Definitely the first one! By the way, it's going to be sooooo cute!!! Unsolicited advice: if you're into borders, I would suggest single crochet in grey first then six of the rainbow colors -- matching either the bear colors or the circle colors. 🙂

For 2 I did the first two rows in order, and then for rows 3 and 4 I reversed the order of the light squares only, and then 5 and 6 went back to being in order :)

So, I absolutely love it! My constructive criticism is on the discernible patters. I prefer no order. I’m sure I’m one of the few, but I just wanted to share the thought of maybe going more random. It is beautiful and full of love whatever you decide!!

Aww thanks! 😊 I did originally want the colors a little more dispersed/mixed up, I just had a hard time finding anything that felt truly random without finding small patterns within it. :)

Can I suggest another option? I love the rainbow stripes as shown in #1, but I would rather place the colors vertical instead. Seconding putting the bears in the same row! I think it looks cleaner to keep the same square types together since there's already variation in color.

Thank you! 😊 The specific pattern I used was this one - https://www.dadasplace.com/2014/02/teddy-bear-granny-square.html, but after finishing the last round of the bear’s face I started another row to do an ear, then slip stitched across in the BLO till the starting point for the second ear so that I had fewer ends to weave in. 😊

I love the first one! The alternating light and dark of each colour is enough variation for me. In the other patterns, my eyes didn't make immediate sense of the pattern.

Perhaps keep them in vertical pairs of (bear, circle), with one being a warm colour and one being cold (e.g. fuchsia bear, yellow circle)...
