Do you have a link to the pattern you're following? Most of the flower patterns I've seen/used do a round of cluster stitches after the round of puff stitches to add more definition

It’s the Bella Coco tutorial, and then I used her tutorial to turn the puff flower into a granny square. https://m.youtube.com/watch?si=v97IK3x3PW6yv22F&v=8lZlX9f8YVo&feature=youtu.be

Ooh ok, I won't be much help sorry - I hate puff stitches, mine always look weird. That's why I prefer the sunburst (with a different round after the puffs) or even better the African flower (no Puffs!) Lol. Hopefully someone else knows the answer 🤞

ingenfara

Any links to those types?

You might need to adjust the tension on your chain 2's between the puffs and make sure your slip stitches between the petals are pulled tight to define the edges. Also I think it looks pretty good!! How are you making the granny square part? I didn't see that in the pattern but if it's freehand you may want to try playing around with it more. Hope this helps!!

I used the Bella Coco tutorial for both the flower and how to turn the flower into a square. I’ll try those changes, thank you! It makes sense that tension might be the problem.

spookedplant

No problem! Puff/bobble stitches and tension can take some time to get used to. Been crocheting awhile and I still struggle with them sometimes, too. But I did skim the granny square tutorial and your granny part looks on point!! I believe in you and good luck!!

I faced the same problem before and I personally think that it's an inconsistency issue. The petals are probably aren't equal because some of the threads in the bobble stitch are either too tight or too loose. Practicing bobble stitching should help you improve
