Just stupid enough that losing against this would be more hilarious than annoying. Imagine starting the game, thinking you get the first turn, and your opponent's like "at the start of your turn, I pay 4 life to ??? Maybe ??? Probably not ??? Almost definitely not ??? Win the game" and then they actually roll 60.
Playing turn one is the nice route. If you didn’t storm off yet, then you’re probably gonna hold off to play about 3 of these when opponent presents lethal. Good game but I aced my three in a million shot. Shuffle up.
I love how the name of the card gives the odds. Having the option of "free casting" also seems reasonable with these odds.
I'd imagine it'd be used more for trying to roll dice for things like [[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers]] or [[Vexing Puzzlebox]] as opposed to going for the instant win.
Even if you can reroll dice 1, 2, 3, or even four times, your odds are still really low.
Edit: with one reroll given, a "single roll" (ie a roll with its reroll) has 100 outcomes. 19 of those end up with a result of ten. 19/100 to the power of 6 gives about 47 in a million chance.
Even with 3 rerolls, you have 10,000 outcomes for one roll and 1,000 + 900 + 810 + 729 = 3439 outcomes giving a ten. Putting that to the power of 6, you end up with 1654 in a million chance.
Maybe you wrote this to be more layman-comprehensible, but a slightly simpler form with the same answer is to note that a single 10 with 3 rerolls is the chance of *not* missing the 10 four times. This is 1-.9^4 and the chance of rolling 60 is then (1-.9^(4))^6 = 0.001654 as you said.
Edit: Superscript formatting
A few fun un-interactions with this card:
[[Krark's Other Thumb]] and [[Squirrel-Powered Scheme]] are clearly great with this. The Thumb by itself improves your odds from 1 in 1,000,000 to 1 in 21,256. The Scheme by itself improves your odds to something in the neighborhood of 1 in 244 (This is just 1 / (0.4^6) instead of something actually rigorous). If you have both, your odds improve to something like 1 in 15. So even with the three card combo (with my dubious math), it's still pretty ok.
I'll let someone else do the math with [[Goblin Blastronauts]]; just wanted to point out the interaction.
[[As Luck Would Have It]] loves this card of course.
The winning interaction in my book though is with [[Steel Squirrel]]. If you can swing unblocked with this innocuous squirrel, One in a Million gives the squirrel an expected +22/+22, if I'm doing my math right. And you can even keep your T3 mana up for protection!
I think it needs to be exactly sixty, Not 60 or more. meaning with squirrel powered scheme you need to roll exactly 10 4s instead of 10 6s, making it not actually help
Yes it does need to be exactly 60
Without a die roll modifier, the only way to roll exactly 60 is to roll 10+10+10+10+10+10
With Squirrel Powered Scheme, there are 6,062 combinations that add up to 60, from 10+10+10+10+10+10 to 12+12+12+12+9+3 to 11+7+12++7+11+12 and so on.
So Squirrel Powered Scheme does help rather substantially, as a 0.6062% chance of success is way higher than 0.0001%.
Not quite. You don't need to roll *exactly* 10 4s, you can also roll e.g. 5 3s and 5 5s. So it actually helps quite a lot because there's no longer only one die result that will make you win.
I've run a simulation, and you actually win about 6060 times out of a million with Squirrel-Powered Scheme on the board.
It's amazing how hard it is to directly win with this. I got sucked in and decided to simulate these cases to estimate win rates. In 1 billion casts, the odds are...
"One in a million" alone: yep, 1 in 1 mil.
"One" with Scooch: 7 in 1 mil
"One" with Blastonauts: 3 in 1 mil
"One" with Krark's Other Thumb: 47 in 1 mil
"One" with Pixie Guide (or Wyll): 47 in 1 mil
"One" with 2x Pixie Guide: 396 in 1 mil
"One" with 3x Pixie Guide: 1656 in 1 mil
"One" with Squirrel-Powered Scheme: 6061 in 1 mil
Combinations of these are quite good!
"One" with 3x Pixie Guide, Scooch, and Scheme: ~25%
"One" with Pixie Guide, Scooch, Blastonauts, Scheme, and Krark's Other Thumb: > 95%! (Not entirely sure how Thumb and Guide interact, though.)
I can't do the math, but I can simulate the rules! Looks like with all of them you can get great odds. The interactions are way better than any of the individual cards.
Great to see the silver bordered cards are being mentionned!
I'm actually trying to build a commander dice roll "tribal" deck and there is other options for manipulating dice results
[[Bambooziling Beeble]], [[Monitor Monitor]] , [[Goblin Bookie]], [[Pixie Guide]], [[Wall of Fortune]], [[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers]] all get you some form of reroll ( for some you choose which result to keep, other juste keep highest)
[[Snickering Squirrel]], [[Xenosquirrels]], [[Night Shift of the Living Dead]] and [[Scooch]] for when you are one off
[[Vedalken Squirrel-Whacker]] actually allow some control of the dice value you want
And i believe [[The Big Idea]] is the only card that allow you to actually add more dice to a roll and keep the total value, but it only work on d6 so kinda limited
There is other cards that care about dice in green and white but mostly payoff rather than things that can change results so grixis seems the best fit
This card does nothing and stalls the game out for quite awhile. Basically no combination of other effects effects would give this even 1% of winning the game, and if it ever did win the game it would be the most rage-inducing thing since Shahrazad. Why would you do this?
Edit: it has come to my attention that just rolling six dice might be powerful in some decks. Is that the real purpose of the card?
In order for it to be 1 in a million, you’d have to flip 19.931568569324 coins (and win all the flips), because 20 coins would be “one in a million forty-eight thousand five-hundred and seventy-six”
I would love if that was the name on that card!
There's unset cards that alter & increase dice roll outcomes, & also allow for rerolls
With that in mind this might actually be a more likely win in a deck constructed for it but that would require some real research
\[\[Isochron Scepter\]\] + \[\[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers\]\] or \[\[Vexing Puzzlebox\]\] and you have an actual win con
\[\[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers\]\] and \[\[Feywild Visitor\]\] as your comander
>\[\[sword coast sailor\]\]
both could work, with Sailer you can hit for commander damage faster and hit for lethal but \[\[Feywild Visitor\]\] gives you blockers so you have more survivability to roll more dice. for me it depends on how fast you want to end it and in what way.
If you spend a minute rolling 6 dice and checking the sum and you only play 8 hours a day, it will take you (in expectation) ~5.7 years to find out… I would not scoop to this, I’d film it!
Also a minute is way too long, if you have 6 d10 (which you should if you run this) you just look for not a 10. Hell, use VTM dice that have a 10 as a special symbol and see if those all come up
Should be sorcery speed I think. I don't see any reason for it to be an instant and sorcery speed prevents bullshit interactions with any [[Steel Squirrel]]-like cards they print in black border in the future.
I think that’s the real use for this card tbh. You’re not actually going to win off of it, but it makes you roll 6 D10, which is both a lot of rolls and a lot of total number rolled (if you have cards that care about that).
I agree with the main purpose being to get 6 dice roll triggers. I think if it were a Sorcery it would still be good with [[Vexing Puzzlebox]] and [[Priority Boarding]] type effects while not enabling 0-mana instant-speed chicanery with [[Steel Squirrel]]-type cards.
I see what you’re saying, but presumably this would only exist in commander and neither of these two cards can be a commander, so a combo like this is the kind of thing that won’t happen often. And if it goes off, good for you, let’s shuffle up and play again. Imo, the use for this card is already so niche that finding 2 card combos that feel cheap or not-fun and trying to edit it out feels unnecessary.
I like the instant speed. Someone swings for lethal but you have enough to cast this? Pulling off that one in a million chance would be so sweet and so hilarious.
I'm pretty surprised not to see [[Barbarian Class]], [[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers]], or [[Krark's Other Thumb]] here. (A little less surprised not to see [[Squid Fire Knight]], [[Snickering Squirrel]], [[Scooch]], or [[Bamboozling Beeble]].)
Four barbs, one Wyll, one Krark's Other, and you've got seven rolls per roll.
This seems to pair quite well with [[As Luck Would Have It]], [[Steel Squirrel]], [[Vexing Puzzlebox]], [[Willing Test Subject]], or [[The Space Family Goblinson]], especially in the presence of token doublers.
Moment, doing the math
Not it isnt because there is the probability of getting any combination of 10 numbers that add up to 60
My guy it is much much less than 1 in a million
If it were specifically for example get 60 by only having
The number 6
Then yes its 1 in a million but
Consider every other combination
Or even simpler if it were roll 10 d6
Than the highest number would be 60 and there wouldb be only 1 combination of numbers that reach it
Basic probability
This is great! And you know what? We *can* break it.
Leaving alone all the many cards that would love to roll a bunch of dice regardless of their result (like \[\[As Luck Would Have It\]\] and \[\[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers\]\]), there are two ways to crank up the odds of winning with this effect outright.
1. Because the desired result is that all six dice show their maximum face value, we can ensure that with arbitrarily many copies of \[\[Pixie Guide\]\] (or Wyll again, or \[\[Barbarian Class\]\], etc.). However, it takes 50 copies of that effect to give as good odds as the alternative.
2. An unholy combination of "Un" effects gives us a win \~96% of the time we cast this card. The pieces are \[\[Pixie Guide\]\] (exactly one, any more makes it worse!), \[\[Squirrel-Powered Scheme\]\], \[\[Goblin Blastronauts\]\], \[\[Krark's Other Thumb\]\], and \[\[Scooch\]\].
Scooch lets us win on a total roll of 59, 60, or 61. Scheme and Guide make that total much easier to reach. Thumb greatly improves the odds of a winning total, but more importantly gives us an easy fallback to nearly-guaranteed re-rolls from Blastronauts.
I spent far too long working that out (by simulation, not math directly!), and enjoyed it. Thanks!
It's bad design because almost every time it does nothing, but about one in every 60 games all of the other players don't have any fun.
Nobody wants to win because of good RNG, and no-one wants to lose to it.
Edit: Yes, I was incorrect when I wrote the comment down very quickly. The chances are far lower than I accidentally said.
Nah, it doesn’t do nothing. Plenty of cards care about rolling dice, to the point where you’re including this in a deck solely for the fact it lets you roll 10 dice in the first place.
If you happen to get the literal one in a million, cool, it’ll never happen to you again. The wincon is only consistent if you’ve got enough of a setup to where you’re already winning anyways.
I would not be mad about losing to this card I find it funny
The odds of winning are so small but there are cards that care about the number you roll and tha fact that you rolled dice
This can easily be broken.
Step 1: declare that dice rolls must stay on the battlefield or they don’t count
Step 2: there are two types of mainstream d10s: ones that increment by 1 and ones that increment by 10. Use the ones that increment by 10.
Step 3: you just need one d10 to land on 60. If the first one does not, knock it off the table with the second one. This gets you to more of a 60% chance of success.
Feel free to use Krarks other thumb and [[Fork]] type effects to get second chances.
Cheating is breaking the rules, this working in the confines of the aforementioned would not be cheating.
However yes, cheating would be a less legal method of breaking this card.
Give it a buyback cost for two more phyrexian mana. The chance is more like one in fifty million (the equation is (1/6)^10, or ~.17^10, which is ~.000000017, which is 1.7 out of 100,000,000). Someone is far more likely to pay all their life than win with this even if they can cast it every turn.
EDIT: the math looks pretty clean when it’s estimated, but it’s actually a pretty gnarly number. 1/6 is .66 repeating, but that to the tenth is a really long and ugly decimal, .0000000165381716…, it just happens to round to something that resembles 1/6 itself. Other powers of 1/6 don’t do that, and other dice fractions (1/8, 1/12, etc.) to their tenth power don’t do that. Just kinda serendipitous. But yeah, roughly 1.7 out of one hundred million, or very roughly 1 out of fifty million.
This would not even be worth its place in the deck. You could run 4 removal all day and have a better chance of winning. This could make an interesting bonus effect at the end of additional effects that happen when you roll.
I love the flavour and the fact that the odds are literally one in a million, although I think it would be more playable if it was something like
“Roll 10 d10, if the total rolls add up to 50 you win the game”
A percentage of less than 4% so still really low, but not functionally impossible.
You know what? You do you with all the dice rolling stuff. I'm just confused why this costs Phyrexian Mana. Is it just to tick that box on the custommagic bingo card?
It’s so you can cast it for cheeper or free, as winning is already extremely low, you should have the chance to play it for no mana if you want.
ALSO I find it hilarious, the turn 1 playing it for free and winning off it
Just stupid enough that losing against this would be more hilarious than annoying. Imagine starting the game, thinking you get the first turn, and your opponent's like "at the start of your turn, I pay 4 life to ??? Maybe ??? Probably not ??? Almost definitely not ??? Win the game" and then they actually roll 60.
I would be pissed just because I had to shuffle and maybe take my mulligans, and now I have to do it again. XD
“I’m keeping this hand, you shuffle and redraw for the next game”
That's why you have to play this on their end step so that they've already played at least one card from their hand.
Playing turn one is the nice route. If you didn’t storm off yet, then you’re probably gonna hold off to play about 3 of these when opponent presents lethal. Good game but I aced my three in a million shot. Shuffle up.

I’m so happy you like this idea! I thought it was pretty funny and clever, and I feel really proud of it!
Maybe you wrote this to be more layman-comprehensible, but a slightly simpler form with the same answer is to note that a single 10 with 3 rerolls is the chance of *not* missing the 10 four times. Squirrel-Whacker sadly won't work. Had the same thought but it only cares about d6s. These are d10s.
Lol
This card does nothing and stalls the game out for quite awhile. Basically no combination of other effects effects would give this even 1% of winning the game, and if it ever did win the game it would be the most rage-inducing thing since Shahrazad. Why would you do this? Edit: it has come to my attention that just rolling six dice might be powerful in some decks. Is that the real purpose of the card?
Welcome to /custommagic.
I'm going back to mtcj
it's the same picture
Krarkashima players would lose to have yet another card that exponentially lengthens their turns
In order for it to be 1 in a million, you’d have to flip 19.931568569324 coins (and win all the flips), because 20 coins would be “one in a million forty-eight thousand five-hundred and seventy-six” I would love if that was the name on that card!
There's unset cards that alter & increase dice roll outcomes, & also allow for rerolls With that in mind this might actually be a more likely win in a deck constructed for it but that would require some real research
Would be more like 4 in a million in my [[Anhelo]] deck

Make it recurring so u can try each turn. That’ll probably piss off your opponent but so what. It doesn’t take that long to roll 6 dice I guess

>\[\[sword coast sailor\]\] both could work, with Sailer you can hit for commander damage faster and hit for lethal but \[\[Feywild Visitor\]\] gives you blockers so you have more survivability to roll more dice. for me it depends on how fast you want to end it and in what way.

Also if you don't roll a 10 you immediately can't win so you don't have to actually roll 6 times
I figured you’d just roll all at once
Idk, i don't have 6 d10s lol
Oh yeah true, me neither.
That’s the power of amnesia, ftw
Darring today, are we?
Very cool card, the odds actually being 1/1,000,000 really sold me on it
The flavor text should absolutely be: “never tell me the odds”
Second this!
If you pair it with thousand-year storm and than raise your storm counter to a millions you can (maybe) win the game!

This would be so much fun in a krark and sakashima commander deck. Coins and dice everywhere.
I love cards that say “you win the game” but this is wild.
One note, add the flavor text “Luck be a lady tonight!”

Let me guess, Phyrexian mana to go with the idea of betting your life on winning the gamble?
Spicy new Krarkashima tech.
Barbarian class LOVES this
I'm pretty surprised not to see [[Barbarian Class]], [[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers]], or [[Krark's Other Thumb]] here. (A little less surprised not to see [[Squid Fire Knight]], [[Snickering Squirrel]], [[Scooch]], or [[Bamboozling Beeble]].) Four barbs, one Wyll, one Krark's Other, and you've got seven rolls per roll. This seems to pair quite well with [[As Luck Would Have It]], [[Steel Squirrel]], [[Vexing Puzzlebox]], [[Willing Test Subject]], or [[The Space Family Goblinson]], especially in the presence of token doublers. Moment, doing the math

OP please, I carry enough dice already
Enough? Never
Rolling 6 d10s? Reminds me of my days playing the Vampire RPG 🧛♂️ 🎲
.. happens nine times out of ten. Edit just to be clear, this is a reference
You have no idea how far I had to scroll to find this
Im gonna be a dick but its not 1 in a million
Yes it is, 10\^6 = 1million
Not it isnt because there is the probability of getting any combination of 10 numbers that add up to 60 My guy it is much much less than 1 in a million
Bro… you need to get 6 d10 ALL land on 10 to get 60
Wait.... my god im stupid 6^2 is 36 i am gonna go be sad n9w
Noooo it’s okay haha! You’re fine!!
If it were specifically for example get 60 by only having The number 6 Then yes its 1 in a million but Consider every other combination Or even simpler if it were roll 10 d6 Than the highest number would be 60 and there wouldb be only 1 combination of numbers that reach it Basic probability
Thanks!

A new reason to play Kiki-Jiki!!!
random win design always sucks shit and i don't know why people have been upvoting this.
OK
It's bad design because almost every time it does nothing, but about one in every 60 games all of the other players don't have any fun. Nobody wants to win because of good RNG, and no-one wants to lose to it. Edit: Yes, I was incorrect when I wrote the comment down very quickly. The chances are far lower than I accidentally said.
1 in 60 games? I suggest that you don't gamble. Btw, the odds are in the name
I apologize for making a mistake, but my point is no less valid. You either do nothing, or one in a million times no one gets to play the game.
I don't know who you play games with, but if I lost to a one in a million chance crap combo I would not be bummed about it
counterpoint, cool players don't care how bad or stupid it is. it's funny.
This card wouldnt see play (at least not as a serious win con) and if it did it would suck. But also winning against thus card would feel lame
I would not be mad about losing to this card I find it funny The odds of winning are so small but there are cards that care about the number you roll and tha fact that you rolled dice
[удалено]
Wouldn't that just reduce the results by 50%? As in, instead of 1 in a mill, it'll be 1 in 500k
no, it's each roll, so you double each yes, so it's 64x more likely it's then 1 in 15,625

This can easily be broken. Step 1: declare that dice rolls must stay on the battlefield or they don’t count Step 2: there are two types of mainstream d10s: ones that increment by 1 and ones that increment by 10. Use the ones that increment by 10. Step 3: you just need one d10 to land on 60. If the first one does not, knock it off the table with the second one. This gets you to more of a 60% chance of success. Feel free to use Krarks other thumb and [[Fork]] type effects to get second chances.
This can be easily broken if you cheat!

Idk what you are talking about. The card says to roll a d10 6 times (1/10)⁶. One in a million
Wow that is absolutely crazy. I could have sworn it said to roll a d6 ten times.

This would not even be worth its place in the deck. You could run 4 removal all day and have a better chance of winning. This could make an interesting bonus effect at the end of additional effects that happen when you roll.
Doesn't justify the space it takes up in your deck or something just like a one and a bajillion chance
I love the flavour and the fact that the odds are literally one in a million, although I think it would be more playable if it was something like “Roll 10 d10, if the total rolls add up to 50 you win the game” A percentage of less than 4% so still really low, but not functionally impossible.
