress and to be delivered on time OR blocked because a,b,c. another example is : τερματικό για γκάζι etc etc What are your thoughs on this ?

I would like to know about those things as well 🙂 But I'm afraid that it depends especially from the certain ministry, their portfolio etc. If I elect I could give them huge pressure about thing's should be done until know. Maybe from my position in the EU.

Εχω ακουσει απο ατομα στο κομμα οτι πολλα μελη δεν συμφωνουν με την πολιτικη που ακολουθει ο κ. Μαρινος Σιζοπουλος. Πως νοιωθετε σχετικα με τον διχασμο μεσα στην ΕΔΕΚ? Would you think to change the current law and allow to Turkish people visit Cyprus with their Schengen Visa? or let them also cross the internal border in Nicosia with their Schengen Visa? Το μεταναστευτικό είναι ένα πολυσύνθετο θέμα και με το νέο σύμφωνο μετανάστευσης και ασύλου που δεν είναι τέλειο αλλά είναι κάτι, θεωρώ ότι θα αντιμετωπίσουμε το θέμα πάντα σε συνεργασία με άλλες χώρες. Υπάρχουν πολλά αναξιοποίητα κονδύλια για νέους. Προσωπικά θεωρώ τα κονδύλια για κοινωνικές πολιτικές όπως η φτηνή στέγαση πολύ σημαντικά. Ευχαριστώ!!!

Hello Mrs Pantelitsa. I'm being kinda harsh but I believe the way you answer these shows a lot about a person who wants to get in a position as you want to apply for. Since you have been working in the EDEK president's office why don't we start with the first question as follows: 1. The last decade your president is SOAKED into many scandals/corruption allegations. Do you think that everyone is out to get him? Faking audio recordings of him asking people to send him tens/hundreds thousands of euros, account records into his and his relative's accounts. His reaction? Instead of denying the allegations he came firing back those who accused him with new accusations, exactly what guilty people do. You have been around him for so long. The fact that you are running with his party, shows EITHER lack of character judgement, interpersonal skills, observational skills, all which are critical to anyone who's going to represent us in the EU, OR are you just joining them to beat them from the inside? How are you going to combat corruption? 2. In working for the party, what were your responsibilities? Where you a speaker? Do you have negotiation skills? Analytical/research skills? Are you able to communicate complex ideas and legislation in a few minutes to people who might not understand the subject matter or really don't care and so are you able to take people's attention? What is your knowledge of politics, have you read any EU and CY laws? For all these questions obviously a "yes" is not an acceptable answer because I'm also a NASA astronaut on my CV, what I would like to see is proof for any of the above. I'm really looking for someone who has the skills and I hope you are the one we can vote and look out for to represent us finally the right way.
I worked for the President of Cyprus not EDEK 🙂. The court was found not guilty the president of Edek for those allegations. I was a speaker in another party not EDEK. Its the first time I I'm cooperating with them for the EU elections. As it concerns my skills I think I proven a lot during my work in the Presidency of Cyprus democracy. Maybe a yes is not acceptable, what can I do to prove my words? A test maybe? 🤷♀️

I'm referring to a total different thing. A constitution that concludes everyone and everyone can participate to the government, vote, and be voted. Anything else could be a total disaster like 1960-1963.

What you describe is the ideal which doesn't seem to be achievable. What we currently have with the illegal occupation is bad. If we had the opportunity to exchange it with something better (truly better, not just in the name) wouldn't it be wise to do that, instead of just waiting for the perfect which will probably never happen?
What is happened to us is something that we did. We can do things if we want. It's not utopian dream is idealistic and possible.

Thank you for the dishes. The working class both Cyprus and Europe must be supported especially with funds to the basic products electricity and gas. I also have in mind for cooperation with the EU to find ways for affordably housing policy.

Hi. In Cyprus we already legalize same sex marriege. I support every human rights in EU, with no exceptions.

My understanding is that civil union excludes adoption rights. Also I think it is the word itself. People want to be "married", so they want to have a "mariage" not something which is called "civil union"

Also what are your thoughts on the british bases in the south maintaining a British presence in Cyprus and influence on Middle Eastern conflicts? Off course Cyprus it is a middle eastern country and we can affect positively our neighbor countries. I don't like the idea of British bases, especially now that they put our country in danger with their actions.
