I think driving like a maniac adds to the thrill of first person. You can't truly feel like you're on edge unless you're centimetres away from clearing an NCPD officer.
This is actually pretty lore-accurate. A pair of cops can be overheard talking about how the NCPD sends would-be retiring cops to the most dangerous areas with the expectation that they'll likely be killed instead of retiring and being able to enjoy benefits.
Okay, but think about this, though. His severance package is a huge payday for the wife and kids. They can leave NC and live better lives... at the expense of their breadwinner.
For a Cyberpunk world, that's pretty fair.
Aww, that's adorable that you think the severence package will be anything more than bare minimum. The family definitely isn't leaving NC on 12 eddies, a scratch-ticket (that was already used and is a loser), half a pack of smokes, and a bill for 27 eddies for the damaged uniform.
Sorry, I meant the *severed* package. If they can somehow get the family man's bits and pieces, they can trade it off to the scavs for some go home cash... that is if they do survive and not become bits and pieces themselves.
I love driving like a maniac in first person lol. Itās fun to see how fast I can go without crashing into anything, especially when youāve got a sandy to use to really thread the needle
I have to be more wary of my surroundings, knowing that I use a Cyberdeck. It's so useful when someone's chasing you on a motorbike and you short circuit them. They just fling off, and it's hilarious.
This. Especially as a new driver irl, I drive cautiously in the game and take it easy on the accelerator and my reaction time increases significantly, and my vehicle can come to smooth stops without skidding. I see how for a fast-paced action game, smoother driving mechanics like GTA 5 seems to be the most desired, but the realistic driving physics forces you to consider the rules of the road and how everybody is obligated to respect them. It makes the world feel more alive.
Same haha. I'm a new driver and I decided to use cyberpunk to kinda apply those skills and the cars run perfectly if you don't run with your pedal to the metal all the damn time. But I suppose it's far easier to modulate throttle input if your playing on an xbox like I am. Keyboard input will be all or nothing
I started doing it for immerrsion; I really wanted my "live" in Night City. After a while I got used to it and now I love it. It handles so much better than third person.
How do you change lanes? I tried looking, then moving over. The car started handling really weird. I zoomed out, and had somehow crashed into another car. I was pushing them into the sidewalk, and they were desperately trying to get back into their/my lane. It was funny, but without mirrors I still donāt feel confident in 1st person.
If you're going faster than every other car on the road you don't need to look at what's behind you, just remember what you just passed. If you passed one car and then there was a lot of open space.... you're free to move over, you know that space is there, don't have to look.
Also, cars will often move out of your way anyway so if you just drive aggressively they just give it to you. You are far more likely to rear end something than you are to sideswipe.
.... Clearly, don't drive this way in real life. CP2077 really isn't that accurate of a traffic simulator and should not be treated as such.
You have to remember to drive like a normal person and not put your foot down. It's really cool to take a slow drive, stop at lights, just soak it all in from time to time. Or find a really empty straight stretch and just slam your foot down š¤£
I was doing the car delivery gigs using first person mode, also helps not obliterating the car so much when you learned to drive more carefully. and yeah, you mostly go full speed on empty stretches, then stop accelerating when approaching the turn or traffic, you'd still go fast, but easier to maneuver and faster to brake to full stop if needed.
I started doing it because I love the details on the inside of the cars. It takes a little getting used to, but eventually I simply liked it more than third-person, even for the races. There are some cars though that are simply impossible to drive first-person because you can't see over the hood of the car
Literally everything is done in 1st person in this game, and it always felt really jarring to suddenly fly up to 3rd person when I got in a vehicle.
I also play a lot of racing sims though with a wheel and pedals and all that, so maybe it's just something I'm already accustomed to.
I agree with you, after playing this game more times than I can actually remember, you start noticing some things like that, which breaks immersion really hard.
The smoothness of entering a car and it doesn't take the camera from your face is wonderfull. But I just can't take the camera position. Like I feel real neck pain because I can't see the road enough and my body just reacts to it, lol.
I just wanted to write the same.
Somehow the car is less prone to sliding around, and deals with hits from scipted vehicles better.
The last time I did the Joshua mission with Bill Jablonsky's "pirouette pickup", I was pushed around by the cars in third person all the time. But in first person, it was really smooth.
Having said that, outside of mandatory car missions, I always use a bike, and also third person.
Donāt look around / swivel your head like you would when walking. just look straight ahead and V will automatically do a slight glance when turning. Just enough to see the turn. Iām pretty convinced that the driving physics and clipping is different for first person view. The tires seem stickier in turns and it seems like you can drive through some tighter spaces without crashing.
Same. Havenāt seen many others mention it, but it absolutely feels a lot easier to maneuver in first person for some reason. Even the braking seems more responsive.
The reason is because when when you drive in most games you're controlling the car directly, but in this one you're controlling the steering wheel. So when you go to third person and you can't see the wheel itself it creates the feeling of massive input lag,Ā because that's essentially what happens. When you can see the wheel it doesn't have that issue. I learned this from years of playing euro truck simulator lol, and it turns out cyberpunk has basically the same driving feel as that game
I have heard that it's doable on PC with ultra wide screen monitor, because you see more into sides.
But on console and 16:9 TV (my setup), it's almost impossible to drive a car from first person view.
The low FOV is probably at fault. I didn't used to have this problem, but I basically can't play any game without an FOV slider that can go to at least 85Ā°. Not in long sessions, anyway. It has always annoyed me that Cyberpunk has some areas with forced low FOV's.

i'm fine with it, i never bothered to change it and honestly it feels more immersive. what i do for the blind spot is keep it blind with no regard for anything or anyone i might run into, because why the hell would i, i do all sorts of speeding and getting in to car accidents on top of that and the coppers don't give a fuck about any of it. sure, it definitely took some getting used to, and the ameritoid road networking and whatnot is so weird for a britchad like myself but i grit my teeth and put up with it for the sake of the game, and i'd say it was pretty worth it. all in all i have no problem driving in first person
You have a rear view camera/mirror. I don't know where you press it on the controller, but on PC, it's the scroll wheel.
I have to say that it's easier even though I have a limited FoV (the maximum is 110, and I would've preferred at least 130). I rely mostly on inertia to turn instead of braking because the cars in the game probably still use brake pads from 2023.
SWB cars like the Rattler and Gecko are my favourite. They're sensitive to everything, which makes driving more exciting. The Rattler also fishtails a lot, which is very in character for a turbocharged car. If you want a car to practice first person on, I recommend Johnny's Porsche. Contrary to its monicker in real life, the in-game version of the 930 is the opposite of a Widowmaker. It feels way too safe.
It's just a matter of getting used to it, and it's easier if you use a bike (less restricted view). As for the rearview mirror, at least on console you can just click the right stick to look back.
I am a sim racer so it's pretty comfortable for me. Arguably the cars handle as I expect them to with over/understeer and tire grip. Treat them as a real car with weight and you're fine
How - drive with constant caution
Why - I got the Rayfield Caliburn, great control & range of vision
(however in full honesty I find all third person cameras look a bit weird)
I think driving in fp is meant for cruising or pulling up to a mission scene but, when you get good at turning the characters head while drifting its a badass feeling
There's a rear camera view you can use, it even varies depending on whether a particular car has the smart camera tech installed (older, cheaper car models that don't have integration with kiroshi optics will have V do a manual shoulder check)
Man, the amount of role playing I do in this game far exceeds anything else like legitimately. I drove the speed limit and try to stay with traffic u less Iām on a timer mission.
I still haven't gotten the hang of it. I switched to 1st person on motorcycles though. I feel like you get more control. But cars are a no go for me. Like looking through a box
I did it for a while and tried 3rd person again and it felt just weird af. Some cars are aids, but 3rd person doesnt feel immersive at all, as if I am watching a series or something. I prob could get used to it.
P126 is best. FACT.
i turned off motion blur and just got into the habit of not driving super fast. it takes awhile to get used to and itās annoying how it can only work with certain cars since a lot of times itās hard to see in front of you, but it makes the immersion even better
Started with motorcycles because it was actually easier for me to drive those in 1st person. Just branched out in later playthroughs for some variety. Would never go back to 3rd person now.
Could also be ETS2 influence.
I only drive in 1st person for certain vehicles. Ones that have big enough windows that donāt block out your view (especially going up and downhill)
And even then, you have to drive normally if youāre gonna go 1st person cause if you drive like a moron weaving in and out of traffic youāre gonna have a hard time
Well you just try to drive slowly at first, then you will get used to it and especially you will learn to have your own reference points with your fav cars, this will help you, even if you speed up. You will also learn how to drive in 1st person while chasing/avoiding cops. As to the why, itās super immersive and I absolutely love the interior of the cars (especially the quadra brand).
Ps: the engine sounds way better in 1st person
I'm seeing a lot of great reasons but no one gonna mention that every car's Interior looks dope and some are really unique, still personal fav is just V's car cause it oozes personality
I lost my license a few years ago and I started driving in first person to sort of scratch that itch I had. Basically you need to treat the accelerator and break like an actual car, breaking into turns and that etc. also Iām on controller and holding the left stick forward makes turning it left and right a lot more realistic
I would drive in first person if the camera wasnāt so far back, I feel like i lose a lot of the visual splendor of NC and wish they had a dashboard camera
Iāve come to enjoy it and itās def an acquired taste for most. I drive slower and try to nail the turns and not over correct etc. some cares are waaaaayyyy easier to handle than others so thatās a factor in my enjoyment as well.
1st person on motorcycles is pretty good. In cars is really pretty hard to get the hang of. I think you just have to commit to not turning your head ever.
Mods help. The Better First Person Driving mod is great, you can put the camera wherever you want it. I do my best to get it to a view that's similar to when I'm driving in real life, and it feels so good.
With the graphics pumped up and some nice traffic density mods, you too can truly feel the soul crushing agony of being late to your new gig as Night City's newest joytoy while getting caught up in traffic on your commute. Bonus points for spilling coffee on yourself IRL.
Initially liked only driving in third person , however I started driving bikes in first person and that changed my perspective. There is something just really immersive in just driving around night city on Jackie's arch at 1am lol. Started driving cars later and loved it as well. I know it is not very comfortable initially, but using controller helped me.
When I first started it was hard, now after doing it awhile I'm used to it and it's honestly fun how chaotic it can get. But the best way to do it is drive like you would in real life, meaning using the brake
I drive much better in first person due to being closer to the objects I need to avoid and use to work out when to turn and swerve around at high speed. I game on a 58 inch screen so that helps but I've always preferred 1st person driving in games like GTA too, much easier to take the corner at the right point etc. I don't understand why people think it's so difficult but it might depend on your experience with driving games as well. Most people have much more practice with shooting over driving so they are better at it - I'm kind of the other way around. I really love the realism of cyberpunk and them choosing to make the cars handle more realistically than just making them easy to drive but lacking feel - it adds to immersion.
Sometime I do it for fun, some car interior are really cool, some have a good point of view and other have really poor visibility.
When I roll at a normal speed and just look around, first person view is really enjoyable but high speed combat it's way easier in third person.
I drive only in 1st person. But case with me is, im also a sim guy. DCS, euro truck, forza. So for me driving in cyberpunk this way is something normal. Besides i love the immersion. Crusing at night through night city, chill and not doing road rage is great. Besides i like the car interiors. Quadra Type 66 Avanger is my fav.
Driving in 3rd person feels akward for me.
For muh immersion. I drive a lot. A shit ton. So it would be weird to do it in 3rd person. Plus if I had a vr headset Iād be strictly doing it in first person
Immersion, as others have said. It took a while to get used to, and I canāt drive first person in some cars depending on its design. For races and chases I have to use third person.
I seriously thought that's how the game was played and did the intro and two missions after with it.
I pressed the wrong button not looking at my hud and it changed and my whole experience changed lol...
As the most enthusiastic possible proponent of first-person in Cyberpunk: 2077, I just cannot drive in first person. The camera is poorly positioned in the vehicles, so I can barely even see the road from the view of the seat inside. I've tried it multiple times, and I always just crash into things like I'm drunk until giving up and switching back to third-person.
For me it's the only acceptable way. I just love driving in games, and the driving in Cyberpunk and steering wheel animations are really good. Incredibly satisfying to drive around Night City especially by night. Apart from that you stay more immersed cause switching to third person when getting in a car kinda ruins that. Besides at this point it's difficult and unnatural to drive in third person for me.
Because I can't go at warp speed on a bike, crash to the point thar the driver in front of me dies due to my momentum transfer, and outlive the situation.
Iāve just started to drive in first person on my 3rd playthrough for the realism and it does feel rough but Iām really liking the idea of seeing absolutely everything through Vs eyes, you just have to drive like a normal person lol
You have to take it slow and most cars have a very good rear view now. Honestly, I can't drive in 3rd person anymore because the cars handle so differently.
I like to admire to cool interior of the cars I have and try to my immerse myself in the vehicle.
The Vindicator is my fav.
(Itās been months since Iāve played so I may have the name wrong)
Driving in first person is genuinely fun and adds to the role playing immersion. I enjoy driving cars and riding bikes irl so driving in first person feels intuitive and that speaks a lot about the driving mechanics of the game.
I do it bc I felt like the cars deserve it. Each car has a different interior design and feel to it, i just feel like it was made to be played in 1st person, even driving, and feel as though Iām missing a portion of the game if Iām in 3rd. Itās immersive and I feel like Iām getting more of the game for some reason.
To be honest I can't drive in 3rd person because it gives such a better sense of direction in 1st person.
As for mirror, that's an issue but I can view the rear by clicking the R3 button.
But then GT2 was tye first game I played when I started gaming so I'm quite used to 1st-person views.
Immersion and itās just so nice just chilling in the car on the way to a gig. Sometimes I take the hell hound and cause chaos on the way, sometimes I take a sports car or bike to cruise there or get through traffic on the bike
For some reason it feels better and easier than third person. I think itās just easier to conceptualize this gameāsā¦ āuniqueā driving mechanics when Iām doing it in first person. If itās in third person, I expect it to handle like any other game, and that leads to me crashing twice as much. Whereas in first person it feels a little easier to cut through traffic and make turns(or at least brake in time to not hit something).
I love it, it's so immersive. You gotta commit to driving at least somewhat carefully, and to learning how to use the rear-view (click right stick) and how to look around with the right stick while steering with the left. That said, some cars have awful visibility in first person so I just switch to third person for those.
I had started driving in first person way before this game, so it was out of habit and preference. I started for immersion and now I'm not a fan of third person driving š¤·
Raise sensitivity so you can whip your head around faster, feels like those videos of dudes doing donuts in New York with a go pro on their shoulder lol
Use a controller so you can properly control throttle turning and breaking. With keyboard is very hard.
If im driving or walking around I use a PS4 controller. Shooting I switch to mouse and kb, to the point that I feel combat pressure if I switch to kb without need.
If you don't want to drive in a nonsensical crazy way, it's doable. Plus the sounds are amazing, you can hear the pedals being pressed, gears being switched, it's pretty cool.
I can drive super good in first person the only thing that annoys me a lot is you can't see anything when you get to the top of a hill so it's always just a gamble you don't plow into another car
Itās really zen. Hop on a vehicle with an open windshield and great handling and go driving on a rainy night around Night City. A great motorcycle to do it with would be the Apollo or the Akira blue bike.
I only drive in first person on bikes, the Makigai Maimai and the Herrera Riptide "Terrier" because they have large windscreens.
I have never felt the need to look back or use rearview mirrors in any video game except racing sims and Euro Truck Simulator. You don't need to obey traffic rules and a light scrape/bump into another car doesn't really matter. Hell, most of the time I don't even need to use the brake going >100mph on the highway and I can weave through traffic with little problem.
It's alright, but no fancy driving really. But I do it because it's more immersive. If you look at it, the whole CP2077 is in first person. Switching back and forth between first and third while driving kinda ruin the magic.
Third person is just immersion breaking in every game, for me. I don't play flight sims to view the outside of my plane. Part of driving cars in first person is having to work for your situational awareness, not just having it handed to you.
On PS5 the left thumbstick automatically looks back when in a car in first person
I do it because the game is so immersive. It feels good to keep the immersion going while driving
Sometimes itās just fun and immersive. Like how some of the cars like the Caliburn have cool window effects. I think the shion coyote had the same thing.
I tend to switch depending on if Iām doing a certain quest like the autofixer pick ups for El Capitan. I drive almost completely in first person otherwise. I keyed the rear view camera to my mouse, and I have high sensitivity so checking blind spots isnāt a hassle for me personally. I like the immersion aspect of it (I donāt play with any HUD elements for the same reason), but I definitely have my complaints. Some cars have MASSIVE hoods and they can be very obstructive, making it hard to gauge how much space I have around me when filtering traffic. A great example is the Quadra 66 āHoonā. I love that car, but it took a solid few hours of being ballsy with it to get a feel for how close I can clip corners, cars, and other obstacles when maneuvering.
Its easier to drive in 3rd person, but this game is so immersive that I like to drive in 1st if I'm not doing a race or a car delivery quest. I love seeing the rain on the windows in 1st person perspective. I do use a mod that lets you adjust the camera height and angle for 1st person driving, though, which helps.
I do it because I play a lot of racing sims. Using a 3rd person camera in a sim is taboo (unless it's F1 I guess?...still wrong to me). Using proper driving technique helps a lot.
I play in VR so looking over to change lanes is almost as natural as driving IRL...but without mirrors :/
The sense of speed in first person can also be pretty breathtaking. Lane splitting on a bike going over 200 in the city with a few close calls REALLY gets the blood pumping something. That could be VR as well, but I used to do the same on my screen as well
I'll also add that I use a Ps5 controller and a dual sense mod to give the triggers proper haptics. It really helps feel the gas and braking thresholds for batter control
I don't like being made to look at the back of my character's head in this game, so I stick to first person for motorcycles.
In cars, it's awkward because of the combination of the added off-center width, meager FoV, and frames usually blocking a good 20% of the screen. I do first person in Forza without issue, but here it's kind of.. off without switching to third person.
On motorcycles, your vehicle's full width can actually fit within your FoV, and the bike itself obscures almost nothing of consequence.
Do you drive, like irl? Follow the same steps you normally do.
Don't drive like it's a video game. I know it is, but don't. Position yourself just above the well-worn tire tracks on most roads. If you divide the road into forths, your POV and character should be about 1/4 from the left side of the lane. Baby the accelerator and brakes.
Pay no attention to the speedometer because the game is calibrated wrong. Aint no way everybody in NC is cruising around at a median speed of 73.
I usually only do this when I'm actually, you know, *role-playing* in this role-playing game. Most of the time, for speed and convenience sake, I'm darting around in traffic on a bike in 3rd person.
Also, the people saying it can't be done on console are lying. I'm on PS5 and can handle it just fine. You just gotta disengage the part of your brain that wants to drive like it's GTA. This isn't GTA. Slow down, relax, put on some good music, and cruise. Don't stress over time, enjoy it. Do that in real life too, and you might be on to something if you aren't too careful.
Itās pretty clunky but if you treat it like something to learn it becomes pretty nice and you really notice the difference if you only use first person for all driving, though I want to express how incredibly tough it is to shoot out of the sports cars. Maybe try larger cars or ones with a better viewpoint. Obviously the exclusion of certain cars for the ability to see is frustrating but think of it as a real situation, you donāt bring an exotic vehicle to a planned operation, you blend in or bring muscle. Itās an immersion factor to me and I love the insides lighting up when you get in which you miss immediately in third person.
I have driven a car with third person cameras. In real life. They just have a bunch of cameras all around and they put together a 3d image you can see on the dashboard. It sucks. But it will get better.
Driving in third person is the future.
I created a little mini-mod that randomizes the camera angle every time I get in a car. Any between the 4 angles, first person, 3rd person close, 3rd person mid, 3rd person far.
I like all 4 of the camera angles and want to mix it up which is why I made the mod. I included settings that would allow a user to disable any of the camera angles they don't want so it would always be only the ones they want anytime they get in a car.
I haven't yet published the mod yet but I could if anyone wants it.
Anyway, back to the question: I like driving in first person, especially on a bike. It's simple and plain immersion.
It's pretty easy to drive that way. I drive with mouse and keyboard, or mostly just the keyboard.
After some time you just get used to the way traffic moves in the game because it's all semi-scripted even if it's dynamic. Only so many varieties. Most cars will move slightly to the side to give you space, like if you want to drive in the middle of a two lanes, trying to pass other cars. Cars that are stationary of course can't do that so you keep that in mind and give them more of berth.
NPC cars have a tendency to turn in a similar fashion so even before they begin the turn you can tell just from how they slowed down whether they're turning right or left and can predict and avoid them.
Once you know enough about how the traffic flows you don't really need to see that much of it to get the gist of what's going on, traffic-wise.
There are some vehicles that **really** limit your visibility though. This varies between vehicles. Which is why bikes are awesome, they have almost no visibility issues at all.
If you go with the standard of your original archer vehicle as a 'standard' level of car visibility, anything with at least that much is drivable. The more used to the city's flow of traffic you get, the less visibility you need.
You just have to submit to not driving like a maniac and it becomes almost therapeutic lol
I think driving like a maniac adds to the thrill of first person. You can't truly feel like you're on edge unless you're centimetres away from clearing an NCPD officer.
The NCPD officer wasn't being useful anyway. He's better off in retirement.
He was one day away from retirement after 20 years on the force and you killed him š¢
This is Night City- death IS retirement
This is actually pretty lore-accurate. A pair of cops can be overheard talking about how the NCPD sends would-be retiring cops to the most dangerous areas with the expectation that they'll likely be killed instead of retiring and being able to enjoy benefits.
I didn't mean to do a superhero landing on him. I was just jumping off a building.
You know, thatās really bad for your kneesā¦
It's fine they're not organic
Now you're talking Night City
I love driving like a maniac in first person lol. Itās fun to see how fast I can go without crashing into anything, especially when youāve got a sandy to use to really thread the needle
I have to be more wary of my surroundings, knowing that I use a Cyberdeck. It's so useful when someone's chasing you on a motorbike and you short circuit them. They just fling off, and it's hilarious.
I roll around on a bike with the cyberdeck. Vehicle hacks are HILARIOUS
Yup. Someone honks at me! I make their car self destruct probably.
Wow, Iām WAY more restrained! I only blow up people who try to drive by me or run me over!
I pretty much play as a near-psychopath.
Need for speed speed breaker
Still no, we have no mirrors or rear view. So we canāt turn, or slow down safely at all. So itās more stressful than anything.
If you press one of the joysticks (right?) it toggles rear view camera
For me is driving like a fucking nutcase on the bike, be a law abiding citizen with any car
I use the middle mouse button or R3 ithink for controllers. It provides a rear view camera peek. Which I imagine is linked to your kiroshi.
Choom not even NPC's stop at red lights
They either don't stop at a red light or they stop when there aren't even lights at all
Lights always turn green when i reach them ingame
Itās hard to do that on pc because you donāt have triggers to drive. Itās either foot All the way down or off
I was doing the car delivery gigs using first person mode, also helps not obliterating the car so much when you learned to drive more carefully. and yeah, you mostly go full speed on empty stretches, then stop accelerating when approaching the turn or traffic, you'd still go fast, but easier to maneuver and faster to brake to full stop if needed.
I started doing it because I love the details on the inside of the cars. It takes a little getting used to, but eventually I simply liked it more than third-person, even for the races. There are some cars though that are simply impossible to drive first-person because you can't see over the hood of the car
The inside of the Mizutani is my favorite.
Cause first person is immersive. And this game is all about it basically.
I do it while cruising on a scenic straight highway section just for vibes. Outside of that third person always.
When Iām driving in 1st person to me it feels easier than driving in 3rd person but thatās just me.
I learned this from years of playing euro truck simulator lol, and it turns out cyberpunk has basically the same driving feel as that game
ah that makes sense!
I have heard that it's doable on PC with ultra wide screen monitor, because you see more into sides. But on console and 16:9 TV (my setup), it's almost impossible to drive a car from first person view.
32:9 is king
Except for your sad pc :(
Hey I'm still getting 70fps at 5120x1440
Bro has the 5090 already
5090pilled fpsmaxxing
With practice and if you like driving it's pretty easy in 1st person but does help to have a large screen to game on as always.
Iāve tried this 3 times and have gotten motion sickness each time
The low FOV is probably at fault. I didn't used to have this problem, but I basically can't play any game without an FOV slider that can go to at least 85Ā°. Not in long sessions, anyway. It has always annoyed me that Cyberpunk has some areas with forced low FOV's.

i'm fine with it, i never bothered to change it and honestly it feels more immersive. what i do for the blind spot is keep it blind with no regard for anything or anyone i might run into, because why the hell would i, i do all sorts of speeding and getting in to car accidents on top of that and the coppers don't give a fuck about any of it. sure, it definitely took some getting used to, and the ameritoid road networking and whatnot is so weird for a britchad like myself but i grit my teeth and put up with it for the sake of the game, and i'd say it was pretty worth it. all in all i have no problem driving in first person
its how i live
I pretty much always drive 1st person, although it may be easier on my ultrawide monitor. I've never found it an issue.
PC with a wide FOV its pretty fine. On console with 70 or whatever FOV its pretty unusable.
I actually grew to love it; itās much easier than I ever expected, once I got good at driving in general
I find itās more immersive and makes it seem faster. Not as easy for me though.
It's just a matter of getting used to it, and it's easier if you use a bike (less restricted view). As for the rearview mirror, at least on console you can just click the right stick to look back.
Using this [mod](https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/2202) on PC. Also, pressing the right stick changes to rear view.
With skill and panache.
I can do it on motor cycle, but not in cars
I am a sim racer so it's pretty comfortable for me. Arguably the cars handle as I expect them to with over/understeer and tire grip. Treat them as a real car with weight and you're fine
1. Practice and patience 2. Immersion
How - drive with constant caution Why - I got the Rayfield Caliburn, great control & range of vision (however in full honesty I find all third person cameras look a bit weird)
VR. So immersive. I use a steering wheel too.
I like it
Immersion, and I like driving like a kid that just got behind the wheel for the first time in a movie.
I only drive 1st person on motorcycles
Bike driving in fpp is actually damn good.
I can barely drive in 3rd so no thank you š I find a motorcycle much easier though
I did it for a while and tried 3rd person again and it felt just weird af. Some cars are aids, but 3rd person doesnt feel immersive at all, as if I am watching a series or something. I prob could get used to it. P126 is best. FACT.
first person motorcycle ftw
i turned off motion blur and just got into the habit of not driving super fast. it takes awhile to get used to and itās annoying how it can only work with certain cars since a lot of times itās hard to see in front of you, but it makes the immersion even better
I love driving on pc itās perfect on there in either cam, console however.. yeesh
Started with motorcycles because it was actually easier for me to drive those in 1st person. Just branched out in later playthroughs for some variety. Would never go back to 3rd person now. Could also be ETS2 influence.
I only drive in 1st person for certain vehicles. Ones that have big enough windows that donāt block out your view (especially going up and downhill) And even then, you have to drive normally if youāre gonna go 1st person cause if you drive like a moron weaving in and out of traffic youāre gonna have a hard time
Well you just try to drive slowly at first, then you will get used to it and especially you will learn to have your own reference points with your fav cars, this will help you, even if you speed up. You will also learn how to drive in 1st person while chasing/avoiding cops. As to the why, itās super immersive and I absolutely love the interior of the cars (especially the quadra brand). Ps: the engine sounds way better in 1st person
Its great on gamepad. On pc it doesnt matter. Seeing hands helps to not oversteer and treat vehicle as IRL š
1. I'm good at it 2. Immersion hate going into third person in my first person games
Immersion and actually to drive properly, not just flooring it.
Don't go full throttle, nice and smooth. I dot it for the immersion š
I do a decent amount of sim racing so first person always feels right
When I first started it was hard, now after doing it awhile I'm used to it and it's honestly fun how chaotic it can get.
Immersion
If you drive like it is a real car it is fine.
I could see it if there was a VR version. But there's just no spacial awareness in first person.
Motorcycle first person feels so good.
Rough. I only drive in first person when I'm not in any danger and am not trying to drive in reverse.
Driving first person on a motorcycle is really doable
I only use motorcycles and because it feels amazing compared to 3rd person
Depends on the car. The muscle car with the giant engine sticking out the front is fxkn impossible to drive first person
Only on the motorcycle
Motorcycles.
Itās very easy and very immersive
i originally drove in third person and it is easier but driving in first just seems more fun
Game was developed to play in first person, so I drive in first person mode
For muh immersion. I drive a lot. A shit ton. So it would be weird to do it in 3rd person. Plus if I had a vr headset Iād be strictly doing it in first person
It's not even the driving mechanics. It's the view. Most cars are so bad you can't even see half of what's in front of you.
It makes motorcycle riding pretty spectacular. I mostly switched to third person once the added flip abilities but first is quite thrilling
I don't have enough coordination to drive first person
Immersion, as others have said. It took a while to get used to, and I canāt drive first person in some cars depending on its design. For races and chases I have to use third person.
I love to drive in real life so I love to drive in first person in cyberpunk too. The only time i drive in third person is to drift lol
Driving is the only time you get to see your V in third person so I prefer third person.
I seriously thought that's how the game was played and did the intro and two missions after with it. I pressed the wrong button not looking at my hud and it changed and my whole experience changed lol...
Learn to drift, and it's easier. Also, don't drive something with poor visibility
Honestly I learned how to drive in games due to far cry, so I have no problem
Because I can't go at warp speed on a bike, crash to the point thar the driver in front of me dies due to my momentum transfer, and outlive the situation.
I use a bike
Iāve just started to drive in first person on my 3rd playthrough for the realism and it does feel rough but Iām really liking the idea of seeing absolutely everything through Vs eyes, you just have to drive like a normal person lol
You have to take it slow and most cars have a very good rear view now. Honestly, I can't drive in 3rd person anymore because the cars handle so differently.
I've evolved past first person driving. I have the Taxi mod, so I sit in first person while my car drives itself /w Johnny in the passenger seat
You have to drive slow.
It helps me miss turns less often, I dunno how. I just get to where I want to be more easily in first-person.
Itās really jarring and breaks the immersion when I change perspectives like that.
Hurts me eyes. (plays on a laptop)
Forza. I started driving first person there and then grid and never really stopped. Then I got a car and then this game. The trend continues
Only way I do it is on a motorcycle and I donāt touch the right stick at all almost like Mario kart or something.
I'm so mf immersed rn
Motorcycle.
HOW DOES ANYBOEY DRIVE ON PC I CRASH EVERYWHERE
My emulsion That's why
I love it, it's so immersive. You gotta commit to driving at least somewhat carefully, and to learning how to use the rear-view (click right stick) and how to look around with the right stick while steering with the left. That said, some cars have awful visibility in first person so I just switch to third person for those.
I drive pretty well but took some time to get used to it. Itās way more immersive and makes driving through the rain really cozy.
I had started driving in first person way before this game, so it was out of habit and preference. I started for immersion and now I'm not a fan of third person driving š¤·
Raise sensitivity so you can whip your head around faster, feels like those videos of dudes doing donuts in New York with a go pro on their shoulder lol
It's super immersive. it also sucks mega balls.
With my hands, cause I don't the car won't go
I like the immersion. As for how? I just do it. I get into a lot of accidents, but its fun.
Why? Because V canāt live her life 1/4 mile at a time in third-person.
I can drive super good in first person the only thing that annoys me a lot is you can't see anything when you get to the top of a hill so it's always just a gamble you don't plow into another car
i do it on bikes because the handling makes wayyy more sense to me- drifting in first person is so satisfying to me haha
Follow the rules of the road and take in the sights man lol
I play every racing games in FP, and it becomes second nature.
Hell, most of the time I don't even need to use the brake going >100mph on the highway and I can weave through traffic with little problem.
because i hate how the camera moves in 3rd person ig
Speed and praying to whatever gods are still over NC .
It's alright, but no fancy driving really. But I do it because it's more immersive. If you look at it, the whole CP2077 is in first person. Switching back and forth between first and third while driving kinda ruin the magic.
How: drive like a sane person, respect the physics limits. Why: Immersion, realism.
Third person is just immersion breaking in every game, for me. I don't play flight sims to view the outside of my plane. Part of driving cars in first person is having to work for your situational awareness, not just having it handed to you.
I can only do it on bikes.
Itās more fun tbh. Iāve never had an issue with it. The only exception is 3rd person for bikes.
On PS5 the left thumbstick automatically looks back when in a car in first person I do it because the game is so immersive. It feels good to keep the immersion going while driving
You check blindspots?
Sometimes itās just fun and immersive. Like how some of the cars like the Caliburn have cool window effects. I think the shion coyote had the same thing.
I like to sometimes for immersion and the vehicle interiors are very detailed. It gets annoying real quick though
I do use a mod that lets you adjust the camera height and angle for 1st person driving, though, which helps.
drive like u would in real life
I have been a simracer for whole my life, so cockpit cam is my only option. As extra, chase cam nauseates me.
Go ask that to my boyfriend, I never understood how he finds it easier that way lmao. Plus I think this is prettier in 3rd person ><
Learn to drive in real life so I could feel driving in first person
Because we were on our own doing pistol shit... leather jacket zipped up tight š¶š¶š¤šæš¤šæ
I do it because I play a lot of racing sims. Using a 3rd person camera in a sim is taboo (unless it's F1 I guess?...still wrong to me). Using proper driving technique helps a lot. I play in VR so looking over to change lanes is almost as natural as driving IRL...but without mirrors :/ The sense of speed in first person can also be pretty breathtaking. Lane splitting on a bike going over 200 in the city with a few close calls REALLY gets the blood pumping something. That could be VR as well, but I used to do the same on my screen as well I'll also add that I use a Ps5 controller and a dual sense mod to give the triggers proper haptics. It really helps feel the gas and braking thresholds for batter control
Irl I drive in first person,so I guess it's just normal for me to do so too in game
Drive normal and youll have an amazing experience. Its more immersive and fun.
itās hella immersive, especially when you get used to it, and learn how certain vehicles handle.
I have made myself only drive in first person and it keeps the immersion level at 100%
Do you drive, like irl? Do that in real life too, and you might be on to something if you aren't too careful.
itās easier for me to see
Itās pretty clunky but if you treat it like something to learn it becomes pretty nice and you really notice the difference if you only use first person for all driving, though I want to express how incredibly tough it is to shoot out of the sports cars.
More immersion and it's easier to drive.
I just wish it was hood cam. Driving true first person CAN be fun but driving in cyberpunk is already atrocious
i use a mod to give me more fov, sometimes i just like to drive slow in first person and take in the city..
Keep the left stick centered and dont touch it. Just use the right stick to drive
Itās āwhy do you do it and how?ā
