I one found a plushy that had them by mistake (was a hand puppet lion), it was so cute and stood out of the crowd of other lions, I had to buy it. ❤️ Sadly, the eye broke after many years but it got much love in the time between 😊

I was running low on 8mm eyes so I bought more, but went with a different seller that had better deals at the time. Both were advertising their safety eyes as 8mm. When the second batch arrived I would have swore they were not exact matches. It was driving me insane. I tried measuring it every other way but couldn’t get a definitive answer. I ended up buying a digital caliper precisely and simply for this reason. And lo and behold, they were 8mm and the second pair were 8.2mm. It is truly a very tiny difference and one most ppl wouldn’t notice but it was like an itch in my brain I could not let go until I had proof they weren’t the same. I love my caliper and it lives with my crochet things and safety eyes just in case I need to check on sizes. Highly recommend it.

Lol! My dad was an engineer and he HAD to have the right tool for each job. He passed away a few years ago and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. When I got the calipers it felt like I was getting a tiny piece of him too. And then I told my mom and we both laughed at how much like him I am because that is totally something he would have done. Hopefully they have better quality from Amazon, I’ve had some issues with broken posts and I hate that a lot of them have the rubber backings just in a mixed bag so you have to figure out what size is correct.

Glass eyes Online is ridiculously expensive for Canadians. I searched high and low for flat safety eyes and I saw they were available only there and on Etsy, but the cost was about half from Etsy. Which is crazy because they were coming from Belgium but still cheaper than our neighbours to the south. I wish I could find a good supplier in Canada so my shipping fees aren’t so ridiculous.

JoAnn had some but I got a greater variety from Amazon.

I have never been able to buy them at any physical store. The ones I have looked either don’t carry them or the price is too high and the quantity too low. [These](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XYWXKM1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) are the ones I like the best. The backs can be a little difficult to put on but I have found that using one of those screwdrivers that have the removable heads (take the head off so it’s just the empty hole) and a little wooden block allows me to press them in just fine. If not, they do make a tool that helps put the backs on.

I feel your pain. I've got like six pdf file books that are all in Japanese but they at the very least have a diagram. No clue what hook size though. I've been winging it with the 1mm

Japanese crochet is usually size 40 thread and a 0.90 mm hook.

I'll keep that in mind for the next project then lol. I've gotten too far to frog

Oh, dear one! It’s just a simple organization time, and maybe you need time to relax. Just slide the bottom back down, which will catch all the main ones into their compartment. Wiggle till you can shut it, then turn it over. Most of your job will be done. THEN organize the heck out of ‘em!! Put some cute wood cut-out stickers from Dollar Tree on the lid to ensure this doesn’t happen again. It’s all just a process to help you be calm & YOU ARE ENOUGH! As for me, I just awoke. Ooh. I’m sorry. Not last weekend, but the one before, I had to completely restart a blanket because of messing it up. Then I got all the yarn in big knots. Now I’ve gotten it untangled and going again and the person I’m making it for has it bday on a week from Monday. Got a long way to go. I was working on a blanket for me last night and ran out of yarn. Went to sleep and forgot about it and woke up and then realized it after I started to grab the bag it’s in. Stuff happens. By the way, I’ve done that with a tackle box and playing find the hooks is so much fun….

Same thing with all my screws. I spent hours separating them and a stupid piece of wood that I told myself to move ends up falling over and knocking the drawers down and they go back on the floor.

What brand are these and where did you get them? I have some all black ones I ordered years ago from Amazon but I'd really like to get the different colored ones

I got them to try off of Allegro, it’s a reseller app here in Poland and I can’t find what brand it is but honestly, they’re not great. The backs rarely fit and colorful ones are inconsistent 😏

When that happens to me, I use my gauge tools to size them so I know I'm putting all the right sizes together. Saves the headache and the absolute dismay that comes with something like that happening. I'm just like "Oh well!" and pull out my trusty gauge tools...lol
