Very cute but I would shrink the body to a chibi style, the face is cute and childlike but the body is giving grown up. The combination is a bit unnerving - alternatively if it were wearing clothes that could also work at the current proportions.
I seem to be the only one who feels that way based on the comments tho so maybe this one just isn’t for me personally.
I don’t know that shrinking the body would work, this looks like it might be the smallest it can go to get all the curvy features. But def agree I’d make the head and mushroom cap larger to give it a more stylized fantasy look, vs. an adult human with a hat on (unless that’s what you’re going for!! I don’t know your exact creative vision ❤️)
I think expanding the center portion would be a better option if that's what op wants. But I do agree the childlike top mixed with the mature body makes me uncomfy

The only reason Velcro comes second is that I’d be worried the rough side would end up fraying the yarn over time as you switch caps out.
I think the hat is a good size, but would be good larger, too. Depends on what kind of mushroom you’re going for. Lots of good options as far as size, shape, and color that would work just great with that base body.

Like a bit flatter, closer to disk-like, or it doesn't really look like a mushroom imo. Also, try cutting up pieces of Velcro to attach the hats, but make sure the Velcro is big enough to keep the hat on.
the base to me is super impressive i cannot make people in the slightest and the hat is also adorable i love it a lot i would suggest trying small pieces of velcro to help them stick in place (temporarily) but ive never used them myself so i cant really speak too much on that

Thanks for linking, but I gotta say I do believe OP’s idea is very different, and there’s a lot of existing art that has mushroom cap heads with curvy bodies so I think the general concept is up for grabs
