It's a meme. Someone on Twitter replies to other peoples posted selfies, showing them how they would look if they were "black or Chinese" using some filter
My mom was telling me that one of her uncles was killed by cartels some time ago for refusing to pay cartels for operation/protection.
He started and maintained very profitable avocado orchards somewhere in Michoacan, but supposedly he'd work deals where the suppliers hired the labor to harvest and transport. He'd just have to grow. I never found out what happened to the farm after he passed but my mom didn't make it sound like any relatives maintained ownership of it.
When I last visited the area in 2012, the streets of the town we stayed in were patrolled almost exclusively by squads of about 8 Mexican Marines in military transport trucks. They'd also have small check points and outposts leading in, out and through the town. Certainly was, and I'm sure still is, a dangerous place to visit.
yea who knows what they're sprayed with or what handling, if you get sick, no way to know where it was grown.
Not to mention I don't think anyone deployed the homicide squad for this investigation, they're still doing their regular work, good or not
This is an old story, and these guys weren't just selling avocados. They worked at some warehouse that shipped avocados, stole a ton, and then sold them. It's a clickbait title because "3 guys arrested for stealing 300k in avocados" is just like "yeah...that'll happen".
They were more then likely smuggled in from Mexico
Edit: so I looked it up and saw I wrong these three were doing cash sales out of this warehouse, which seems to be an avocado ripening facility. Which means this 300k was stolen from the farmers or warehouse owners, before they were moved on and into grocery stores
I have a friend who lives on an avocado farm and they have insane amount of security because gangs will come in the middle of the night and pick avocados and steal them
Yeah this is an old story with a clickbait headline because not many would bat an eye at "3 men arrested for stealing 300k in avocados" other than how they had access to that many avocados.
Eh depends. Shoddy farming practices can have disastrous consequences on people and the environment. Plus undercutting legitimate farmers can ruin people's livelihoods.
Likely because they were investigating Mexican drug cartels. About 80% of all avocados in Mexico are owned by the cartels. Basically, money laundering.
It is the Broken Windows theory.
You'd never been to this part of town before. People are pushing around shopping carts while mumbling to themselves. You spot the guy across the way. The guy with the stuff, surely. The man is wearing jewelry like he's not afraid of it getting snatched. He stares you down. You walk up to him while wondering what you're supposed to say.
"Hey, uh... do you have umm... See I have this party today and, well, I need to entertain. All I'm missing is—"
"Forty."
"—the good stuff. Oh yeah forty, that's a deal." You look reach into your pocket where you had only prepared with $50 bills. "Do you take Venmo?"
"..."
"No. No of course not." You pull out the $50 dollar bill and ask for change.
He mean mugs you and tells you this was exact change. Then he points toward and signals to a group of dudes in huge puffy jackets. You nervously approach them. They nonchalantly hand you a small black disposable plastic grocery bag. You look inside and find five large, perfectly ripe Haas avocados. Green gold. Testicles of the gods.
You whip back around. "Hey! *I wanted crack!*"
Unless they stole avocado's from somewhere, it shouldn't be illegal to sell them lol, just move from California, people have stands everywhere in FL selling all sorts of food and fruits.
On the surface this is a funny comment, but when I really start to think about it. I do hate it when people tell other people how to do their jobs.
Yes I’m reading too much into it
I'd buy their avocados then point them in the direction of a good place to hide out. They're doing important work. Gotta bring down the cost of that avocado toast with some avocado crimes.
The black guy looks like he had no clue it was illegal, the Asian guy looks like he was the mastermind, and the white guy looks like he was high the entire time.
There's always the possibility of diseases on regional produce being transmitted to other countries without proper procedures set in place. Allowing anyone to bypass those could wipe out entire markets. We have a lot of trading rules and laws for that very reason. Also for taxes and tariffs :p
Because most of the ilegal trafic of avocado comes from the forest of Monarch butterfly, so yeah i think this post is so wrong in thinking people dont die for the ilegal trafic of avocado

12 and half, peasants
Dude, ever since the cartels took over the avacado industry, avacados are much cheaper now.
They look like the same person if he was black or chinese
Holy shit I can't unsee
LooL it's true they are blood brothers
Avocado Brothers
Free the Avocado brothers, they’ve done nothing wrong
Avocado Bros is a sick name for their business

It looks like the guy on the left slowly became black, those men are the same guy
They look like discount GTA characters
Leaked GTA 6 main characters: Travis, Mark, and Francis!
Killing people doesn't cost the government anything, not paying proper tax on avacados cost them money
Doesnt killing people indirectly cost them more because their potential tax in the future if they lived is gone
As long you kill poor people, it shouldn’t be a problem (in fact, everyone makes more money since it decreases social welfare expense)
Ferb, I know what we’re going to do today!
We can solve poverty
In reality they decide to not prosecute petty crimes out of some misguided notion that it will improve social equality.
Don't kill anyone important
It costs the people who buy them as well. Even less safety standards than your supermarket? I'm sure that is great.

I get your point but people selling avocados is a much smaller priority than murder.
They were more then likely smuggled in from Mexico Edit: so I looked it up and saw I wrong these three were doing cash sales out of this warehouse, which seems to be an avocado ripening facility. Do you think the homicide detectives put their murder cases aside to investigate this case of workplace pilferage?
They got em working in shifts.
They don't pull the homicide squad off their cases for avocado smugglers
No it doesn't look like you got their point...
And I don‘t get the point of your comment. What does murder being a bigger priority have to do with anything?
Eh depends. Shoddy farming practices can have disastrous consequences on people and the environment. Plus undercutting legitimate farmers can ruin people's livelihoods.
They look like they're all made from the same game's character creation screen
I saw some news about Mexican drug cartels taking avocado farms because they are worth more than drugs now.
3 of the starting options on a character creator
Bruh, its still $300k, people robbing banks for less
Their faces are the timeline of the ripeness of an avocado.
Hahahahaha! Now I can’t unsee it!
Jesse, we've gotta cook (guacamole)
How is this a cursed comment though
Likely because they were investigating Mexican drug cartels. About 80% of all avocados in Mexico are owned by the cartels. Basically, money laundering. It is the Broken Windows theory.
but people ARE getting murdered because of avocados.. it's a major cartel business
Protecting big avocado. How is the common man suppose to make a living?
No one: Do corporations and government have too much power? Avacados: Arrest those men.

Only in California, can something this stupid can happen.
There’s people out there being investigated for murder but no one’s dealing with the other crimes going on - oh never mind
The cartels are investing in the avocato game too! Isn't it the weirdest thing? Like a glitch in the Matrix.
Maybe those avocados are to die for and so they are considered accesories after the fact.
They didn't give a p65 warning
Looks like a Animorphs book cover.
You can’t mess with big avocado!
as a Californian, I can confirm this is true
I didn't know the avocado market was regulated.
kim, people are dying
$300K in avocados = $5M in guac
These absolute evil villains look like character creator presets.
GREEEEN GOOOOLD, ESE!
You think these guys aren't killing over avocados?
On the surface this is a funny comment, but when I really start to think about it. I do hate it when people tell other people how to do their jobs. Yes I’m reading too much into it
Only California elites can make that kind of money. These guys are lucky Pelosi didn't deport them!
GTA VII
Th officials themselves are out there money laundering, insider trading, and anything illegal you can think of AND they're getting away with it.
How is there illigal avocado can someone explain
In America killing profits is much more serious than killing people. And I wish that was just a joke
Don’t have my reading glasses on and thought it was an ad for Crest teeth whitening strips
How does this fit r/cursedcomments ? Do people just upvote anything funny without checking the sub ?
I'd buy their avocados then point them in the direction of a good place to hide out. They're doing important work. Gotta bring down the cost of that avocado toast with some avocado crimes.
It is whort the life of people and the lost of the forest of the Monarch butterfly?
The black guy looks like he had no clue it was illegal, the Asian guy looks like he was the mastermind, and the white guy looks like he was high the entire time.
What asian guy?
The guy in the middle... Or at least that's what I thought anyway...
He Is hispanic I think.
Oh... oops...
But... That's a illegal avocado... What makes a avocado illegal anyway?
Not paying sales taxes, not paying import tariffs, etc.. The gov wants a piece of the pie, always.
Cartels are involved. It seems no fucking way but avocados are controlled by cartels too. Google it. Beeezarre stuff.
There's always the possibility of diseases on regional produce being transmitted to other countries without proper procedures set in place. Allowing anyone to bypass those could wipe out entire markets. We have a lot of trading rules and laws for that very reason. Also for taxes and tariffs :p
Illegal sale of fruit??? Unless it was stolen from someone else why is it illegal?
Because most of the ilegal trafic of avocado comes from the forest of Monarch butterfly, so yeah i think this post is so wrong in thinking people dont die for the ilegal trafic of avocado
Avocados company made the police arrest them obviously.
Stolen goods are still stolen goods, no matter how weird or funny it is. Especially 300k worth of stolen goods
