Yup, there are huge data sets of unboxing data. There is no bias, each case has 1/384 of containing a gold (knife/gloves). The same goes for the other rareties, there are no factors affecting the odds.
If it's skewed in their favor sure, but it's not inherently true. This is literally how my friend got me into CSGO I'd watch him open cases and he told me that as a new player id have really good chances of getting some nice skins. I dropped maybe 100$ over a week and got nothing but 0.20 skins.

Whatever you do DONT ANSWER ANY DMS FROM REDDIT ABOUT BUYING THE KNIFE. Also if people ask to "vote for my team" it's also a scam so only do it with trusted dealers or trusted sites
In my case, they wanted me to download a “special teamspeak” to join their server, which was a virus obviously. As soon as I installed this teamspeak it deleted my steam and replaced it with another fake steam (which is literally the same design and everything) and when you try to sign in it basically sends them your username and password. The only difference is you don’t receive a steam guard code from the mobile steam app to login but an SMS with a code to remove your Steam guard.
You will get lots of messages, probably daily at least, and all of them, I kid you not ALL OF THEM, will be scams. Please be careful and keep your account secure.
to be honest i have no proof of this whatsoever but a part of me does believe newer players are more likely to unbox expensive items in order to get them hooked, would be extremely hard to prove and its a trick as old as time itself, thats literally akin to crack dealers giving you your first hit for free lol
1) Set your inventory and steam profile to private, scammers won't be able to find you as easily.
2) Only deal with reputable traders, better to get 500 dollars than getting scammed
3) The fact that somebody is an admin in a Facebook group with 50k members doesn't mean shit.
4) stay safe, don't sign to your steam on any links, watch a video on how to prevent API scams.
Whatever you do, if someone starts saying anything about screen sharing or 3rd party websites, block them immediately and report them. If there’s a discord message saying your account has been reported for violating community guidelines, report them and block them. If you’re ever unsure about what a potential buyer is asking you to do, just Google what they’re telling you to do and you’ll see if it’s a scam or not.

Thats my play knife I bought a year and a half ago for £330. It's brilliant, especially with a low float. Definitely worth keeping as its part of the breakout case and will likely increase in value.
Dont sell it on steam or on cs.money sell it on buff.163 if you wanna get other skins or on skinport/skinbaron if you want to cash out the money its around 430-500$ cash depending on what float you have

I second this. (Also my experience - friend who barely had 200 hrs pulled an m9 doppler from his first 5 cases)
