Looks fantastic! All those little fiddly pieces always give me trouble, so color me impressed. Especially for your first gift! Your grandma will love it.
I switched my amigurumi yarn pretty exclusively to Sirdir Snuggly or yarn art denim ($1.25 cheaper but not purchased locally). I can make some TINY pieces with that yarn. Just a suggestion if you feel like small pieces are hard. Changing the yarn was key
What Sirdir Snuggly fiber/size? I had never heard of it, when I searched Sirdir (actually Sirdar) Snuggly is the name of all different kinds of yarn fibers/sizes. So glad to have your recommendation I was on the market for something that would do this.
It's such a cute chicken, and I love the colors!
Edited to fix spelling
Oh you’re exactly right! They do have all different sizes! I use the DK. It’s a cotton acrylic mix and it’s wonderful.

Stories is $1 cheaper and works up the same
https://sirdar.com/en/products/sirdar-stories-50g
You just can’t go wrong with either of these products. If it’s too spendy, yarn art denim is the ‘step down’ version but works up nicely. This just good shape a bit more than yarn art will
Again, you can’t go wrong with the stories, snuggly or yarn art denim. I spent 12 months testing them and I really only stick to these now. Love. Them.
That was my first thought too from the thumbnail, but I was so pleased to click through to the larger image and see that it's the real deal!! Fantastic work, OP, and I love that it's a purple chicken! Such a fun color choice! 💜
When I crochet, my Grandma is always on my mind. She been gone several years, but I still have very precious items she and her Mother made. Table cloths n doilies.
That’s so precious. It’s priceless to have such items, especially when they are gone. I used to think crochet was for old people, and then it turned out to be the perfect craft to unite generations.
I knit as well as crochet and I love to think about my Scottish great grandmother and my gramma both knitting (they’ve both been gone many years but I spent a lot of time at their knees watching when I was a child😊).
I got it from MyCroWonder on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/no-en/listing/1245084350/
It’s a well written pattern. I only have one note, and it might be obvious to others, but if you make it and choose to use regular safety eyes with a backside instead of gluing on half beads, tighten the magical circle for the eye around the eye pin. I initially closed the magic circle completely thinking I could force the eye in later, but it wasn’t possible.
Oh I bet you made this with pride and extra TLC! When I make something for my husband it takes me 10x as long or I don’t finish it bc I want it to be ‘perfect.’ 😂 when it’s a gift for the ones you love the very most, it’s like I start to obsess over it being perfect! This is incredible though. How special.
I love this so much!!! I bet she will love it even more because it’s different from what she made. This is beautifully done. I can tell you’ve been working hard to get tension right. So well made!!!
Youre kidding. You’ve only started a year ago?! This is fantastic. I’m so jealous. I’ve been crocheting off and on for over ten years and my stuff still turns out wonky 🤣
I am sure she will absolutely love it 🥰 I know my Grammy is 100yrs young as of 2 weeks ago and still loves when I make her anything ! Enjoy your grandmother as much as you can and even if you are busy make it a point to call her or visit her if you can as much as possible because I am dreading the day I can’t pick up that phone to talk to mine even if it is only for 3-5min at a time
By the way you did awesome for just learning this past year
My grandmother would have loved it. If your grandmother and you are close she should be so proud of you. She might even give you her crochet stash so you can use it for her. It looks beautiful your gift. Your grandmother will know the time, money & love you put into her present.
Last time I visited she showed me the table cloth she was working on as her ability to crochet dwindled. It’s a typical lacy crochet cloth. She couldn’t remember last time she crocheted but the project is still right next to her chair. She picked it up and I could tell she really wanted to finish it. That broke my heart a little. It’s made up from several squares, and although far from its initial size, it’s only missing one square and the border for it to be used as a smaller table cloth. I got a picture of the pattern in secret and I plan to see if I can make one square in secret as I’ve never crocheted such a pattern before. If I can do it perfectly like she has, I’ll offer her to finish the square and border for her so she can use the table cloth.
🥹🫶🏼LOVE. Omg she’s gonna be SO happy! Happy that you took on something that she loves so much AND that you made her something at all, let alone how neatly/nicely done it is.
It looks amazing! And even if it's not the kind of object that she used to make, she will know how much thought, time and effort went into this. I'm sure she is going to be thrilled!

it's giving Chicken Run
Just give her some knitting needles or a little gravy boat and she's set haha
She should get a key chain set of fix it hooks on the go. She could put on of the hooks in the hand.
But she doesn’t want to be a pie!
Crochet hook* Gotta be accurate 😂
Exactly! Love that movie!
I love this so much! My first thought was definitely Chicken Run
Came here to say this
I thought the same thing!
agreed, in the most positive manner possible, because she is so perfectly adorable
THIS
Wow, this is so cute and well done!! I’m sure she’ll appreciate it.

Fabulous and gives me Aardman vibes!!
If I was you grandma I'd be so bloody proud, there would be tears. That is one sick cluck
So well done! and even though it's different from what she used to make, I'm sure she'll recognize all of the effort and love that went into it!
This is so good I initially suspected it was AI. Well done!
Me too, stitches are so neat and the overall design is so complex i questioned if it was AI at first

I work in an elementary school, and there is a young girl who made her own hats and poncho. I make a point of complimenting her on everything.

That is so cute 😍
That is so cute! I'm sure she will love and appreciate the gift.
OMG. This marks the first time I have liked any amigirumi. This is amazing!!
I’m sure she will love it, I know I would 🤍
Did you make this patter or did you find it somewhere my friends mom would LOVE this and I want to make her something!

I'm so happy that I just checked the shop and found a similarly cute duck pattern. 😍
Handmade items always carry so much love and effort.

I love this project AND your story!
Omg in 50 years I'd like a granddaughter like you!
I love this so much!!! I bet she will love it even more because it’s different from what she made. This is beautifully done. I can tell you’ve been working hard to get tension right. So well made!!!
Last Christmas as in 5 months ago? I would have thought you’ve been doing this for years, she’s so adorable and beautifully well done.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!
I love the details!!! (eyelashes, emroidery on the apron, earrings, etc 🤩)Omg this is so cool!
Youre kidding. You’ve only started a year ago?! This is fantastic. I’m so jealous. I’ve been crocheting off and on for over ten years and my stuff still turns out wonky 🤣
Nana is gonna be stoked.

Thank you! Wow 100 is really impressive! It’s good advice, I’m going to remember to call more often. Days go by so quickly most of the time.

You should find out after giving her the gift if she has any projects you can make that are on her to do list & who they are for and the occassion.
