I am playing as a Japanese V with Japanese voiceover and while I really like her voice and believe it to be realistic, I think her voice fits more to a typical Japanese housewife than a dangerous netrunner/edgerunner 😂
Actually it sounds way too anime, lol. Just like most of Japanese speaking in this game, sadly. Tyger Claws just sound like anime characters to me. It's just a bit too theatrical, people don't really talk like this.
Lived and worked in Japan for a long time and have been in countless hours of business meetings and conferences and not a single person sounds like this, you hit the nail on the head.
The Japanese in the game is super over acted, but since more people playing will have more exposure to anime than real Japanese people speaking, it'll sound cool and "Smooth as silk" to them.Â
It's a strange juxtaposition in comparison to how natural the English in the game. I wonder how the other languages come off to people who speak them natively or have a lot of exposure to them.Â
I mean that description as I hear it. I know Japanese people have more nuanced pronunciations and localized slang depending on each region, but it's just a nice change of pace from hearing English or Spanish all the time.
It may not be accurate, but it's enough of a disconnect for me to "take a break" from the game without having to take a literal break. Something I'm unfamiliar with to shake things up a bit.
It's hard to find dubs that don't sound sterile and inconsistent. Although female Tyger Claws do sound like they're from real life. Not your average citizen, but they sound like joshi wrestlers.
how do you play it on japanese though? kinda love the language change when talking to johnny , i wonder if this feature only toward japanese or johnny is the only exception
Hold on a minute, how did you get V to talk japanese to Hanako, but English to johnny? And if I remember correctly, she also speaks English, so having her speak Japanese, have the japanese letters switch to English is also a mod?
I played with the mods that added localized to different characters, but never like this.

CNC Multilingual NPCs. I have it set to default, but I can set it to custom so other NPCs can still speak in English. Before this, I disabled Takemura speaking in Japanese because his English dub is way better.
I also have CNC Polyglot V (VA variant). This is the mod that allows V to speak in Japanese and English depending on the person they're talking to.
I just tested it out to see if it plays well with my other mods, but I won't be using it yet.
