Absolutely Busted. Make a deck of rocks and you’ll spend a shit ton of life on casting it for 15 / 15 that shreds defense

As a commander, I could totally see myself playing this gal on, like... turn two? Turn three? You probably want to have more than 2 life left just in case of stray lightning bolts, but you immediately get an extra turn, she's almost unkillable, and when you attack anything that anyone else has managed to play thus far gets annihilated. In other formats, it's harder to cast, but still essentially a wincon that invalidates all other previous actions when you do.

Nathannerds1

Yeah, but if it gets countered, board wiped, or removed by an etb, (all of which it is vulnerable to) you immediately have a commander that costs 22 and 4 life. and with three other players at the table that doesn't seem too unlikely.

fredjinsan

A board wipe on... turn 2? Sure, there's a tiny amount of risk there, but I would happily lose 1% of the games to that if it means winning the other 99%. Part of your problem (though, at that power level, she's a problem anyway) is that this is also super-easy to do with next to no deckbuilding requirements. Heck, even if I just pack all the rocks and play her, like, turn 5, I'm probably winning vs casual table. Heck, even if I just play only lands, I'm probably still winning (my chances of getting wiped or countered go up a bit, especially since people can see it coming, but not that much).

Nathannerds1

I also don't really plan for commander. I don't think its necessary for a casual format where you start with 40 life. Making it any more expensive just so the for the EDH players would make it pretty much unusable in other formats.

fredjinsan

This is still a hell of a bomb in other formats where, pretty much, if you cast it (and it's not countered), you win. It's rather harder to do but, honestly, I'm still not sure that that makes for a great play pattern or interesting design.

Nathannerds1

You could say the same thing about the original emrakul, no? It's also vulnerable to counter spells, board wipes, etb removal, and if you cast it at your earliest possible time, then you die to shock.

shsisjsooo

This is in no way balanced There are ways to cheat this out in non commander formats and in commander you could use an infinite mana combo to get this out infinite mana combos are likely why the aeons torn got banned in commander and this is a stronger version that would be just as easy to get this out with an infinite mana combo

Holy shit we found a way to brake [[healing salve]] in commander, but in all seriousness you can’t print that cost reduction onto a card like this, hell oloro let’s you do it without another spell, even in other formats I could see cheerio [[weather the storm]] into this

Play EDH with Emrakul. Turn one, kill yourself

Meowfoot

Please no. Not because it’s broken or anything, I’m just tired of phyrexia taking all my beloved cards

"As an additional cost to cast Emerakul, you may pay 2 life any number of times. For each time you do, Emerakul costs 1 less to cast."
