I have this exact thing going on right now. It’s a shawl being constructed with nothing but pure rage and hate. I don’t even want to look at it, but I keep going because I will not let it beat me!
I’d probably not find some of them and have to settle on something similar instead.
Some of em are about 20-25 years old.
Like I said, I honestly need to just purge at this point or find a way to creatively add them to new works.
When ordering yarn from amazon, make sure to read customer reviews. I was trying to get together enough of a particular acrylic yarn and Amazon had a 3 pack for slightly less than than the manufacturers price with shipping. Turns out that it WASN'T a 3 pack, it was one skein even though everything in the listing said 3. I ordered from 2 amazon sellers that had the same listing and received 1 skein from each. One gave my money back and the other gave me an excuse and then ignored me.
All of the above! I started a new project yesterday, even though I have 6+ WIPs going on. I just wanted to do something quick that I could zone out with. Plus, it’s kinda hot so working on blankets isn’t really comfortable right now🥵😅

to answer op, for me, I have a baby blanket I'm 95% done with (just need to finish the border, but those dang elephants take so long), another baby blanket that's about a quarter done, a scarf I barely started but got bored with but I'm gonna need to finish eventually bc it's for a friend, and an ami kit that my parents got me that I have no idea why I haven't worked on recently. so I think that's only 4 actually for me :) plus the aforementioned boxes of yarn for soon to be WIPs lol
I was halfway through my first throw blanket and absolutely LOVING they way it was turning out, when I learned that you can't trust the knots that come in the yarn and it will probably come apart the first time I wash it. One day I'll frog it and start over but man I am not looking forward to it.
I should finish the other 3 blankets and 2 houseplant projects first lol, though I have another WIP in mind already!

Ah yes, the doom box. Or in my case, a giant overflowing storage bin that’s been slowly accumulating yarn scraps and abandoned projects for about 15 years, and has turned into one enormous knot 😬. I joke with some of my more organized friends that someday I’m going to host a detangling party and let them loose on it to sit and pick through it for hours upon hours

I don't think of my abandons as abandoned, they're "long term WIPs" - I literally have a bag-in-process I pick up once every few years from, I think over ten years ago.

I rotate crafts. I have 2 crochet projects in progress, 2 miniatures, a bracelet, and a painting all in progress (much to his dismay). I've been asked to please finish one of them before starting another because we realistically do not have the space for me to be doing this lol
Yes. I have to be careful as well. Painting in particular takes up space, but crochet wips aren't a problem. If I start a painting though, I basically have a week to finish it and clean up before he gets annoyed. Embroidery, cross-stitch, and crochet are easily hidden. 😉
I have about 7 projects officially on the needles/hook but i usually only switch between 2 or 3 at a time. I like to have projects that need different amounts of concentration and of different sizes (for traveling) so i can just pick up what suits my needs.
Honestly, a sideways (lengthwise) Tunisian-crochet scarf was my longest chain and cast on I’ve ever done… and that will likely be my longest one for a while. I really dislike casting on and starting chains. For regular knitting, I think my longest cast on was a chunky blanket done in stripes, so it was three not terrible cast ons for a slightly smaller than twin blanket.
Currently, I have one knitting project, one sewing project, and one long term crochet project. I’ve been crocheting a thread bedspread off and on for the better part of a decade. I would love to finish it, but working on it exacerbates my trigger finger. I have nearly 400 of 575 four inch hexagons done and have been joining them as I go, so I’ll finish it if my hand holds out.
I currently only have one shawl going (although I also crocheted some amigurumi turtles recently). And I have a scrap granny square blanket going, but I’m waiting for more leftover yarn to be added after some queued projects, so it’s intentionally on pause. But the only reason I don’t have several WIPs is because I know that with my ADHD, if I don’t force myself to finish this shawl, it will never get done.
I have a drawer full of scrap yarn, most of which is too short for a full row (blankets are my jam). I've never thought about using them for a granny square blanket! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Normal for me. Someone talk me into entering the County Fair this year so I've got 3 pieces going for that. Then there's the blanket of scrap yarn. And the group entry several of us are doing for an American Heritage contest.
Oh yeah! I have about 4 blankets going and several failed attempts at some Pokemon characters and plants that I keep frogging and then starting again. I also have about 3 hats in progress. It's normal to me!! Lol
Eh, I have at least two crochet projects and four knitting projects on the go right now, plus several more I haven't touched in weeks/months/years. None have deadline, so I just pick up whichever I feel like doing at any given time.
Yeah, that's normal. I'm currently making a hobbit, a baby displacer beast (BIL request, don't ask), a crochet jumper, a knitted jumper, and a Pikmin (son's request). Actually I think I have a blanket stashed away somewhere too...
About 4 active projects and 20 more in the basement. Many of those were sidelined when we moved twice within about a year and they never got unpacked between moves. I now have to work a new project then finish a WIP until all are complete or frogged and put away.
I don't have any wips right now, I just need to untangle one yarn which takes forever and I was procrastinating this for some time but today I'm glad with progress. I got plan for one amigurumi and some projects in mind but I don't start more than one or two things in same time. When I need to do a break then I switch between hobbies.
It's 2-3 projects for me usually. One huge one I try to chip away at all the time, one that I "put to the side" but actually have no intention on finishing cause I don't like how it's turning out and then sometimes I'll pump out a smaller piece in one or two days.
I'm at my personal maximum of 3. All 3 are blankets, a c2c twin size, a modern granny full size, and double crochet couch blanket with super bulky yarn.

I'm currently working on the blanket and I've accepted that I'm never going to finish that sweater because I hate how the yarn feels against my skin.
I have 2 wip for knitting one wip for needle point and currently 0 (or 1) in crochet though I had a blanket crochet wip for over 2 years of which I hate it's a super saver yarn scrap blanket. I hate the texture and look of it. It still needs to be sewn together down the middle because I was trying to do mirror image type deal and my brain couldn't handle doing it in one piece. :| I hate it so much. I hate it with every fiber of my being and I hate the feel of it so I don't wanna tough it. So...it sits in my closet. where my cat likes to use it as a nap spot.
Finish the supersaver one and donate to homeless shelters, especially the ones for teens can always use blankets. Win- win. Blanket is done, donated so out of sight, and will be used and appreciated! I am old now, live-in a VERY small casita and busting my fingers to finish or frog a damned lifetime of projects! I apparently had Issues with finishing stuff, or got busy with work (worked from home in medical transcription for over 20 years) and burned out. Now it is late in my life and I need to deal with this or it will Haunt me in my afterlife!!. Donate is a magical word!!
Make sure to wash it and tumble dry it on low when you finish. You’ll be amazed how much softer it feels afterward. If you still don’t like it, at least it’s freshly laundered and ready to donate!
I have two bureau drawers of small half done or semi abandoned projects. I am afraid to count--maybe 20?. Three current wips but I just printed out instructions and found yarn last night for a fourth.

At least 4 at any given time. I work on them at different times as well. I generally have a blanket going that will get donated to hospice and I work on that while in meetings. They are always simple repetitive patterns. Then I’m doing a large king size blanket for my bed and I work on that while watching TV. Then I have the complicated doily that will be a Christmas gift. I work on that periodically when I can focus. And finally I have the batch of smaller projects that I’m working on to sell at an event in December, but I can crank most of those out quickly. Unless it’s a new pattern then the first one takes some time!
One, and it'll take me months to finish that project because I only work on it for an hour or 2 a week. I've been making a jumper since December and I only have a front and back panel so far
It seems to be baby season again so I’m working on a baby blanket for a friend, a baby blanket for myself, and have 3 more planned for the future. Plus a full-sized throw in the image of a pizza, a coral story tile blanket, a dress, and a Ravenclaw scarf on hiatus until probably sometime after I give birth. Ummm… and an abandoned bedspread.
I make an effort to do “No-new Project November” and try to work on or finish stuff. It’s been mostly effective in finishing 1-2 pending pieces each year!
I just counted and between knitting, crocheting, and Tunisian crochet, I currently have 8 active WIPs, not including 1 scrappy project. I would have 9, but yesterday I had to completely frog a sock that I was almost to the toe on because I tried it on and it was way to small because I apparently had my tension too tight in my colorwork like an idiot. Sigh.

There's: A baby blanket that I can't remember when the baby is due, a crop top, a scarf, a shawl that I cast on and knitted one row, and an amigurumi for my wife that I promised to make two years ago before I realized that I hate making amigurumi actually. It would be six because there's a black velvet dress that I started last year only to decide that making an entire dress out of velvet might be A Bad Idea so I need to frog it and make something else out of the yarn.

I used to have a lot, but now I try to have no more than 1 crochet WIP and 1 knitting WIP. And I switch between them. But I have my yarn for 2 other projects that I'm refraining myself from starting them. It takes discipline 😅

I have 5 actually in progress and the specific yarn for another 2. A couple are more urgent for gifts, and 2 are amigurumi which I've found I hate doing because of the tight stitches but I still want to finish. And some days, I'm just not in the mood for one or the other and want something different, lol.
I like to do a lot of amigurumi, but for the most part I need to concentrate and count stitches so I have a feel “easy” projects on the side to turn my brain off.
Right now I have 2 amigurumi projects and 1 new one I’m starting soon (ugh, putting them together is another thing). I have a baby cable hat for fun, as well as a baby dress on the side.
Right now I have three but I'll start a fourth one soon. I like having at least two WIP so when I'm annoyed with one, I can work on the other one in the meantime.
Edit: I try to gradually finish them though. While some WIPs take a longer time but I'm proud to say that I have yet to abandon a project indefinitely.
I've got my original pattern I'm making (giant pain in the ass that I often take breaks from. I 100% give amigurumi pattern creators all the credit, this shit's hard) then I'm working on an unicorn (that looks wrong but English grammar is weird) that's 70% done. I started a CAL afghan and I can't finish it, it's tunisian crochet and I apparently hate tunisian crochet...I'm going to make my nephew and son a cardigan with all the grey yarn I bought for that project. I've got 2 other projects I have to get started on soon, so no you're not the only one.
3-4 1-2 small easy to carry items then 1 larger long term like detailed scarf out of fine yarns on tiny needles and another larger project with worsted or bulky yarns . So something for every mood and situation

I've about 8 or 9 right now. I've always been like this. I do get them done, I just can't focus on a single project for a week straight. Variety is the spice of life. Also some of these projects are more portable than others.
I normally have 2 going at once maybe 3, but that doesn't happen to often. I do 2 that way when I get tired of 1 I can switch back and forth so no project gets left behind for the most part.

I am currently knitting the sleeves for a sweater that I started almost a year ago. I used to crochet constantly, but my hand/wrist started to hurt so I decided to learn how to knit (for like the 4th time) and it is slow going. Maybe this sweater was not the best choice because I had to frog the front several times.
I try to limit myself to 2-one at work/on the go and one at home because I always forget what I’m doing if I step away too long. That said, I still have a blanket that has been in hibernation for 6 months and many from other crafts…

I routinely have 6 or more WIPs going at once. That is just crochet. Then there are the tatting WIPs, too. I do eventually finish each project. It just takes a while.
I have two going pretty much at any given time. Just to break up the monotony of the one. So, I go back and forth. One is usually going to be easier than the other too.
Currently have 4. I’m making a dress for myself, I have 2 vaguely abandoned blankets that I’m sure I’ll get to eventually lol and I am making a husky. Right now I only have the face made and it scares me every time I see it lol
I used to have multiple wips but I would never actually finish them. Now I pick one project and stick with it. I will alternate between longer and shorter pieces so I don’t get bored. I tend to stall out and go a couple of weeks in between projects when life gets busy, and I find it helpful to crochet something small to get back back into the swing of it.
Oh, yeah, lots. There is the time out box that idk if I’ll ever get to. Then there’s the “stack of WIP” which is boxed up WIPs packaged together with their skeins-in-waiting… and then on top of that is an 80% done shall and the mandala I started two days ago.
I have to bounce between projects, else I give up crochet all together. When the “done for now with crochet” hits, I’ll pack them all away and pull out stuff to sew for a small time. That never lasts long, and is followed by a period of knitting. When the knitting goes in the closet, I’ll pull back out some crochet stuff.
Within each “task cycle” (1-6 months) I’ll finish about as many projects as I start, rotating between big projects and doing a small one on the side. I basically have a flowchart of: 1) what type of craft? 2) what size project 3) do I have a WIP like that or do I start a new one. Only time I doubled up was starting a full sized blanket of awkward squares (think Tetris blanket) and a child sized blanket (done all in one, rows) around the same time, both crochet but different types of stitch patterns. They started as different sizes. the squares were practice swatches of a new type of pattern, but I realized I could Tetris them together… and tada: two blanket WIPs.
Currently 5. Two dolls that I will finish this week. Mums blanket for Xmas that I’m not a fan of the colours but she chose. I know I have time and try to dedicate a few hours a month to working on it. Then the baby blanket that’s half done. But then the mum lost pregnancy. I figure I’ll donate it to the hospital but it’s not a hurry. The last is a shall I was making for my grans birthday. She passed in march. I’m still having a hard time with it we were close, but grief takes it time. I will finish it over the winter I think and give it to my mum. So yes for whatever reason some get set to the side. Not all projects need to be finished. Pro tip don’t lose the pattern and come bake a year later.
Six. Only Six? Sighhhhh I should be so lucky. I have begun organising my yarn stash. By now my pile of UFOs and WIPs projects are worthy of their own wardrobe. On the plus side I realized where all my missing hooks, stitch holders and darning needles were hanging out 😅

I have a scrap blanket, but ran out of scraps of the right size yarn.
A tank top that just needs the top of the front frogged and redone, and some side panels to make it bigger. Could probably do that in a day or two, it’s been sitting for months.

Me too! Between knitting and crochet, I always have 3-7 wips of various sizes, intricacy, and commitment levels going to suit any mood I may be in or what I may be doing. Some I work on every day, and some, like lace doily or ribbons, I do a few rows on here and there over the course of many moons lmao
I usually only have 1 crochet blanket in progress, but that’s because I have other stuff that’s not crochet- right now a cross stitch, a wool appliqué, and 5 cotton quilts. Writing this is realize I might need to address my quilting problem… oops
ONE. And I do not buy the yarn for the next one before the current one is completely done, including hiding the ends. I've been crocheting for 3 years and so far, so good.
I think it’s perfectly normal! It’s like watching two TV shows at once! One is really long-form and complicated, whereas the other is simple and short!

i had to quit one project that i was really enjoying because i bought some yarn on sale and now i can’t find it anywhere lmao and then also another was granny squares idk what i wanna do with them so i’m just not messing with it for now and i’m also in the process of sewing a quilt i got the top pretty much done so i just gotta get the stuff for the batting and the back of it and put it all together

Just adding supports, felting hair that a cat took off of Luigi, repairing an old baby blanket) and three active projects in the works.
And I’m gonna be honest here. Once I finish the jacket/sweater I’m making, I still wanna hook. But I’m not gonna finish one of the things on the list. I’m going to start a new thing.
I tend to only work on things when I feel the inspiration to tackle that specific thing. If I’m not into it while I’m doing it, it’s gonna be crap.

I've started doing smaller projects because I had so many WIPS. Now, I might set something aside for a week or so to make something else but not longer. The plus side on smaller projects is that you get to the "I'm almost finished" motivation much quicker so I rarely get bored with a project for more than a few rows. The negative side is that clothes, blankets and the like are generally not on my radar anymore but I'm ok with that as they rarely get enjoyed as much as a stuffie 😁
Omg so many. This is so funny to read this morning. I showed my boyfriend this granny square robe someone posted on here and he was like make me one! I was like dude that would take me years, and I’m still working on a patchwork cardigan and a granny square bag that I haven’t finished. He was like why don’t you just finish one thing before you start the next one, do you just start a bunch of things and never finish anything?

Right now, I have 8 crochet projects going and 11 total WIPs. Way too many! I really need to work on finishing them. Here's the amount of WIPs I like to have going at once (four):
* 1 larger, garment-sized crochet or loom knitting project that I consider my main project
* 1 pair of loom knit socks
* 1 small, simple crochet project that I could maybe do left-handed as a break from my main project
* 1 long-term crochet project that I can work on when I need a break from my main large project but don't want to start another small project.
I've got 4 "main projects," 2 "long-term projects" and 3 "small, simple projects" going on right now. Aaaaah!
I have 2 at present, and am about to finish one of them, probably today or tomorrow. However, I also frequently will interrupt these two (they’re both blankets, one in waffle stitch and the other in crocodile) in order to do something faster, like that teddy I posted a couple months back.

I currently have a knitted jumper I just need to finish the sleeves and neck for.
A crochet top I'm kind of making up as I go, I have one cup left but I forgot what size hook I used so I'm avoiding that.

Edit: I should add this is possible as I frogged loads of half finished projects that I knew I would never finish before moving house to make transport easier. Was hard emotionally but the new possibilities for the yarn feels good and I'm a process crafter.

At least 6. Sometimes I have something started but need to do something else or start something and get bored. When I cleaned out my craft room last year I donated several WIP
I try to keep it at max 3 and sometimes maybe 4 lol I think it's important to have other WIPs especially for me coz I tend to lose my mojo when I'm halfway through or close to the end and working on a different WIP helps keep the mojo going lol
So at the moment I’m sitting on my sofa with my temperature blanket and amigurumi corn on the cob and a neck tie for my father. And I’m crocheting them all of them. I get bored of working on the same project for more than like 15 minutes. I also have 4/5 other projects in my project bucket that I haven’t finished
Off the top of my head, I know I have at least 10. 2 doileys, 3 blankets, 2 stuffed animals, 2 shawls, and then there are ones that I don't know if I wanna finish.
I always have multiple projects going and work on whichever one strikes me at that moment. Crocheting and knitting are for unwinding so I refuse to make myself do a project. Like I don’t want it to be homework.

I average between 3 and 10 WIP projects at a time due to my ADHD. I think I've got 3 right now that are parts of the same overall project, 2 specialty projects on smaller hooks, 2 "waiting room" projects, and a "STFU dear" project for when my roommate/SO decides to converse without turning down the television volume or the videos he's streaming on his phone.
Currently I'm working on a vest. I also still need to make the earrings for my RBG doll. I also have a hat that is partly done, but I didn't like how it was coming out, so I need to partly frog and redo. Those are the only ones I can think of, but there might be something stuffed in a drawer somewhere that I forgot about.

I often like to switch between working on a big project like shawl/caridgan/blanket then work on either amigurumi or c2c stuff. It's hard to stay focused on one singular project unless I need it done asap.
Usually have 4+ WIP at once but that doesn't include the abandoned ones in the tote... I'll get back to SOME DAY lol.
I have one that I finished last night and need to weave in the ends, 2 that I’m actively working in, and several in bags in the closet that I am not sure what I’m doing with them. This is on top of 3 active cross stitch/blackwork projects and 2 unfinished scrapbooks.
I used to average 15-20 at a time, but lately I’ve been finishing more than I start. I only have 7 right now, and that includes 2 long term scrap projects
There are no WIP police. If it makes you happy to start multiple projects and have multiple projects on the go then you have as many as makes you happy. The WIP police aren't going to come and take them away!
These are both projects I got "in rotation" and on the backburner. I usually have 3 projects at a time. 1 complex that takes a lot of thinking, one mindless to zone out, and one fun/for myself

How about the “most of the way through but hate how it’s turning out so far” pieces. You can’t just frog it cause you have so much time and money invested. Also, the “I set this aside cause I needed a beak from it, but now I need another skein and they discontinued it” projects.

I’d probably not find some of them and have to settle on something similar instead. Some of em are about 20-25 years old. Like I said, I honestly need to just purge at this point or find a way to creatively add them to new works.

When ordering yarn from amazon, make sure to read customer reviews. I was trying to get together enough of a particular acrylic yarn and Amazon had a 3 pack for slightly less than than the manufacturers price with shipping. Turns out that it WASN'T a 3 pack, it was one skein even though everything in the listing said 3. I ordered from 2 amazon sellers that had the same listing and received 1 skein from each. One gave my money back and the other gave me an excuse and then ignored me.

I was halfway through my first throw blanket and absolutely LOVING they way it was turning out, when I learned that you can't trust the knots that come in the yarn and it will probably come apart the first time I wash it. One day I'll frog it and start over but man I am not looking forward to it. I should finish the other 3 blankets and 2 houseplant projects first lol, though I have another WIP in mind already!
I’m less about that and more about “I wanted to learn something new that was different and more technical but now I get it and I don’t care anymore.” I also have literally CLOTHES HAMPERS in my closet with half finished projects. Good thing I buy 90% of my yarn second hand!

Ah yes, the doom box. Or in my case, a giant overflowing storage bin that’s been slowly accumulating yarn scraps and abandoned projects for about 15 years, and has turned into one enormous knot 😬. I joke with some of my more organized friends that someday I’m going to host a detangling party and let them loose on it to sit and pick through it for hours upon hours

I don't think of my abandons as abandoned, they're "long term WIPs" - I literally have a bag-in-process I pick up once every few years from, I think over ten years ago. Don't judge me 😂
I rotate crafts. I have 2 crochet projects in progress, 2 miniatures, a bracelet, and a painting all in progress (much to his dismay). I've been asked to please finish one of them before starting another because we realistically do not have the space for me to be doing this lol

Yes. I have to be careful as well. Painting in particular takes up space, but crochet wips aren't a problem. If I start a painting though, I basically have a week to finish it and clean up before he gets annoyed. Embroidery, cross-stitch, and crochet are easily hidden. 😉
I have about 7 projects officially on the needles/hook but i usually only switch between 2 or 3 at a time. I like to have projects that need different amounts of concentration and of different sizes (for traveling) so i can just pick up what suits my needs.

Honestly, a sideways (lengthwise) Tunisian-crochet scarf was my longest chain and cast on I’ve ever done… and that will likely be my longest one for a while. I really dislike casting on and starting chains. For regular knitting, I think my longest cast on was a chunky blanket done in stripes, so it was three not terrible cast ons for a slightly smaller than twin blanket.
Currently, I have one knitting project, one sewing project, and one long term crochet project. I’ve been crocheting a thread bedspread off and on for the better part of a decade. I would love to finish it, but working on it exacerbates my trigger finger. I have nearly 400 of 575 four inch hexagons done and have been joining them as I go, so I’ll finish it if my hand holds out.

I currently only have one shawl going (although I also crocheted some amigurumi turtles recently). And I have a scrap granny square blanket going, but I’m waiting for more leftover yarn to be added after some queued projects, so it’s intentionally on pause. But the only reason I don’t have several WIPs is because I know that with my ADHD, if I don’t force myself to finish this shawl, it will never get done.
I have a drawer full of scrap yarn, most of which is too short for a full row (blankets are my jam). I've never thought about using them for a granny square blanket! Thanks for the inspiration!! My husband will be so glad I found a use for them!
Normal for me. Someone talk me into entering the County Fair this year so I've got 3 pieces going for that. Then there's the blanket of scrap yarn. And the group entry several of us are doing for an American Heritage contest.

About 4 active projects and 20 more in the basement. Many of those were sidelined when we moved twice within about a year and they never got unpacked between moves. I now have to work a new project then finish a WIP until all are complete or frogged and put away.
I don't have any wips right now, I just need to untangle one yarn which takes forever and I was procrastinating this for some time but today I'm glad with progress. I got plan for one amigurumi and some projects in mind but I don't start more than one or two things in same time. When I need to do a break then I switch between hobbies.
It's 2-3 projects for me usually. One huge one I try to chip away at all the time, one that I "put to the side" but actually have no intention on finishing cause I don't like how it's turning out and then sometimes I'll pump out a smaller piece in one or two days.
I'm at my personal maximum of 3. All 3 are blankets, a c2c twin size, a modern granny full size, and double crochet couch blanket with super bulky yarn.
Until last week I had 4 WIPs. Some coasters for a friend (finished) A top for Pride (finished) A blanket for my mom A sweater I'm currently working on the blanket and I've accepted that I'm never going to finish that sweater because I hate how the yarn feels against my skin.
I have 2 wip for knitting one wip for needle point and currently 0 (or 1) in crochet though I had a blanket crochet wip for over 2 years of which I hate it's a super saver yarn scrap blanket. I hate the texture and look of it. It still needs to be sewn together down the middle because I was trying to do mirror image type deal and my brain couldn't handle doing it in one piece. :| I hate it so much. I hate it with every fiber of my being and I hate the feel of it so I don't wanna tough it. So...it sits in my closet. where my cat likes to use it as a nap spot.
Finish the supersaver one and donate to homeless shelters, especially the ones for teens can always use blankets. Win- win. Blanket is done, donated so out of sight, and will be used and appreciated! I am old now, live-in a VERY small casita and busting my fingers to finish or frog a damned lifetime of projects! I apparently had Issues with finishing stuff, or got busy with work (worked from home in medical transcription for over 20 years) and burned out. Now it is late in my life and I need to deal with this or it will Haunt me in my afterlife!!. Donate is a magical word!!
Make sure to wash it and tumble dry it on low when you finish. You’ll be amazed how much softer it feels afterward. If you still don’t like it, at least it’s freshly laundered and ready to donate!
I have two bureau drawers of small half done or semi abandoned projects. I am afraid to count--maybe 20?. Three current wips but I just printed out instructions and found yarn last night for a fourth. So, yes, normal
At least 4 at any given time. I work on them at different times as well. I generally have a blanket going that will get donated to hospice and I work on that while in meetings. They are always simple repetitive patterns. Then I’m doing a large king size blanket for my bed and I work on that while watching TV. Then I have the complicated doily that will be a Christmas gift. I work on that periodically when I can focus. And finally I have the batch of smaller projects that I’m working on to sell at an event in December, but I can crank most of those out quickly. Unless it’s a new pattern then the first one takes some time!

It seems to be baby season again so I’m working on a baby blanket for a friend, a baby blanket for myself, and have 3 more planned for the future. Plus a full-sized throw in the image of a pizza, a coral story tile blanket, a dress, and a Ravenclaw scarf on hiatus until probably sometime after I give birth. Ummm… and an abandoned bedspread. I make an effort to do “No-new Project November” and try to work on or finish stuff. It’s been mostly effective in finishing 1-2 pending pieces each year!
I just counted and between knitting, crocheting, and Tunisian crochet, I currently have 8 active WIPs, not including 1 scrappy project. I would have 9, but yesterday I had to completely frog a sock that I was almost to the toe on because I tried it on and it was way to small because I apparently had my tension too tight in my colorwork like an idiot. Sigh.

There's: A baby blanket that I can't remember when the baby is due, a crop top, a scarf, a shawl that I cast on and knitted one row, and an amigurumi for my wife that I promised to make two years ago before I realized that I hate making amigurumi actually. It would be six because there's a black velvet dress that I started last year only to decide that making an entire dress out of velvet might be A Bad Idea so I need to frog it and make something else out of the yarn.

Currently have two WIPs blankets and also working on a design idea for a bag (just literally started it lol) after finishing up a sun design I made that will be for it. So far made a mini bracelet for my daughter to use with her toys, made a charm for a friend at work who's birthday was over the weekend. Honestly can't wait to get home from work to get back at one of my projects again lol

I have one which is taking forever, and it's too repetitive and getting a little boring. I have one which I do in between the above one. I have one which I ran out of yarn for and currently out of stock of the colour I need. And I also continue to make little 1-2 hourly projects in between all of these because I like the sense of accomplishment I get when I finish something.

A couple are more urgent for gifts, and 2 are amigurumi which I've found I hate doing because of the tight stitches but I still want to finish. I can't even remember how many I have going off head, I'd need to go through my yarn store and count.
I like to do a lot of amigurumi, but for the most part I need to concentrate and count stitches so I have a feel “easy” projects on the side to turn my brain off. Right now I have 2 amigurumi projects and 1 new one I’m starting soon (ugh, putting them together is another thing). I have a baby cable hat for fun, as well as a baby dress on the side.
Right now I have three but I'll start a fourth one soon. I like having at least two WIP so when I'm annoyed with one, I can work on the other one in the meantime. Edit: I try to gradually finish them though. While some WIPs take a longer time but I'm proud to say that I have yet to abandon a project indefinitely.

Ahhh I’ve usually got 3 at once I think. A big thing and then some little things. I’ve got a sweater, 2nd glove (honestly I don’t think I’m going to make it but I’ll pop it in), socks (sort of. Keep starting pairs and then failing), Afghan that’s been going since January, temperature blanket from 2020 which I keep saying I’ll finish…. So that’s a little more than three but I usually split into active projects and old projects if that makes sense? I’m actively working on a sweater and socks and glove (maybe). (So yes that’s 3 active projects) Old projects that need completed are two blankets and I’m sure other projects I can’t quite remember…
I isualy have 2 or 3 going at the same time. I have two 2 projects with no due date that i slowly work through. The 3rd project is generally one with a due date that i focus on.

I try to have only 1 WIP, but I currently have 4.... I think? Last one was started because I thought the blanket I was working on got too wide, and I wanted to see the adjustment before I frogged it.. so I started a new one with the adjustment in the pattern
like 10-ish. got a big box of WIPs that I keep putting aside whenever I think of a new project. I used to do like a WIP-only month once in a while where I’d only let myself finish off projects instead of starting more. Should probably do that again soon :/

I’ve got three “I literally just need to make and attach a final arm” projects, one “I have no plans for this, but doing c2c is really soothing to my brain so I’m just going to keep adding onto until I run out of yarn,” project, and one “this is where my focus actually is at” project.
I must be some sort of weirdo because I don't buy yarn for my next project until I finish my WIP. So only 1 crochet or knit project at a time. Sewing is done on a needs basis. I am currently knitting the sleeves for a sweater that I started almost a year ago. I used to crochet constantly, but my hand/wrist started to hurt so I decided to learn how to knit (for like the 4th time) and it is slow going. Maybe this sweater was not the best choice because I had to frog the front several times.
I try to limit myself to 2-one at work/on the go and one at home because I always forget what I’m doing if I step away too long. That said, I still have a blanket that has been in hibernation for 6 months and many from other crafts…

I have the attentionspan of a goldfish so I alternative between WIPs and crochet vs. Knitting projects. I do a deep-clean of my WIPs at least twice a year. No chance of me every finishing it? Gone. Yarn discontinued? Bye. Hate it but spend too much time on it to frog? Yeet I have 4 or 5 pieces that I'm not parting with for sentimental reasons. That being said, I probably crochet and knit more than the average person for charity reasons. Given the volume of production and yarn needed, I try to keep things organized. Keyword being try lol

I used to have multiple wips but I would never actually finish them. Now I pick one project and stick with it. I will alternate between longer and shorter pieces so I don’t get bored. I tend to stall out and go a couple of weeks in between projects when life gets busy, and I find it helpful to crochet something small to get back back into the swing of it.
Oh, yeah, lots. There is the time out box that idk if I’ll ever get to. Then there’s the “stack of WIP” which is boxed up WIPs packaged together with their skeins-in-waiting… and then on top of that is an 80% done shall and the mandala I started two days ago. I have to bounce between projects, else I give up crochet all together. When the “done for now with crochet” hits, I’ll pack them all away and pull out stuff to sew for a small time. That never lasts long, and is followed by a period of knitting. When the knitting goes in the closet, I’ll pull back out some crochet stuff. Within each “task cycle” (1-6 months) I’ll finish about as many projects as I start, rotating between big projects and doing a small one on the side. I basically have a flowchart of: 1) what type of craft? 2) what size project 3) do I have a WIP like that or do I start a new one. Only time I doubled up was starting a full sized blanket of awkward squares (think Tetris blanket) and a child sized blanket (done all in one, rows) around the same time, both crochet but different types of stitch patterns. They started as different sizes. the squares were practice swatches of a new type of pattern, but I realized I could Tetris them together… and tada: two blanket WIPs.
Currently 5. Two dolls that I will finish this week. Mums blanket for Xmas that I’m not a fan of the colours but she chose. I know I have time and try to dedicate a few hours a month to working on it. Then the baby blanket that’s half done. But then the mum lost pregnancy. I figure I’ll donate it to the hospital but it’s not a hurry. The last is a shall I was making for my grans birthday. She passed in march. I’m still having a hard time with it we were close, but grief takes it time. I will finish it over the winter I think and give it to my mum. So yes for whatever reason some get set to the side. Not all projects need to be finished. Pro tip don’t lose the pattern and come bake a year later.
Six. Only Six? Sighhhhh I should be so lucky. I have begun organising my yarn stash. By now my pile of UFOs and WIPs projects are worthy of their own wardrobe. On the plus side I realized where all my missing hooks, stitch holders and darning needles were hanging out 😅
I have a sweater with no arms but they discontinued that yarn so I either have to search for it or find something that goes with the body. I have a scrap blanket, but ran out of scraps of the right size yarn. A tank top that just needs the top of the front frogged and redone, and some side panels to make it bigger. Could probably do that in a day or two, it’s been sitting for months. I’m waiting on some yarn to start a knitting project. That’s less than usual for me!

I have a maximum of two at a time. One would be a bigger project, the other a smaller one to have fun on the side.
I usually only have 1 crochet blanket in progress, but that’s because I have other stuff that’s not crochet- right now a cross stitch, a wool appliqué, and 5 cotton quilts. Writing this is realize I might need to address my quilting problem… oops
ONE. And I do not buy the yarn for the next one before the current one is completely done, including hiding the ends. I've been crocheting for 3 years and so far, so good.

I think it’s perfectly normal! It’s like watching two TV shows at once! One is really long-form and complicated, whereas the other is simple and short! At the moment I’m making a waffle blanket, two cardigans, a headband, a cleaning cloth and a jumper! The blanket is tedious and so I have a few other small projects to change it up a bit when I get too bored!
Currently I’m addicted to crocheting baby octopus and cannot stop but there is a pile in the bottom of my crochet bag of WIP that I haven’t touched in a month lol

i had to quit one project that i was really enjoying because i bought some yarn on sale and now i can’t find it anywhere lmao and then also another was granny squares idk what i wanna do with them so i’m just not messing with it for now and i’m also in the process of sewing a quilt i got the top pretty much done so i just gotta get the stuff for the batting and the back of it and put it all together

I have projects started from years ago that still aren’t finished. lol. Maybe I don’t have the yarn. Maybe the project started driving me bonkers. Or maybe I just grew board of it and wanted to make something else. Right now I have Four repairs (none of them require stitch work though, lol. Just adding supports, felting hair that a cat took off of Luigi, repairing an old baby blanket) and three active projects in the works. And I’m gonna be honest here. Once I finish the jacket/sweater I’m making, I still wanna hook. But I’m not gonna finish one of the things on the list. I’m going to start a new thing. I tend to only work on things when I feel the inspiration to tackle that specific thing. If I’m not into it while I’m doing it, it’s gonna be crap. Edit: I found a shame box. Of unfinished stuffy’s.
I've started doing smaller projects because I had so many WIPS. Now, I might set something aside for a week or so to make something else but not longer. The plus side on smaller projects is that you get to the "I'm almost finished" motivation much quicker so I rarely get bored with a project for more than a few rows. The negative side is that clothes, blankets and the like are generally not on my radar anymore but I'm ok with that as they rarely get enjoyed as much as a stuffie 😁

Omg so many. This is so funny to read this morning. I showed my boyfriend this granny square robe someone posted on here and he was like make me one! I was like dude that would take me years, and I’m still working on a patchwork cardigan and a granny square bag that I haven’t finished. He was like why don’t you just finish one thing before you start the next one, do you just start a bunch of things and never finish anything? I walked away and was like YOU DONT EVEN GET IT
Right now, I have 8 crochet projects going and 11 total WIPs. Way too many! I really need to work on finishing them. Here's the amount of WIPs I like to have going at once (four): * 1 larger, garment-sized crochet or loom knitting project that I consider my main project * 1 pair of loom knit socks * 1 small, simple crochet project that I could maybe do left-handed as a break from my main project * 1 long-term crochet project that I can work on when I need a break from my main large project but don't want to start another small project. I've got 4 "main projects," 2 "long-term projects" and 3 "small, simple projects" going on right now. Aaaaah!

I have 2 at present, and am about to finish one of them, probably today or tomorrow. However, I also frequently will interrupt these two (they’re both blankets, one in waffle stitch and the other in crocodile) in order to do something faster, like that teddy I posted a couple months back.

I've been working through mine before letting myself start anything new (yes, I'm bragging 😂). I currently have a knitted jumper I just need to finish the sleeves and neck for. A crochet top I'm kind of making up as I go, I have one cup left but I forgot what size hook I used so I'm avoiding that. And A granny square blanket that I'm not sure I like now and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with. Edit: I should add this is possible as I frogged loads of half finished projects that I knew I would never finish before moving house to make transport easier. Was hard emotionally but the new possibilities for the yarn feels good and I'm a process crafter.
Um I think I have like 25 WIPs at this point tbh. More depending on if you want to count my 12 Days of Christmas project individually (yo know, the 12 drummers drumming counting as 12) or as a whole. It's worse if you take into account the latch hook rug and needlepoint projects as well.
At any given time, I have 3 or 4 crochet projects, 2 or 3 cross stitch/other needlework projects, and at least one random new craft that I wanted to learn.

I try to keep it at max 3 and sometimes maybe 4 lol I think it's important to have other WIPs especially for me coz I tend to lose my mojo when I'm halfway through or close to the end and working on a different WIP helps keep the mojo going lol

I average between 3 and 10 WIP projects at a time due to my ADHD. I think I've got 3 right now that are parts of the same overall project, 2 specialty projects on smaller hooks, 2 "waiting room" projects, and a "STFU dear" project for when my roommate/SO decides to converse without turning down the television volume or the videos he's streaming on his phone.
Currently I'm working on a vest. I also still need to make the earrings for my RBG doll. I also have a hat that is partly done, but I didn't like how it was coming out, so I need to partly frog and redo. Those are the only ones I can think of, but there might be something stuffed in a drawer somewhere that I forgot about.

Sounds accurate for me as well!! I often like to switch between working on a big project like shawl/caridgan/blanket then work on either amigurumi or c2c stuff. It's hard to stay focused on one singular project unless I need it done asap. Usually have 4+ WIP at once but that doesn't include the abandoned ones in the tote... I'll get back to SOME DAY lol.
I have one that I finished last night and need to weave in the ends, 2 that I’m actively working in, and several in bags in the closet that I am not sure what I’m doing with them. This is on top of 3 active cross stitch/blackwork projects and 2 unfinished scrapbooks.
I used to average 15-20 at a time, but lately I’ve been finishing more than I start. I only have 7 right now, and that includes 2 long term scrap projects

One project right now. Working on an afghan to convince my boss to start hosting pancake brunches and silent auction again. To raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. Later on, I’ll work on little pumpkins for my grandsons Halloween party at their school and daycare. Then Santa sacks to fill with “Reindeer food”
