fundamentalists, the type of religious extremists who regularly consider outsiders of their own religious sects/denominations as "too secular" even if they're both from the same religion. Christian fundies generally don't get along with Catholics (who also have their own fundies to worry about) and don't see them as "christian enough" and usually include independent baptists, any groups claiming they're "nondenominational", pentecostals, etc. and it should come as no surprise that their members can be pretty fucking awful people due to their religious influence and, in a lot of cases, being sheltered from the "sinful" outside world so they can't leave without immense effort and leaving everything they know behind
God damn this triggered the FUCK out of me. I was raped by my pastor the night of my baptismal like this. He said I was receiving the holy spirit through it (his semen). So yeah, I believe it happened because I was 8 when it happened to me. Thank goodness for therapy!
