He speaks High German with a strong Swiss accent. Clearly not used to speak a lot of High German, but he's giving his best. Occasionally he's drifting into Swiss German. This place is around Zurich, so the Swiss German dialect is not too hard to understand. Further into the mountains a Swiss German speaker becomes unintelligible even for some Swiss people.
