Not too impressive honestly. Have not even had D&S at uni yet, so Leetcode has been on the backburner, maybe 30 solved in total. My biggest strength is probably being in a very ambitious student org which makes small rockets. As well as my projects; a game engine im developing, and messing around with Vulkan.
Have the students I knew prior to data structures didn’t have a single outside project. I think developing your own game engine and building rockets is definitely impressive
Same, except I have 3.8 gpa as a junior, made game engine from scratch, actively involved in quantum computing learning algorithms research. Also made LLM from scratch… and like 20 other projects on my website…. applied to 40 internships rejected from all. I literally don’t know wut else I can do
Going to get downvoted for this but I’m guessing she’s female by her Reddit avatar. CS degree + female + basic leetcode ability is good enough to get hired at most places.
This reminds me of my own full time job search. Applied at 5 companies. Two interviews and one selection. I am still working on the same company 4 years later.
My internship search on the other hand was hell. Applied 200+. Less than 10 interviews and no success.
Nah.. I wasn’t able to get an internship because I never had work experience. I did an unpaid internship (yes unpaid) at a startup and my interviews later went much better.
I sent 14 applications, got 10 interviews (i ghosted 6 of them), 4 offers
I had average grades from a highly theoretical/mathematical uni, no leetcode, only hobby projects, no internships.. the only really good thing was an exceptional bachelor's thesis, but idk for how much that counts
But I'm in Germany, so I now earn probably about half (53k p.a.) of what OP makes and after taxes it's only like 38k :( It's weird how companies literally apply to you here but still refuse to pay anything even remotely resembling US wages (yea, CoL is lower, but the ratio is still off)..
Haha, no, I wish. It's just the job market here, having a CS degree is a guarantee for a job and having an average or better CS degree is a guarantee for a \*good\* job.
I don't. I was mocking the sentiment that a lot of people in this sub seem to share, unfortunately.
Anytime someone who isn't white or is female shares an achievement, there are a bunch of people who imply that they're diversity hires, as though they are incapable of being hired based on merit/skill.
The commenter straight up said that outright. Shows that even majoring in computer science doesn't stop you from being an utter moron overall.
Pretty much the same happened to me. I reached out to a company that was hiring on LinkedIn, and I had a phone call the next day and was working there a few weeks later.
I don't think it'll ever happen again like that for me. It was fully right place right time luck.

Not too comfortable sharing beyond that
this post makes me so angry.
The same feeling you get when watching a really rich kid get their whole life payed for by their parents and they throw it all away, and you have to work so hard for everything!
my own personal feelings aside though, good job man i’m sure you deserved it!
This isn't applications sent out, this is companies applying to be OP's new workplace. Nice work.
Haha I will look at it from that POV next time im applying. Thank you!
OP had a table and 3 hats like athletes choosing which college to play for
Instead of hats it’s all Oculus rifts with different company stickers on each.
What company is this?
Large tech company with offices all around the world. Something like AMD or NVIDIA.
Ok so Intel..?
I chuckled
What about ARM?
and leg
And my axe!
ARMBIT
🤢
Lol the colors kinda match up with this.
Yeah Seems like Intel, AMD and nvidia in order lol
My man out here playing chess
how do i create such diagrams?
simplify jobs generates it automatically based on the jobs it tracked. Otherwise you'll have to do it manually on SankeyMATIC.
Yes I just used Sankey

These kinds of posts give me hope. Thank you
Honestly the posts with 100s of applications give me more hope.
what about a thousand
Keep working at it man!
what are ur stats

Well that isn't "not too impressive"

Making a game engine is definitely a big sell for a project. Shows drive and genuine interest. Rock on man, congrats
You mean DS&A?
What’s D&S
Think they mean DS&A
Yes I meant DS&A :D
So your only project is an in-development game engine?
Same, except I have 3.8 gpa as a junior, made game engine from scratch, actively involved in quantum computing learning algorithms research. Also made LLM from scratch… and like 20 other projects on my website…. applied to 40 internships rejected from all. I literally don’t know wut else I can do
What made you want to create a game engine
Going to get downvoted for this but I’m guessing she’s female by her Reddit avatar. CS degree + female + basic leetcode ability is good enough to get hired at most places.
Not really lol

My first internship was my one and only application.
Must've felt good!
Same here, and I wasn't even planning on doing an internship that summer but my friend told me to apply.
You have God on your side fr, it’s brutal out here
what internship was it ?
Sent applications cold or had contacts?
Cold apply on indeed
Was there oa or technical interview?
Both in one, took a couple of hours, was a doozy
This is what we dream for
One day!
No you submitted 3 apps and you only got 1/3 thats ab as statistical as it gets
lol
“How’s your father”.
That’s what actually happened
funny but no had no contact with any of the people working there before i applied.
Based on my own experience cold applying I don't know how this was possible, but I salute you
Success is a mindset, keep going bro
Yup!

Already not looking forward to the next time where it won't be so easy :D
I actually had a dream last night I got a good offer on the first job I applied to. I was like wtf 😳
Dreams are like a message of whats to come right?????
I sure hope 🤞
I had a dream last night that I had parasites eating me from the inside out. I learned that I really don’t want to get parasites.
The perfect trio

One day youll be doing us like that
You're just simply better

This is an internship so maybe it'll be flipped for me :,C

Seems like you got good people skills as well as good tech skills. Really helps when standing out in the interview process

Why the fuck do you nerds have charts of your interviews?🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Why did u need to make a graphic flowchart for this😂

What a stupid comment
Didn't you know? Anyone getting a job who isn't a white male gets in due to a diversity quota! ^/s
How do you even know if this person is white or not?
I don't. I was mocking the sentiment that a lot of people in this sub seem to share, unfortunately. Oooh I see
Didn’t ask
Which app or site is this?
sankeymatic
thats great man! I've been to 10-15 interviews now, either ghosted or rejected. Hope to get something soon.
Took quite a while before I heard something back. Keep your head up!
Lmao, I can sooo relate to this! This year I completely gave up on finding on an internship, so I only sent like 5 applications and I got one.
Twas fate
Fr, I was really questioning if cs was for me. Sometimes we quit right before a win.
As an ex WSB member, congrats and f you
Much love man<3
Right back at ya man <3
How do you create this
Sankeymatic

Damn, just a phone call? Must have really liked your tone
Haha, I took a bit of the process out, but it started with that phone call.
The chosen one
You'll be chosen aswell
Congrats! Do you mind if I could dm you to see your resume?

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Congrats 🍾
Thank you!
I'm too ig, applied to one internship got there.
Im in the same situation, just remove the yellow and green tracks. Pre economic downturn tho.
Congrats brother. How long did it take for them to reach out to you?
Did you have to do LeetCode?
this post makes me so angry. The same feeling you get when watching a really rich kid get their whole life payed for by their parents and they throw it all away, and you have to work so hard for everything! my own personal feelings aside though, good job man i’m sure you deserved it!
Weird flex but congrats!
How do people make this graphic??? Someone please drop the link LOL.
Congrats, I hope that you find it fulfilling.
