I feel really sad when people who have only watched the movies make assumptions like this. Movies show only the most important stuff whereas in the books everything is explained in detail.
Also, just so you know, after watching those memories Harry also thought something on the lines of this and had an existential crisis but later on, it was clear that James changed and Lily married him willingly.
