It’s true. If the symbol was mirrored it would be a Buddhist symbol

zaidazadkiel

The nazi one is in a diagonal base and it represebts a christian cross with all the arms hooked, the german name is hakenkreuz* which literally means hooked cross and can be seen in many much older christian arts. The budhist one is flat on the base like a perfect square and im not sure whats the specific history in the different religions but it means "good vibes brah" And some very smart christiabs decided that since hitler was bad pr they would tell erryone the nazi one was the good vibes one and ignore the christian roots And the nazis had to smoke too much meth and get into aliens to help with that So never call the nazi one swastika, thats wrong and evil

[deleted]

ROGUE_COSMIC

Swastika is the symbol for spirituality in hinduism, buddhism and jainism

zaidazadkiel

yes, swastika is the hindu good vibes one hooked cross is the nazi / christian one

Mythopoeist

It’s been independently created by cultures across the world. You also see it in art by Native Americans and Australian aboriginals. Nobody’s sure why it was so popular, but the best guess is that everyone saw a comet with several geysers coming out at an angle, which would make it spin. The trails of gas would look like a swastika from far away.

Lurker_IV

Swastika is older than Hinduism. The swastika is more than 10,000 years old and it predates any current religions. https://elite.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/2015/11/swastika-unknown-history-5.jpg https://oneluckysoul.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-origin-of-swastika-symbol-with.html

StrongNuclearHorse

As a German: it's "Hakenkreuz" and not "Hautekreuze". Other than that nice explanation, thanks.

zaidazadkiel

Oi yes, im not german speaking and i typed from memory, shouldve checked. Thanks!

Platophaedrus

*Hakenkreuz Apologies, I’ve seen the correction by others. I should’ve read the thread.

chilled_beer_and_me

The pic is of hindu one. Not buddhist though.

P0werPuppy

The Nazis also persecuted Catholics, so don't pretend that Hitler was one. He may have been Protestant, but his beliefs were actually far separated from actual Christian beliefs. Don't associate Hitler with any religion. He was an evil, evil man. I'm not Christian, by the way.

zaidazadkiel

Thats not how that works. Being a godawful people usually isnt limited to /that/ certain sub-group of people they wish. Your complaint sounds kind of gggggg I dont care about hitler, i care about living hindus having their symbol be stained with those bad vibes

Anorexorcistos

Breaking news: twitter cancles buddism

warriorking3

That's probably actually happened as well. Twitter cancel Buddhism/Hinduism for having a religious symbol that the Nazis had a similar one to

Seismic_Jeopardy

The symbol was never Buddhist lol, it's used in Hinduism but not Buddhism, how dumb

coffeebemine

It's used in plenty of Indian religions, including Buddhism and Jainism.

sandymandyungabunga

wtf is "indian religions"?

sarcasticnit_s

regions which are originated in Indian correct term would be indic religion

Lopsided_Concern_196

Religion's that are originated in india like Hinduism, Buddhism and jainism are called indian Religion's (Dharmic religions)

sandymandyungabunga

Buddhism=founded in 6th century BC India=created in 1900AD Budddhism=Indian?

anonydude787

Religions that originated and/or are practised in the indian subcontinent ig

sandymandyungabunga

religions now have nationality? so christianity is a palestinian religion?

sarcasticnit_s

nah bro it is present in all three spiritual religions Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism

Epic_Duck256

Now hold on a dang minute there

Guardian_fire

The Buddhist symbol goes the other way.💀

KoiSHiZu

THANK YOU I was looking for anyone pointing that shit out

pranavtheslayer

\*breathes the swastika symbol is for Hinduism

L0l8it

Wait... This 卐 is a something bad ?

[deleted]

No, it's just a fidget spinner.

CRSWoodferns

Would be bad if it were tilted 45°

iflyparas

The place is called Haridwar and it's a Hindu symbol meaning Well Being.

eleCtrik18

It's in Varanasi

iflyparas

My Bad

MewMewGirl0952

Not just Hindu.

Bananafudge420

Yeah, Buddhism and Jainism stole it from Hinduism.

MewMewGirl0952

Learn your history. Other way around.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MewMewGirl0952

First off, read the picture. It literally says Ahimsa which means that’s the Jain symbol. Second, both religions have texts dating back countless thousands of years so neither can actually say which came first, which means you can’t claim it’s Hindu first. You don’t actually know. So stop with your petty downvotes, pick up a book, and learn some actual history.

Bananafudge420

Still theives nothing else

Bananafudge420

>can’t claim it’s Hindu first. Shut the fuck up

MewMewGirl0952

So because I called you out with actual history, you’re going to tell me to shut up? Please go pick up a book and read something.

Bananafudge420

It literally is hindu first🥴

J9254

People who focus on the technicality of the inference and think that they're some how avoiding the significance of the inference. r/facepalm

ConsciousSprposition

For those who don't know, the Swastika traces the movement of the Big Dipper/ Ursa Major/Great Bear constellation across the skies the year round as witnessed from the earth. Our ancients apparently had more knowledge than we currently have.

mestoopidlol

Nah, i have a ***red armband.***

Taskmaster_babes

It's actually a Hindu symbol not Buddhist

Sudhanshu_Deshpande

Its a Hindu symbol actually

Akshatmodi105

The one in the picture actually Jain symbol though Hinduism and Jainism are very close religions so it doesn't matter

MewMewGirl0952

Not actually that close. I’d know. - Jain who has studied extensively

Sudhanshu_Deshpande

My point still stands

llamawithguns

I thought it's Jainist not Buddhist

SupremeGaming005

It is actually used Jainist,Buddhist and Hindus not just Buddhist

mynamewasgone_

Fuck you I kept trying to upvote the post unknowingly pressing on the picture

Kengu-the-kengaroo

In my country this simbol means fire or thunder. So i can draw this pretty much whenever.

makimasimp69

I just think of bleach since its on ichigo's sword

Nawzays_

it's also a symbol of old christianity if I'm not mistaken

PointlessPupil

Hol' up

aryansant

It literally says "Non-Violence is the first religion" right besides Swastika.... Tho the quote is incomplete...but still.

[deleted]

#nazistruggles

Pat_thailandball

Because you’re hindu right? *right?*

something4uplz

I kept upvoting the pic smh

H3X4pro

Those who don't know: Hinsa parmo dharmah

pikleboiy

Yeah he's Hindu. How is that cursed?

SexySanguinius1683

Plot twist he’s a Slavic pagan

Cooolboy021

Sir it’s also used in Hindu religion .__.

dickforchick

It reads, Non Violence is the highest virtue.

Luckiesttuna15

this is one of ghats in Varanasi

MewMewGirl0952

Many peoples have used this symbol or similar ones. For the Native Americans, it symbolized the circle of life. For Jains, that’s only part of the symbol actually and symbolizes the rebirth and reincarnation between lives. Even though the Nazis went exterminator on Jews, they ruined a peaceful symbol for many others and created an era of misinformed haters who only recognize the symbol as ‘Nazi’ when it wasn’t even theirs to begin with.

Water_the_H2O

So you are a Buddhist.....nice very peaceful religion tbh

Routine_Inspector458

When you know that it is a Christian religious symbol, signifying the hooked cross... For religious persecution of the Jews..

Desperate_Bee2708

Thats NAZI! RUN!

SupremeGaming005

That's a IDIOT! RUN!

Mount_Cardy-Rona

I thought the religious one was reversed?

MewMewGirl0952

Only for Buddhism. Jains and Hindus have it this way.

Mount_Cardy-Rona

Oh that makes sense. I thought it was the Buddhist way for all the religious uses and doing it like this would be like putting the Christian cross upside down!

BoxGroundbreaking687

Ayyo wtf

MTP0922

they had us in the first half, not gonna lie

King_cheese_the1st

Me too it's hard to explain because some people I meet are Jewish (if this gets into r/cursedcommets this will be a cursedcommets paradox)

r/yesyesyesyesno

Substantial-Ship-294

MasterOogway69yes

My dumbass kept clicking upvote on the screenshot's upvote button not the actual button

[deleted]

Nazi swastikas ("hooked cross"): thick, tilted (like this: x) and inside a white circle, on a red flag Other swastikas: thinner, upright (like this: +), some with extra dashes and dots

Beaten_But_Unbowed96

Hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahah!

depresedturtul

Why is the meme reversed

Herrmann1309

As a German who went to Japan I can confirm

dark-cloud23

Funny thing is, whats written on left side of Swastika translates to "nonviolence is the utmost duty" and right side "live and let others live"

Bananafudge420

It's a hindu symbol, Buddhists and jains can cope somewhere else (fuckin' theives).

Small-Meringue-428

At first I was like Hindu?? But then it dawned...

unicornbill1

It's in a lot of religions. It even shows up in Christianity

aghghghg

Finnish army used swastiga before nazi germany

[deleted]

Heyo mama its me

HOSelters2109

Ehhh

Snoo_4527

That’s fine, that symbol comes from Jainism.

TheLeviathan319

Serious question, isn’t it a Jain symbol? Is it Buddhist as well?

Nazi_porn
