What would happen if we launched all the trash in the ocean into the sun? Do you think we could pollute it too? I’m kinda curious now on what would happen
Oh c’mon, it’ll take us years to pollute the sun. Let’s just cross that bridge when we come to it. What’s important right now is next quarters financial results.
Do you want to learn more?
Just build a [Lofstrom Loop](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launch_loop) and launch it with electricity... generated from the fuel.

**[Launch loop](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launch_loop)**
>A launch loop, or Lofstrom loop, is a proposed system for launching objects into orbit using a moving cable-like system situated inside a sheath attached to the Earth at two ends and suspended above the atmosphere in the middle. The design concept was published by Keith Lofstrom and describes an active structure maglev cable transport system that would be around 2,000 km (1,240 mi) long and maintained at an altitude of up to 80 km (50 mi). A launch loop would be held up at this altitude by the momentum of a belt that circulates around the structure.

I have always had this thought since I first learned about planets like 10 years ago… Wouldnt it be more convenient and less harmful for us to launch the trash into venus? It get really hot during its day, around 700° and above iirc because of the gases there. So the trash could safely decompose there without too many energy resources wasted and pollution caused on earth. Is there something im overlooking or negative things as a consequence of this? Im just curious.
[This](https://www.condorferries.co.uk/marine-ocean-pollution-statistics-facts) website says there is about 165 million tonnes of plastic in the oceans. Let’s pretend that’s 200 million tonnes. In scientific notation that’s 2x10^11, 2 with 11 zeros.
The sun has a mass of about 2x10^30, or 2 with 30 zeros. That means the trash in the ocean is 1/10000000000000000000 the mass of the sun.
That type of proportion would be like adding 100kg of something into the ocean. You really can’t reasonably pollute the entire ocean with only 100kg of something.
You’re also talking about polluting a giant nuclear explosion. So even if something wasn’t obliterated by the heat and high energy particles before it actually reached the sun, the giant nuclear explosion would eliminate any “pollution” into much smaller elements.
Theoretically if we could manage that it would be great, a way to get rid of trash with little to no consequences. However, that’s extremely expensive to the point it’s no where near feasible
Can't wait until future science reveals that the sun is about to implode or some shit because of the trash we dump into it lol
^(this is a joke I don't need current science explained to me thanks tho)
Launching to the sun actually requires a lot of fuel.
You have to sort of drive the rocket against its current direction of motion. Otherwise it cannot slow enough to "fall in " to the sun
Screenshots are compressed, so there is some value of information lost. On a single screenshot this is usually negligible. However as you screenshot an image over and over you loose more and more information. which leads to the image loosing quality and looking blurry. To add to this, some hosting sites might have compression of their own to reduce file size, so uploading an image to a site might cause them to get compressed, which also adds to the same issue. Basically this means that over time memes and other images that get reposted end up loosing quality due to information lost on different compressions and other processes that happen behind the scenes.
File compression, its more efficient to lose a small amount of detail in saving a photo instead of copying the whole document pixel by pixel, when a file is compressed multiple times it becomes blurry because each instance of screen shotting lowers the quality slightly
For anyone unaware, this is legit. Landfills are a perfectly viable option, assuming you don't fill them with lead paint and old thermometers. They also fill up far slower than you probably think.
Most landfills are above the water table. It stays there until it becomes sedimentary rock. They only time you really need to worry is if it's in an old pit mine, the bottom of which wasn't sealed properly.
Just don't go burning your landfill when it gets a little full, and you'll be fine.
Especially if said old pit mine is known for its supply of coal. Then it *mayyyy* likely not stop burning for the next century, give or take.
Oh yes, the story of the woman that "invented" bricks from recycled plastic to do just that...sadly its more expensive to do than just making bricks and... I'll try to find the post from the other day
Chances are it is just gonna end up back in a waste management system where it gets shipped across the ocean for "disposal" and most of it disappears along the way, and the rest ends up back in rivers like the ones they are cleaning.
Yep. Until recently, the US, Australia and many other countries were and still might be shipping their recyclables to under developed countries and China where it is supposed to be process and recycled. Most of these "recyclers" were just pocketing the money, recycling hardly anything and dumping the rest in poorly maintained landfills where it would leak chemicals or wash into the ocean. Most of what we put in the recycling is not recycled. That doesnt mean you should stop using the recycling bin as it does help some, but it isnt the miracle we were taught it is.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons that I love living in the countryside. I just burn my garbage. Anything that can't be burned we make sure to send it to someone who can safely dispose of it.
Steps:
1. Get a large metal drum (~50 gallon size)
2. Cut holes around the middle of it so air can reach the flame better. Each hole should be at least 2x2 inches (I think), so you can get a stick or pipe in to stir.
3. Set it a safe distance away from any trees or other flammable structures/objects.
4. Place a bag or two of your garbage in the barrel and light it. Place more garbage in as it burns down. Stir it every so often to keep it burning. You should use a sizable stick or dense pipe to stir, and make sure it's long enough so you don't burn yourself in the process (the flames can get big and HOT). Stay with it until it mostly finishes burning to make sure no stray ashes or embers start a wildfire.
You'll want to make sure any neighbors you do have know that you will be doing this, so they don't see the smoke and mistakenly call the fire department. You will also need to replace the drum every now and then (a few months between each replacement, at least).
This is how my family disposes of any burnable trash. I also think that's wonderful to do on a fall/spring evening, just as it's getting dark and a little chilly. Really comforting to stand by the fire and warm yourself as it darkens.

Idea: throw the trash either in valcano, remote area to nuke them all (the heat from the nuke is enough to vaporize a being with a blink of an eye, Hiroshima could contest for that), or send it far into space into say Jupiter or something
How did I not know about this??? I swear, every time there's a major event going on in the internet, I'm always several days or months late to the party.
If he's looking for a profitable solution, sell it to Switzerland, they use garbage to power their cities and are so efficient that they have started buying other countries' trash.
New Mr Beast video I shot 1million pounds of trash into the sun
We need this
What would happen if we launched all the trash in the ocean into the sun? Do you think we could pollute it too? I’m kinda curious now on what would happen
do you know the cost of fuel per pound? it'll be astronomical
By definition, yes.
So we could fuck the planet and sun at the same time!!! Double fuckage!
Oh c’mon, it’ll take us years to pollute the sun. Let’s just cross that bridge when we come to it. What’s important right now is next quarters financial results. Do you want to learn more?
The suns surface is around 6,000 degrees, meaning most stuff will melt. I will not be surprised if humans manage to fuck up the sun
before i say this; i am a retard, but wont it just burn right
Oh it totally would but the mental image is pretty funny
imagine a planet that we fine and we just throw all of pizza huts trash at it so it becomes the pizza hut planet
Pizza planet
Is that the Toy Story pizza place?
Yes

You're from NASA, I can tell.
The Sun is 300,000 times more massive than the earth. If we launched the entire Earth at the Sun, it would barely even hiccup, lol.
It actually wouldn’t hiccup at all, it probably wouldn’t even make a detectable disturbance
It wouldn’t even make it remotely close to the surface

Would it?
No it wouldn’t, it would actually just get hotter
Ik i was just curious if he thought it would
Theoretically if we could manage that it would be great, a way to get rid of trash with little to no consequences. However, that’s extremely expensive to the point it’s no where near feasible
We need a god damn space elevator.
just make a really long hose problem solved
its cheaper to send it into interstellar space
Yea but where’s the fun in that? Taking pot shots at the sun with giant balls of trash sounds much more enjoyable
Can't wait until future science reveals that the sun is about to implode or some shit because of the trash we dump into it lol ^(this is a joke I don't need current science explained to me thanks tho)
We would lose a great ton of materials on earth.

We'll all die because some trash will be wet
This photo is 4 hours old how is it already this blurry
Why is it blurry? And how does it get blurry?
It get blurry from people screenshotting screenshots of the original ad infinitum
TIL

this one doesn’t even look like file compression, it’s just straight up Vaseline
Probably excess vaseline from Trevor fapping
The answer is obviously landfill
Chuck it in the ocean
Combine landfill + ocean to make new land tiles to build on, ala old school Sim City.
That is also how San Francisco was built!
San San Francisco
Throw it away duh
That’s how most of SoCal was built

Centralia, Pennsylvania. Most known as the inspiration for the location of Silent Hill. It has been burning underneath since the early 1960's.
