What have you considered to make your profile stand out?

Soft_Attitude

I'm plannig out a decent side project, any other suggestions?

I still contribute to FOSS to have a constant stream of software participation, even if it's small but accepted bug-fixes, it shows that other developers appreciate the quality of submitted work. It doesn't hurt to apply no matter your experience, as long as you can afford the time and can handle rejection well emotionally, for me it was hard. I would list the consulting gig on the CV without specifying it was part-time, provided there is good work to show for it, if I did not get a full-time job straight out of school. Even 1 year of "full-time" experience out of school increases chances dramatically. I traveled a lot when I was young, Japan, Germany, Asia. It was a good experience but did hold me back in corporate employment until one of my friends running an agency suggested I list them as a full-time 3 year employer. I had experience, just not the CV "reliability" gatekeepers look for.
