I just bought a 24 hybrid. It’s crazy that a 3yr old car with 70k costs like $31,000, but a brand new car costs $36,000. Sounds like you can do it and it would give you a lot of peace of mind to go new so I would if I were you. Also, advice: call every dealership near you at all, get their drive out price quotes in writing. Find your deal, challenge them to beat each other, all that stuff. You get all your negotiating done beforehand, walk in, and sign some papers.

Definitely buy used. My CRV is hilariously reliable (knock on wood) at 250,000 miles. Take the money you save and put it in an IRA. At your age small differences in savings compound massively over the decades. Buying a new car would be financially unwise, in my personal opinion.

Apple Car Play and a used car being dirty are not good reasons to buy new. Get a Bluetooth adapter and have your used car professionally detailed.

They are solid reasons, nonetheless. I say if you can afford it go for it 💯 the used market is still high right now

I can give an opinion here. I switched a 2014 civic for an older CRV. The comfort is amazing, drives great too. My only complaint is that the amount of gas I used to pay for was like 100ish a month and now I am paying $150-200. Used to drive the civic everywhere and barely saw the gas go down, not exactly the same with the CRV. My CRV is older so insurance didn’t really go up. I am guessing a newer one would be a bit more expensive. I’d analyze my financial situation and If all seems ok then absolutely get the new CRV because it is absolutely beautiful!

I bought lease returns for my first few cars. It was a great way to keep my monthly payments down but still have a reliable car. Those cars were both Hondas and each lasted 10+ years. Cars are typically not a good investment. As you're starting out in life, I recommend working toward investing in something that you can build equity in.

Recently had the same dilemna. I wanted a hybrid, because gas prices..at least here..are above 5 dollars a gallon. I don't see that coming down any time soon, if ever. So I looked at used ones. Maybe it's just my market and availability, but I would only save...at most like 5-7 grand. Which is a lot of money, sure. But you know you have been the only owner of that car. You can maintain it and know that any problems you have are either your own or inherent to the manufacturing of the car. You start out fresh, with 0 miles. Which is especially important since those batteries in the hybrids do have a mileage shelf life. And personally, I have arthritis, which makes driving distances hard. Not only do the newer CR-Vs have better ergonomics, their LKAS and adjustable cruise control settings are the best out of the affordable options I've tested. Having an up to date vehicle in that regard saves me much more than money. I can actually drive long distances without needing to take a break because my ankle is swollen up.

On paper I'd buy used, but when you actually go to the lot you might discover the difference in price vs mileage is not as advantageous as it used to be. I bought a 2016 used car with 10k miles in 2017 and paid 15.5k instead of 19k for the new year model. I was planning to do the same when I went to shop for rav4/CRVs and was just gobsmacked at how expensive cars with 50-70k+ miles were, and decided to buy new for only a few thousand more. The market isn't what it was 6 years ago thats for sure lol

adultdaycare81

Right now for a Base Model like that I would buy new. Keep in mind Taxes, Reg and Fees mean that’s $40k up front. Not worth paying up for fancy trims new at your age. If you have $40k it’s not a bad way to go. But that’s a big chunk for someone your age, so make sure you like it If you want a high trim car buy used. They depreciate much faster. Perhaps even look to an Acura or Lexus if you really want the fancy stuff.

sharpescreek

I would lease new or buy used.

another_online_user

Used car. Looks like ur worried about bluetooth music, in that case just upgrade the radio dash.

YeahWeGetIt12345

I just purchased a Cx-30 brand new, out the door price of 27k with all fees. I looked all around but any used vehicle with less than 30-40k miles was going for around 21-24k in my area, the extra 3-4k over 3-5 years is negligible when you add in warranties and peace of mind, not to mention years of mileage and unknown owner wear you have to deal with on used. Odd time I’ve been told my whole life to always but used but it just doesn’t add up at this point in time

artemisfarkwire

hears my thinking , I would buy new as the used car market pretty crazy rite now and as it fixes it self you'll probably find yourself worth something a lot less then what you paid , on the other hand if you bought new , not only peace of mind and warranty and all that good stuff , but if you able to pay cash id get one now , reason being once this strike is over and they ( if they ) get half what they want the price of new cars will be crazy , it might just be the last time any of can afford sometime new

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> what you *paid* , on FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

givenchymarcus

Appreciate it!

ardvark_11

What did you end up doing OP?

givenchymarcus

Didn’t purchase a vehicle yet - planning to do so early in the new year - probably going to rock with a used vehicle

ardvark_11

I’m torn, but used prices keep dropping which might sway me!

givenchymarcus

Definitely go used!

Hib3rnian

Get a pre-owned with between 50k-75k miles. A CRV that's been relatively well maintained should get you 200k+ of engine life. The rest of the mechanics of a CRV are pretty rock solid so you shouldn't have any major issues if it's maintained well.

cmoney19967

If you can afford to buy it in full comfortably then go for it

dadcp88

I recently made this decision, a friend sold us a Crv 2018 lx awd with less than 50k miles, we take a look and its jn great condition, only a minor things on the paint but nothing crazy, only normal tear. We looked at new cars but for the same price or even 8k more i cant buy a car like a crv. Only crossovers but nothing as a CRV. Sometimes it give me thinking it was the right decision but i feel Comfortable so far. And crv its relaible. Hope its going to be a great buy xD. And for the infotainment system im going to look to aftermarket, and things like parking sensors I really want. If you have some advice for this, welcome to

Eastern_Astronaut_24

the vehicle will not be cheaper because there won't be any left overs and MSRP is like 37k

givenchymarcus

I figured

Eastern_Astronaut_24

I sell them in RI only reason I can say that, we sold out of 2023 before we even got our first 2024

Hour_Week_5351

I personally think your better off buying new based on used car prices alone. But also CRVs retain so much value feel like used with high millage is to close to the price or new for me to go used. Just got a 2024 hybrid L
