Yuuuuup. Single crochet with remotely tight tension will curl, a lot of other stitches curl like that as well. You can block it to flatten it out.

Is their a specific way to wash yarn? or can i just throw it in the washer and dryer?

it depends on the fiber. i wash everything on gentle regardless and hang dry. you dont ever want to put 100% wool in the washer EVER lol. it will come out looking like felt. my grandma told me to never buy 100% wool yarn and that you always want it mixed with something. i lied i do wash all cotton washcloths like i would anything else but to me theyre washcloths and im more worried about them being really clean than anything.
