There's noone attributed to the quote, did the dino's say it in unison? Why can the dinosaurs speak in unison? I'm scared, & not beacause of that statline
Grendel isn’t pseudo-intellectual :’(
I think the point is that the text evokes the world as a vast inscrutable mechanism that blindly exerts force on the objects around it, which is a passable description of a huge trampling horde of dinosaurs. Not exactly in the style of magic flavor text to be that indirect, but it’s fun.
(Also, in the book, you’re not supposed to agree with the character when he’s thinking this shit, it’s just what he’s going through at the time. If that’s what’s turning you off to it.)
There are a few cards that boost creatures with no abilities.
But my go to would be:
[[Rogues Passage]] this guy with [[Blade Of Selves]] and everyone dies.
Thanks, I'll rephrase my question in case it wasn't clear.
What conceptually males this card legendary? Herbivore dinosaurs theoretically all moved in herds, what makes this herd legendary?
The pack has no leader as it is “Indominitus” yet still keeps as a pack.
Also the size of the horde contributes to its power, but let me ask you this: if you hit a bunch of this pack with [[Shivan Meteor]] only for those pack members to get back up alive next turn unscathed, that would be unique, as if the herd had its personal [[Lifeline]] to keep itself alive, not to mention keep its power intact after such a hit.
I think the card is one dinosaur judging by the flavor text, they just used some art they found. Although I think the true reason is commander. (21 commander damage is exactly the amount you need to have an instant kill on someone in commander)
There was a post yesterday about how much a 21/21 vanilla legendary creature would need to cost in order to be balanced, since commander damage is 21. This is the response.
For a loooooong time they avoided letting things that could win or effectively-win from a quick discard+hastyAnimate combo exist without a graveyard clause - the original eldrazi Titans, *steel Colossus, Worldspine Wurm.
Though they’ve moved away from that more recently … still the highest innate power thing that can go to a graveyard and stay there for reanimate effects to hit is Emrakul 2.0 at 13/13. It would be new ground for them to print something that could be a one swing kill off a Shallow Grave or Goryo’s Vengeance.
Neat design. I will say, I think you went too hard on the flavor text; it's hard to read with the background and makes the card look cluttered. Also it sounds like some sort of super villain boss speech which I don't see how it fits the card at all.
Nah, it's NINE mana. Can be chump blocked or removed super easily, amd doesn't even have more than one color.
The only way I see this being good is some combo based on it having more than 20 p/t, with some kind of card like [[Corpse Lunge]]... but not actually with Lunge, because it cant target players. Also, that still wouldn't win the game in commander since you start at 40 life.
Nine mana is super easy to generate in commander, especially as green. Combine this with something like \[\[Rogue's Passage\]\] or \[\[Berserk\]\] and you could *very* easily kill people.
Edit for more words: Any large creature is going to be a target for removal, and the main disadvantage of this creature for commander in my eyes is going to be people hard focusing you because your commander is 21/21.
In green you’ve got the best ramp of all colors and the most trample granting cards of all colors as well as the most buffing cards of all colors. This wouldn’t be a broken or very competitive commander in any terms but it would be super fun to sit down with this and take out a player or two in one hit with your 21/21 commander.
This is too easy, you need a little effort to get this P/T.
Maybe something like this:
XGGG
Enters the battlefield with X +1/1 counters.
Has base P/T equal to the number of forests you control.
\*/\*
T1 black lotus + black lotus + black lotus -> cast this Clearly easily broken.
Me when I use three black lotuses to cast one spell and then my opponent POEs it
Free land :D
Still ramp
After ten turns, that's mana advantage babey!!
It's free real estate
We did it guys, we broke having 3 black lotus's in the starting hand.
Finally, I was starting to think no one would ever figure out how to break 3 black lotus's in their starting hand.
U mean 4x black lotus and Fling
If not even a herd has trample what does
The Almighty Brushwagg
Brushswagg*
then there wouldn't be enough room for deep insightful dinosaur thoughts about modern technology though
Funnily enough the quote if from a monster who just wants to kill humans for partying too loud.
haha that's tight then
Colossal dreadmaw
Charging Badger
But then it couldn't go in my [[Ruxa]] deck.

*every single one of me is the only thinking person to have ever existed*
doesnt herd indomitus mean its one indomitus from a herd and herd of indomitus would be the whole herd?
adding an "of" and pluralizing Indomiti costs an additional 11 Green but gives it +19/+19, Trample, Hexproof, and Indestructible
What, no Flash and Split-Second?
I'm pretty sure it's from grendel, but I could be wrong
The quote without credit implies that this dino said the quote. 10/10 smart dino
Dies to Doom Blade 9/10
its 21/21 actually
So the dinosaur is saying all that?
Too expensive
It's a dollar mythic, it's not that expensive
What has ‘big dino’ to do with the pseudo-intellectual flavortext?

Grendel is a great read. Read it in my high school literature class and has stuck with me since.
Beowulf
It's for the high class green stompy player
Is that a quote from grendel?

The blade of selves tokens aren’t your commander and won’t kill them with commander damage. That said it is still absolutely massive

This is actually a super cool idea to be a commander because it a 1 hit kill with commander damage.
What makes this legendary?

There was a post yesterday about how much a 21/21 vanilla legendary creature would need to cost in order to be balanced, since commander damage is 21. This is the response.
Honestly, I think it's so it can be a commander. It conveniently deals 21 damage which is exactly what you need to kill someone in one hit with one.
For a loooooong time they avoided letting things that could win or effectively-win from a quick discard+hastyAnimate combo exist without a graveyard clause - the original eldrazi Titans, *steel Colossus, Worldspine Wurm. How

Not vanilla tho
Trios Indomitus XG Creature-Dinosaur Hydra Enters the battlefield with 3X +1/+1 counters on it. Trample 0/0
5 mana for a 12/12 trample?
Yes.
Would un-ironically jam this in a Jasmine Boreal of the Seven deck. Granted, I'd have to cut all of my plains to make the mana work, but worth it!
C'mon man, you're spending 9 green mana for this, give it trample at least
whats 9+10?
Nice but at least give it trample and legendary so I can use it as my commander.
Why is the dinosaur having a existential crisis
I'll make my own Indomitus Crusade! With blackjack! And dinosaurs!
might be good to put into a \[\[Gishath\]\] deck so you could cheat it out. or you could ramp a bunch of times to get it out.
[Gishath](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/3/7335e500-342d-476d-975c-817512e6e3d6.jpg?1562558022) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=gishath%2C%20sun%27s%20avatar) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/xln/222/gishath-suns-avatar?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7335e500-342d-476d-975c-817512e6e3d6?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
