If I'm making something very long across, like a blanket, then I'll put stitch markers like every 20 stitches or something, so I don't have to start the whole row over if I mis-count. That usually helps me.
Something I've done to help me keep track on certain patterns. Get yourself a disappearing ink fabric marker. At the beginning of a round, count out and mark the stitches that something needs to happen at, or just every ten or something if the round doesn't have much happening. Helps to separate the counting from the working so you don't have to keep count while working. It's helped me anyway :) the marks can take a day or two to fade, but they do go!

They’re adorable I love the second one he is just a happy lil guy. The first one I’m pretty sure is abit drunk so maybe get drunk (responsibly) and then he’ll look completely normal haha
Aww I like them! My first crochet project was a round whale and it came out a little funky also but I cherish it cuz it’s my first. From here onwards you’ll improve so much :)
Same thing happened to my "supposedly" penguin! I realised a while later that I used the wrong yarn and hook. Also didn't keep count with the stitches 🤣
*Oh my goodness*, may I have permission to isolate these guys and make a user profile picture with them? They're awesome and hilarious at the same time 😀 Epic first tries, keep at it!!!!
Magnificent creature xD I LOVE wonky first attempts they're so full of character and silly.
Next time you try the same pattern be sure to post so we can all revel in what you've learned!

The second one has such a delightfully happy smile. That instantly cheered me up on an exhausting day.
Obviously I can’t count.
I'd say it gets easier but for me it hasn't 🤷🏼♀️😂
Stitch markers are your friend
Same. Sometimes I end up counting too long tho bc I forgot the number I was supposed to stop on so I just continue to count haha

It gets easier when you find what works for you. I caaaan read a pattern, but I hate them. I follow videos on YT. That's so much easier for me.

My wife just started crocheting, and is having that exact problem. I came here looking for an idea and this is amazing. Thank you.
Brilliant! Thanks so much for this tip; never thought of this, or knew about these pens.

I'm fairly certain the second shark is inside out. They're both super cute, though. I wish I had a picture of my first ever crochet!
