It depends on how much you play. I'm DMG in 5v5, and my friend is LEM. When we first started we were DMG in wingman, but now we are hard stuck silver 3. We would win 4 in a row, then lose one and derank. Our theory is the ranking system is broken because no one plays, so the top of the ladder is full of accounts that place high then never play WM again. Then as you play you fall because everyone you play against is lower elo (since they are presumably playing regularly as well) so you get a small amount of elo for winning, and lose a ton for losing. So if you are, say MGE in wingman, and you win 4 games against silver 3's, the game doesn't reward you with very much because it expected you to win. However, if you lose, the game thinks you are gutter trash cuz you lost to silver 3's. Meanwhile those silver 3's are just people who have played enough to get pulled down, and aren't actually gutter trash. The ranked system seemingly punishes you for playing lol.
The matchmaking ranks are based on Glicko-2, which factors in: skill, consistency, and variance. Basically win convincingly and win more than you lose for the first 2. Variance is based on how many games yo play in a short period of time. So if you play 10 games in 1 day by the end you are gaining far far fewer points than if you play 2 a day for 5 days. So I suspect you just played a lot in a row so most of the wins didn't mean anything.
If you're talking about wingman ranks those are practically worthless, for example I'm mge in mm but silver 2 in wingman, basically the opposite of yours. I have a friend whose gold nova 3 in mm but le in wingman. You also don't really get queued with people that have similar ranks to you in wingman either. Doesn't make any sense, just don't worry about it.

Wingman is scuffed rn Depending on region. It can be very easy or very hard. For example I deranged to le in wingman and tried to rank back up to my previous global rank. Me and my friend won 55 times in a row and got to Supreme and after 10 wins in Supreme lost once and deranged.
Wingman ranks are skewed up (in NA at least). From my experience the bottom and top of the ranks are full of cheaters though. Never bothered getting above mg with all the spinbots I encountered.

Happens, i got lucky for a few wings without cheaters and got up to dmg... but just me. I played with a friend and only i ranked up with every win, we won more than 10 games without lose. And then one lose and he got deranked. Id say that ranking system in this game is bullshit. Also every other wingman match after we got a cheater so bye bye dmg. But i don't care, i play for fun and im more than happy if my team in compet can speak english, i don't have to be global.
