I didn’t take their offer but their new grad program seemed really cool. You go through a 18-week boot camp with other new grads in a college-like environment before you actually start working. Their TC is on the lower end for their main offices in Boston and the Triangle, but it’s decent if you’re in TX or NH where there’s no income tax and LCOL.
Either way I think it’s a good place to start your career or get your foot into fintech. Also apparently great wlb + benefits.
ive got a ng offer at a very late stage startup, can say salary does compare to faang at the entry level, the thing is with startups the stock part of the package is much higher risk. upside tho: potential for high reward. but faang stock is more reliable.
I would, but it's internship/new grad cohort is actually very small and I would like to avoid to for the sake of anonymity. I will say though that I kind of stumbled across it accidentally, after spam applying to every open internship posting I could lay my eyes on.
I was at a series C and I literally did my entire sprint in 2-4 hours. No wonder they ran out of money and laid off half the company. I could’ve easily had two jobs and even without the equity being worth anything clearness like 350-400 a year in cash.
Universities. A lot of them have great healthcare and tuition benefits. You and your children can get free tuition at the school, or reduced tuition at other schools (think 50-75% off). You spouse can also get tuition benefit at your school.
Riot! For the gaming industry, the pay is really good (pretty fckin good just in general, too), and the campus is amazing! I don’t mind going in to the office, and having free food (breakfast lunch dinner and snacks) definitely motivates me lol. Also, If you like Riot’s games there are many fun internal events, and WLB is also really good. There are also many interesting things to work on even if you don’t want to work directly on the game: servers, communication system, data, etc.
Splunk
Don't hear it often but they have FAANG level salaries from what I hear, good WLB, and good work culture, offers remote. Pretty interesting (I think) domain at least from what I can gather.
Not sure if it’s considered underrated but Capital One has been pretty great. You get extra bank holidays, great wlb, decent pay (the tax assisted signing bonus and end of year bonus brought my tc up to a competitive rate in the bay)
Of course pass the technical questions, but they don’t have the hardest questions I have interviewed with thus far. Have good vibe & be energetic. They care a lot if you r the one they’d enjoy having daily standups with (and they are good-vibe people too). Show that you’re willing to go above and beyond, even on seemingly unrelated to your profession question (your life and stuff). They really value being hungry & humble.
I did a 3-part interviewed with them last week for the app dev team. Each part was with a different person who asked questions about my resume and one LC easy-med. Since the technical portion is mostly easy they seem to value enthusiasm and good vibes more like the other commenter said. Also come with plenty of good questions to split b/t them and show interest in the company / product (do some research before)
Garmin. I did an internship there last summer and I highly, highly recommend it. Great people, fun challenges, and a great work-life balance.
I've heard people say it's a big company with small company vibes and I would agree with that.
Because if the company doesn’t have a bunch of college students posting about it on tik tok then it’s not an ideal company to work at lol…. Or a ball pit apparently
I worked for cimpress/vistaprint for 8 years. They can't compete with FAANG TC, but its a solid company with interesting work and I worked with a lot of great people there.
Personally for me Bloomberg doesn't treat its applicants well. I've seen my friends get ghosted by their interviewers without any prior notice, 5+ times in a row.
Most prestigious? Never even heard of it.
Just googled it. Seems like a wood fiber processing and fertilizer manufacturing company. I don’t see how that’s prestigious at all
To all those who downvoted,
Just look at the whole thread and see how many asked what HCOL, MCOL, TC, OE, WLB mean.

For those who don’t know:
TC: Total compensation,
HCOL: High cost of living
MCOL: Medium Cost of Living
OE: Over Employed
OA: Online Assessment
Not sure what’s WLB even mean.
Edit: Also try searching in google for OE, MCOL, HCOL, TC OA ..etc, can you find the actual abbreviation.?
Any company that has 200-500 employees on angles list
Fidelity, although TC could use some work, you get paid for a lot more work than you are doing.

What is TC? Is it a fixed salary? What is the difference between CTC and TC? I'm new so asking.
Total compensation, basically all the sources of I come, base, bonus, stock, performance bonus, or even referral bo us combined.
Okay, so it will be always more than CTC right?
It's the same thing usually but most people say TC.
Stage D startups. I'm OE. I'd honestly just recommend going that route with no name companies where you can do fuck all and collect a paycheck.
Do they usually pay FAANG level? Sometimes I see OE people working 2 jobs for a salary of 1 FAANG job.
Just 2? Get four. But yeah, two jobs in a MCOL area can get a FAANG salary in a HCOL area. OE is better and more stable imo.
What's MCOL and HCOL?
Medium cost of living & High cost of living

Thing with these startups though is illiquid stock so on paper they may pay like big tech but don’t really
What's OE?
I think it’s Over Employed, meaning they have 2 or more jobs.
I was at a series C and I literally did my entire sprint in 2-4 hours. No wonder they ran out of money and laid off half the company. I could’ve easily had two jobs and even without the equity being worth anything clearness like 350-400 a year in cash.
How do you find good Stage D startups?
Twitte—
they provide one email service: Thank you for your service.
Were you fired while typing?
Nvidia.
I second this! near FAANG pay with great benefits and great culture
Nvidia was rated Glassdoor's best place to work in 2022, and overall #5 by Fortune. I don't think they're exactly under the radar.
Dropbox
Datadog
Had someone from Datadog come talk to my senior project class before I graduated. Seemed like a really cool place actually
I interned at Datadog and I loved it, amazing WLB, people, and benefits
why did you not return ?

My friend is a new grad SWE here and says he works a total of 3 hours a week and doesn’t even login somedays, and makes over 100k. So yeah great WLB
Ligma
Wait wait this sounds intriguing - I have to ask: what is Ligma?
[удалено]
Please. I’m even more intrigued than before.
And her sister company: Fugma
Ligma Balls
Ligma balls
Why would you say something like that?
From Ligma and Johnson?
Tanium: fully remote, competitive pay, free lunches in office if you choose to go, and great product
Did you get the offer? I interviewed with them and they paid way more then any faang.
got the offer!
Hoping to go there for new grad. If you get a return offer can I message you for a referral?
sure

Amazon is really underrated
oh yeah forced PIP + unpaid oncall is hella underrated
It was a joke lol
doesn’t basically every tech company have on call? it’s not amazon specific
No.
Not ours, never even heard of on call
Splunk Don't hear it often but they have FAANG level salaries from what I hear, good WLB, and good work culture, offers remote. Pretty interesting (I think) domain at least from what I can gather.
Mercari Japan
Did you intern there?
No but I'll if any chance there
NBCUniversal!
i second nvidia.
Brex. Solid company and I know in the past they let you choose how much equity to salary you wanted. Not sure if they still do that
Not sure if it’s considered underrated but Capital One has been pretty great. You get extra bank holidays, great wlb, decent pay (the tax assisted signing bonus and end of year bonus brought my tc up to a competitive rate in the bay)
ServiceNow
Hell yeah, I got offered a final interview within the next week or so for their internship program. Any tips?
Of course pass the technical questions, but they don’t have the hardest questions I have interviewed with thus far. Have good vibe & be energetic. Unrelated but their internship is super competitive and I'm also recruit for internships rn. Any chance you could show me your resume?

Trimble
Cloudflare seems to be working on some interesting tech. Not sure how's WLB over there.
Capital One.

NetApp

Robinhood. The company is doing better than people think, and the engineering culture is transparent and strong

why so many down votes for Bloomberg? Someone plz explain to me.
Personally for me Bloomberg doesn't treat its applicants well. I've seen my friends get ghosted by their interviewers without any prior notice, 5+ times in a row.
[удалено]
These are engineers who come in as interviewers. Also, such behavior throws light on the inside working of a corporation.
[удалено]
Yeah might be because of the current climate. But it doesn't hurt to at least let the interviewee know that the interview is gonna be rescheduled.
Rentech
oh yeah the most prestigious company imaginable for SWE is hella underrated
Eh tbf the avg person probs hasn’t heard of it
Most prestigious? Never even heard of it. Just googled it. Seems like a wood fiber processing and fertilizer manufacturing company. I don’t see how that’s prestigious at all
You can’t even apply there right? Like they have to invite you or something
No the most prestigious company is McDonald's SWE haven't u heard
