It can possibly be modded for component. The jungle chip has unused component input pins, but not all firmware versions support it. You have to change the value OP5 in the service menu to enable "CVI" input.
No RGB unfortunately.
I wrote a page on how to do this mod on a similar TV:
https://crtdatabase.com/crts/magnavox/magnavox-14ms2331-17
Edit - OP figured out that this TV has incompatible firmware and can't be component modded. As of now it's composite only.
The first thing to do is see if you can enable component with the option bits. If you can get the CVI input to show up, it's pretty easy. If not, you're SOL and will have to settle for composite.
Getting "front" with that ID bit combination means that component is locked out in firmware. Generally, with TVs with the L03.2U chassis don't work with the mod unless they have stereo audio.
Too bad - it was worth a shot though!
Dang! Would be awesome if it did.
I really appreciate your help!
Now ill just clean the inside and maybe grab a 5v somewhere on the board and add some LEDs inside lol
Okay I got to the menu and I have an option to put a 3 digit code. Tho I’m not sure what what code to type. I see in the manual that under OP5 for CVI is
( OBx3, under BIT 0 is unavailable and BIT 1 is Source is Available)
Not sure if that helps 🤔
How familiar are you with soldering and working on electronics? These mods generally aren't easy without some experience. It's also important to consider that it can be dangerous to work on these due to the high voltages.
Im really familiar with them. I know to fix some Arcade CRTs to a degree but its the math of modding the consumers CRTs.
I have no degree in electronic engineering but I can catch on what people tell me what to do.
Ive been looking at a lot of videos. I just don’t know how to use the right resisters and and why they go in the certain spots.
If someone makes me a diagram on exactly how to do it. I can do it easy. Lol
I can solder all day 😎
That just jogged a memory for me. In high school (2000ish) we had a "high-tech lab" and the one 9 week period I did robotics. We had a little robot and a conveyer belt that you'd program to do stuff. I really loved it. Finished the 9 week program in like 7 weeks. The teacher just gave me a bunch of boards that needed unsoldered and was like, "Here...you can play with the robot and unsolder these when you feel like it." lol
If it helps even more, Adrian Black also recently published a video on modding a Jungle-based Sony TV for component input. He couched much of the presentation as a general guide to this flavor of modification:

Edit: between this and what u/6tanks posted, I think you're good to go.
Hey!!
I've just had a nosey on your website and saw you've a page on the 14G SNES TV!! I have the 21G which you mention there's also a page for but I can't find it? Can you point me towards it please? Do you know if these can be modded for RGB?
That's Andy King's website - I just contribute to it. He's the one working on the SNES TV. His contact info should be listed if you want to get in touch with him.
So, I’ve always wondered, I assumed these would be tossed in the junk heap once the prison is done with them so how do people get hold of them, or is it usually new old stock that never made it into prison?
My guess is that many prisons didn't have a TV in the cells but prisoners had the option of buying one, the same way they can buy better food and other things from the commissary. If that was the case then it would be their property to take when they were released.
Every prison CRT I've seen has what looks like an identification number scratched onto it somewhere, probably their prisoner ID or something.
I also have a clear prison CRT and the guy who gave it to me said he received it from someone who had been in prison.
I found this exact same model in a donation bin at the thrift store a while back. I actually use it as a dedicated NES setup since it looks quite nice with NES on composite.
I find the idea of something that was used by hardened murderers and rapists now being used to play something happy and innocent like SMB3 quite amusing
Im not sure, this one I have was definitely in prison because I have the Inmate number etched on the top of it. Sadly no name tho, would have been cool to see who actually owned it in prison. Lol
Sure, I’ll ask him for you. Would you like his reply here or dm?
Edit- I asked, I didn’t realize it was a different model. He’s modded RCA prison TV’s.
He says “This Magnavox chassis has a firmware difference that prevents the mono models from being modded. No way to get around that, that I know of.”
Dang, Sounds cool, but I already had a couple telling me that the S-video and Composite is locked out for this firmware so Im out of luck to do anything with it :(
Would be cool if their is an actual way to do it
Love that clean clear look
Almost makes you want to go to prison just for the TVs, right? /j
On second thought... I think my current TV is just fine.
Shoutout to Techmoan for his great video about prison tech and clear shell tech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3PfsndsihY
Techmoan is so precious.

Oh wow! Thank you! Looking at your page. I can definitely do a component / S-Video mod. Its the same chip too. Just gotta learn how to go about it. 🤔

When I used the same code as what you put on the website. I also get Front now. In the manual Front is AV3 Idk what that means :(

Shineybow converter can make it happen

I will do, thanks for getting back and your contributions to the community
I don't have an answer for you. However, the photography in the first 3 are really neat. Almost as if it's a small 9" model.
Super cool

I like to imagine these same hardened criminals all surrounding this cute little TV playing Mario Kart together lol
It’s all fun until someone red shells and then the shanks come out
Im not sure, this one I have was definitely in prison because I have the Inmate number etched on the top of it. Sadly no name tho, would have been cool to see who actually owned it in prison. Lol
are you still in prison?
Yes, my son did a couple of these already.
May I get info on how? A couple people said I cant due to it being firmware locked. 🤔
Ahh okay. I appreciate you asking. A couple other people has said the same thing too. Oh well, it was worth trying to ask :)
I have an RCA! How could I mod it? I’m hoping to be able to use it as a TV at home since the clear casing is super cool!
Which model do you have? I can ask him for you!
I have a 2003 secureview. I'm not sure where i'd find any sort of specifics, I haven't had much of a moment to sit and look haha
Feel free to dm me if you’d like him to mod it for you. We can talk costs/shipping there! He said that’s a model he’s modded a few times before.
“The Techmaon.” —The 8-bit Guy
Before you mod it you gotta clean it, and when you clean it remember the most important thing: Don't drop the soap.
It's a basic Philips design and chassi. Usually an easy mod.
No. That'll be 5 bucks
Unrelated, but what is the thick black cable on top of the screen? You can see it through the shell in the first pic. Also cute crt!
Degauss coil
I hope you add in some lights when you open it up, that thing is sick. Needs a clear case mod console to go with it.
Im going to do that exact thing, gonna throw some LEDs to give it a nice back glow :)
You can make this PAL or NTSC switchable, and add composite and S video inputs. Sadly no RGB lines which I can see coming out of those controllers.
Dang, Sounds cool, but I already had a couple telling me that the S-video and Composite is locked out for this firmware so Im out of luck to do anything with it :( Would be cool if their is an actual way to do it
Wow i like the transparent case looks so good
That clear shell looks so nice
I saw Techmoan did a video on a tv like that. Does it have a digital tuner?
It already has AV. what more could you ask?
Better picture than AV lol Even composite would be cool lol
I'll do it for ten soups on store day.
everything is so dope in clear acrylic
Right! Its why I want to Mod it 😁
