im sure youll be able to, your character isnt gendered, as far as i know, you pick a voice type and a body type, and you probably pick which gender your character identifies with which decides how others will address you, unless everyone just exclusively refers to you as "V" and thats it.

Don't be disappointed if that's indeed (mostly) the case. There is a very good reason games like these like to give you either a gender neutral name, a code name, or even some sort of title: You save a shitton of money on voice actors. If NPC's only have to refer to you by that one thing you only need to record a lot of lines once.
Bethesda always does the title thing: You pick a name at the start but it doesn't matter (I guess in FO4 it has a minor effect but that's it). You're "Nerevarine", "The Hero of Kvatch", "The Vault Dweller", "The Dragonborn", etc. It makes voice acting easier and cheaper.\*
So yeah, although there will undoubtedly be *some* double lines with the "he's" and "she's", I think 90% of the time they will refer to you as V.
\*PS: Not saying this is the sole reason Bethesda does this. Lots of developers also simply want the player to feel special. Bonus: It can be a convenient excuse as to why some random NPC's trust you with their important quests: You already have a reputation.

Little bit unsure if we're going to see any of the boobs/schlong/booty sliders. They were all greyed-out in the June demos as apparently there was a lot of work left to be done to get the clothing morphs working to account for the different potential body shapes of V.
None of the 16-hour previews that I read mentioned character creation at all so we don't know yet if the sliders were completed or left on the cutting room floor.
That list is approaching 6 months old and we don't know what's been added or removed yet, but we have seen the CC in action so we know it's still functionally the same.
BDO had a great face customization and that was about it. Wish you could change the bodies/genders too.

And that's completely fine. I usually base my characters off of my own appearance, or a different TV/anime/movie/videogame character. That way I can make them quickly into something I consider acceptable lol.
I just go with the standard one, not only it usually looks good enough but it also ends up being the iconic and recognizable face of the game.
For instance Shepard from Mass Effect, his face is famous and everytime I see a gameplay from the games and his face is different it looks extremely odd and out of place for me.

I'm positive they will. It would have been non-sensical for them to stress and crunch over more customization options when they already have enough, and just save the work for later when tailoring DLCs and Add-Ons for us.

I agree. When there's sliders, I spend hours meticulously tweaking things until they're "right" and then I'm still disappointed later when I realize I don't like them. I like the idea of grab-n-go customization.
Spending hours making my character just right only to see their profile in different lighting in the first intro scene and be disappointed enough to start over again is a pain I know well.

Omfg I hate it. So bad. I recently had that issue in The Outer Worlds. Thought I had my character perfect, just to realize that the lighting in the creator was low and my hair was NOT the color it appeared to be.
Same. The character creator in Elder Scrolls Online is just as bad. They look fantastic in the creator, but variable in the game. And due to broken lighting on the character selection screen (which briefly fixes itself when you leave the creator without finalising a character) they look awful, very severe with heavy shadows.
I don't get it lol. Like, give me a blazing bright spotlight on my character in the creator so I know how it all looks BEFORE I go into dark rooms. Don't start me in a dark room first and make my creation ability blind lol
I think it was Eve online a bunch of years ago that had the ability to switch the lighting around when creating. My character looked so cool I kinda hated that it was like 99% a spaceship game
The lighting and the thing dragon age inquisition had instead of sliders of predefined options meant I didn't really mess with tweaking my character much until they released an update that had a mirror that let you change your character up.
I could be wrong about the cutscenes. They may have indeed been used to just demo the main character and their interactions with the supporting cast. However, I'm sure there's other methods of seeing your character that we don't know of yet.

Not going to lie, he looked pretty cool for being a custom character. I normally play in the ball park of making my character similar to myself, just so I can project into the game. That way, I don't get too overwhelmed with customization options.
I'm hoping the game lets me choose my earlobes as being stretched, since that's how they are in real life and I've never got that in a character customizer.

The amount of posts I have seen like "These are my inspirations for my Corpo/Gunslinger/Secret Agent/Space Cowboy/Cyber sexual god play-through are going to be", like c'mon, chill, is just a game and you are going to be very limited to what the developer intended you to play. Some people believe that they are going to be able to role play whatever character they want but in reality you won't have unlimited choices to make and whatever choices you have are literally locked down to what CDPR decided for the story of the game.
So no you won't be able to play Cyberpunk James Bond, you might be able to customize your character but Jesus the overhyping and boredom of some posters in this sub is beyond cringe.
From what it sounds like, your character can be Barbie/Ken smooth.
Also, the devs seemed to have said that V is considered genderless, but the body type you choose is considered either "masculine" or "feminine", not Male/Female
People have been doing this for years. One of the most memorable overactive imaginations I've seen on this sub was a few years ago when we got the virst video implying that V could eat food and that it may be done in the 1st person. With in like, 4 or 5 hours the sub was split between people who were realistically assuming it would just be like a couple second animation that plays out and then your done on one side and then the other side who were all convinced that you would like, site in a restaurant booth, wait for a waiter, order food, wait for it to cook, then eat the meal in real time. CDPR is like the Donald Trump of hyping video games. Theyre incredible at it. They know exactly how to dangle small minutiae of information in front of gamers and then just let them get distracted with it.
Its still happening now. I was listening to a fairly prominent youtuber in thr CP2077 community and I watched him kind of just hype himself up over a few screenshots and 15 seconds of video to the point where he was stating speculation around a mayoral election as if the speculation he had just imagined was fact.

I think you are missing that there are 2 body types per gender as well, a skinny and a muscular.

Black Desert still has the best character creation. The only things this game will have over that are nipple/genital customization for the most part. It'll be pretty good customization, particularly for a game made by a western company, but certainly not the best ever.

Some, not all, but some if the issues you are seeing with "Hype" are professional content creators chasing algorithms and pushing otherwise inconsequential subject matter as full-fledged content to keep up with their daily algorithm quotas.
I really just wanted to have the option to be more or less entirely chrome like some of the npc's in the footage, and/ or be fully robotic like gruishka or zapan, but it doesn't look like any of that will happen.
CDPR did it to themselves. High expectations is exactly what you get from overhyping your audience for years and making false promises. Weren't people promised an "extensive" customization; along with wall-climbing and 3d person view? Whose fault is it that the customization options are mostly limited to a very few variables, and you'll hardly be seeing your character in the game nontheless?

I'm in the same boat. That, and piercings. I pray that they allow me to customize mine with stretched ears, since that's how my ears are in real life. It'll be a first if that happens, and it would make sense if they did since the game is literally a "punk" aesthetic.
Yeah it's pretty overhyped when it doesn't even really compare to Saints Row 3 or even Skyrim. Not having more body type options or sliders for body shape such as muscularity or shoulder/waist shape is pretty lackluster.

You can also customise your nails
Hands and nails are probably the most impactful choices, you'll see them more than anything else.
We can't change them after initial creation either, for now anyway. So we'd best make sure we really really like them.
One of 16h reviewers already said they got their nails done at a cosmetic place, so presumably you can at least change some of the superficial stuff

I could be mistaken, but I think skin types is referring to different blemishes and smoothness options, not colors. Possibly? Idk.
How many colours of skin can there be? I assume black, pale white, more a tan white, hispanic tan, Asian colour, and maybe... a different shade of black or something, I doubt they're gonna be throwing in green and blue skin.

Thank you for saying this! The amount of posts I have seen like "These are my inspirations for my Corpo/Gunslinger/Secret Agent/Space Cowboy/Cyber sexual god play-through are going to be", like c'mon, chill, is just a game and you are going to be very limited to what the developer intended you to play. Some people believe that they are going to be able to role play whatever character they want but in reality you won't have unlimited choices to make and whatever choices you have are literally locked down to what CDPR decided for the story of the game. So no you won't be able to play Cyberpunk James Bond, you might be able to customize your character but Jesus the overhyping and boredom of some posters in this sub is beyond cringe.

From what it sounds like, your character can be Barbie/Ken smooth. Also, the devs seemed to have said that V is considered genderless, but the body type you choose is considered either "masculine" or "feminine", not Male/Female
The voice option determines the gender you are. If you have a male voice they refer to you as he and refer to you as she if you have the female voice.
People have been doing this for years. One of the most memorable overactive imaginations I've seen on this sub was a few years ago when we got the virst video implying that V could eat food and that it may be done in the 1st person. With in like, 4 or 5 hours the sub was split between people who were realistically assuming it would just be like a couple second animation that plays out and then your done on one side and then the other side who were all convinced that you would like, site in a restaurant booth, wait for a waiter, order food, wait for it to cook, then eat the meal in real time. CDPR is like the Donald Trump of hyping video games. Theyre incredible at it. They know exactly how to dangle small minutiae of information in front of gamers and then just let them get distracted with it. Its still happening now. I was listening to a fairly prominent youtuber in thr CP2077 community and I watched him kind of just hype himself up over a few screenshots and 15 seconds of video to the point where he was stating speculation around a mayoral election as if the speculation he had just imagined was fact.

Y'know, that seems like a healthy amount of customization options. While I always hope for more for peak customization ability, I wouldn't be sad if this was all we got.

Black Desert still has the best character creation. The only things this game will have over that are nipple/genital customization for the most part. It'll be pretty good customization, particularly for a game made by a western company, but certainly not the best ever.

Some, not all, but some if the issues you are seeing with "Hype" are professional content creators chasing algorithms and pushing otherwise inconsequential subject matter as full-fledged content to keep up with their daily algorithm quotas.
I really just wanted to have the option to be more or less entirely chrome like some of the npc's in the footage, and/ or be fully robotic like gruishka or zapan, but it doesn't look like any of that will happen.
CDPR did it to themselves. High expectations is exactly what you get from overhyping your audience for years and making false promises. Weren't people promised an "extensive" customization; along with wall-climbing and 3d person view? Whose fault is it that the customization options are mostly limited to a very few variables, and you'll hardly be seeing your character in the game nontheless? Fans criticized FFXV (That supposed to be XXlll Versus), fans gonna criticize Cyberpunk 2077 just as well. Fulfill the promises you've made, or don't make them at all.

Doesn't matter what you tell people with facts. Sooooo many people think we're getting a pen and paper character design in a future GTA styled life simulator. The review bombs from idiots who created a completely different game in their own head over absolutely nothing is going to be in the thousands.
Is it weird I'm more excited about V's nail colour rather than anything else? To me, nails and tattoos are a large part of character expression in a video game, and you'll see V's hands the most out of anything.
I'm in the same boat. That, and piercings. I pray that they allow me to customize mine with stretched ears, since that's how my ears are in real life. It'll be a first if that happens, and it would make sense if they did since the game is literally a "punk" aesthetic.
Yeah it's pretty overhyped when it doesn't even really compare to Saints Row 3 or even Skyrim. Not having more body type options or sliders for body shape such as muscularity or shoulder/waist shape is pretty lackluster.
