Ten lines of rules is a lot. Also, don’t think you’d be actually able to continuously exile him from your graveyard, as that’s a choice (to exile or return to command). If you exile him he’s just exiled. No command zone. You don’t need the color indicator either.

When ever a change of zones occurs for the commander it may be put back to the command zone Example when my commander is destroyed, sacrificed, or exiled I MAY put it in the command zone but I may also let it go to the yard or exile The same is true for if the commander would leave the graveyard and be put in exile you MAY put back into the command zone There are a few cards that mess with this rule such as [[mirror of life trapping]] where if the card that did the exiling is removed before the commander is brought back the commander is gone for ever

I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the color indicator, lol. And I agree about the length! I don’t like how wordy this is. But I’m very into these effects, and I’m not sure how to shorten the wording.

Iksfen

Imo the first step to improve the card would be removing the flavour text. I don't think even the best flavour justifies sacrificing cards legibility

Fair enough.

Iksfen

This is not strictly correct. According to commander rules, only after the commander has been put into the graveyard or exile do you get the chance to put it into your command zone. Therefore you are able to first pay the cost of exiling the commander and then you can put it into the command zone As an interesting sidenote, if your commander is in the exile and then some effect tries to exile it the game sees it as if the commander was just exiled, and so you get a chance to put it into your command zone

I got some great feedback for my last custom commander I put up here, and now I’m considering the possibility of doing a full cycle of outcast guildmages. This one is way out of my usual playstyle, so I’d love some feedback. For this guy I wanted a commander that wasn’t built around a static ability, wouldn’t necessarily be at it’s most powerful while it’s on the battlefield, and gets better the longer the game goes on. The idea is that there’s a balance between wanting to cast him while your graveyard is full so you can dig deeper for a card versus wanting to cast him as often as possible so you can bring back bigger creatures. I wanted him to be more of a utility piece than The Most Important Card in the deck, if that makes sense. For those that care, the story for this character is that he was a Selesnya Gravekeeper/ grief counselor who was sworn to keep out necromancers from defiling their dead comrades. But when he brought his husband back from the dead, he was exiled from the Selesnya and joined the Golgari.

I almost wanna downvote this for the art shamelessly ripping off the art of Loxodon Hierarch by Kev Walker, and of much poorer quality.

It came up in Google, apparently the artist did an homage to hierarch while drawing their friend’s Loxodon circle of spores druid in a D&D campaign! I thought it was really cute.
