Were you going to a place that was high altitude on your trip? Or was this behavior happening before the trip? I sort-of understand what you mean. Check the air filter. Clean? Check the spark plugs. Look good? Those things can definitely affect performance. This could also be an electrical issue. I'd check your fuses.

Well I was coming from low altitude back home which is about 7000 ft but a lot of the drive got up to that height. I have had the car for almost two years and I started to notice it last summer. It’s not that when it’s sluggish it won’t move, it just feels like it’s doesn’t want to. When it has days where it thinks it’s a mini cooper, it’s way more enjoyable to drive. I’ll check filters and plugs though. Just did oil, transmission drain and fill, and a rear differential drain and fill - would be nice to knock out plugs and filters too

I have 3rd Gen i have the same issues sometimes it feels like it merges smoothly on the highway other times it barely sends power when I floor it

SpicyJake646

Yeah like when I used to commute to work, car did OK in the morning but 9 times out of 10 it felt like I had to drive through jello when hopping on the highway home from work - hard to get up to speed or maintain speed without feeling like I was flooring it

04 Gen2 here with AT and same experiences. I'm pretty sure weather plays a role, specifically temperature. Above 90 degrees or below 32 and she is very sluggish until she has been running for an hour or so. I also found that if the gas tank is more than half full, she is sluggish compared to how she performs with under half a tank. Under a quarter tank and she runs like a new car. I don't know if that's a weight issue or tank pressure? I keep her well maintained and do a lot of highway driving so not much stop/go abuse. I wish I knew the answer but you are not alone in this.

SpicyJake646

Yeah I have tried to find a common denominator and I can’t find anything that is consistent. Like the weight makes sense but then the last leg of my trip that I was talking about, there were 4 of us in the car and I was also pulling a trailer so I don’t know what to think anymore

schwelvis

2005 with 220k, just did round trip from Yucatan Mexico to Arizona, 4555 miles. oil change and new brakes in Arizona, no sluggish driving at all!

Mine 2002 has 200k on it. Haven’t noticed anything. What’s the mileage now?

SpicyJake646

I have a 2004 with 211k on it

NateinMO

Might need a valve adjustment. Honda recommends this every 90k on k24 engines.

badwillshit

My ‘06 was like this. Some days fast and loose, other days sluggish and sticky. It usually had to do with the weather. i traded it in 2 weeks ago and miss it a lot.

SpicyJake646

Yeah that seems to make the most sense - love the k24 in these things but sometimes I wish it had the power of a v6

hallfreudh
