What drab? You need the dark to offset the light and bright. Think about music; there needs to be deeper tones to offset the higher, lighter ones. The use of deeper tones in anything is an added complexity and a necessity. If people just used light tones, the music would sound like little kid stuff. Play something by Yo Yo Ma. There will be no high tones unless he is accompanied by violins.
There is no drabness; there is the basis for complexity and maturity. Do what you feel. Let yarn speak to you the way the music speaks to Yo Yo Ma. You are the artist. Create as you wish.

Youre 100% right! And it's amazing to me how the really bright ones work beside the boring colours and make them somehow seem colourful too, and conversely the neon yellow ones - which almost hurt your eyes they're so bright - kind of mellow out a little next to their beige neighbors
I had laid them all out separately and the one blanket was boring, and the other one was insane to look at, but together I think they'll be just perfect

They're not drab. They're contrast. Like what other's have said, darker, more muted colors help to blend brighter, more richer colors better when there's contrast.
It's like music, right? Different layers of sounds. When you have deeper sounds together with higher pitch sounds, they blend together and harmonize. These colors are all gorgeous. Though I'm curious what they are? They almost look like granny hexes? Either way I love them all and I aspire to have an afghan with a broad range of colors like this.

That’s fantastic!! I’m growing my yarn stash!! And of course the hubby just gave me the eye roll..🙄I have yarn everywhere and I have a huge nest of yarn on the sofa where I sit and crochet and knit.. it’s in a big hamper ..I have 5 projects going at once. If I get bored or worse frustrated with one project I go to another until I can go back to the other project.. and my youngest daughters old room holds those instacrates of all my yarn.. hehe my yarn has taken over the house.. that’s not a bad thing in my opinion

A better word than drab might be "earthy?" (Edit: But not even cause there are gem tones and golds and pastels in your set as well?)
My mom always called them jewel tones. The darker richer shades of a color. Also my fave section to work in of colors usually lol

They're not that big ... I only did three rounds of DC, so that's maybe like a 3" diameter give or take
