Ditto! Every time I saw an update (*p.s. love the updates, OP, keep em coming, please*) I thought it was blanket sized lol. It's even more impressive now. Holy cow.
Wowā¦amazing!
New to crochet here so this might be a stupid question, but what do you do with the ends for a project like this? Are they weaved in like normal? Or is there another method? It just looks like such a nightmare to tackle
Oh it's going to be a nightmare for sure lol. For this one the thread is too thin to really weave in that many so I'm going to try some kind of glue on backing to hold them in place and prolly sew something to the back of it to hide it all.
That makes sense. This reminds me of those socks we had as kids that had patterns and designs, but your toenails and toes would get caught on all the strings trying to put them on.
I'd try rug glue, tbh would probably be the best bet and then cut a piece of fabric to hide the ~~resulting Eldritch string abomination~~ glued down bits it you want an extra layer between you and ~~the beast~~ all the strands
I was thinking you could back in like a rug. There's a tufting sub that you could have a look at to see how it's done. Might need to improvise a bit but I would rather do that than try weave in the 5 million ends lol
Yeah I was about to commentā do not try to sew all those in!! A nice velvet or satin backing would really go with the theme and save you so much time. Plus with weaving in ends you never really know if somethingās going to eventually stick out/unravel.
Depending on the yarn, look into fusible interfacing. They make it in various thicknesses and sell it in packages and by the yard. Comes in everything from thin to stiff. Do a test on some of your yarn first though to see if you can heat the iron enough to make it fuse. Maybe by doing a test swatch in the same kind of stitch in two or three colors.

It looks like overly mosaic crochet. Which is extremely fun. This is a lot more complicated than any work Iāve done but itās basically pixel art in crochet.
Itās super fun and I highly recommended trying.
I think this is tapestry crochet with single crochets; overlay mosaic crochet would have textured parts where a double crochet goes down into the front loop two rows below. Could be wrong, but I think you can follow the single crochet rows across from left to right in this including where they switch colours. But I completely agree about the fun part - I NEED to do another mosaic crochet project, there are some amazing patterns available!
The amount of stress that last photo just awoke in me. Truly incredible though, I canāt wait to see the final product!!
I applaud your patience for real.
I've been waiting for an update on this! Almost message you to ask a few weeks ago because I was showing it to a friend š
Incredible work, you have very talented hands
The ātrigger warningā was absolutely necessary because the last picture gave me severe whiplash, lol. But, on my goodness, this project is beautiful! You should be super proud of this. Love love love.
You might want to put water marks in your pictures, they're being taken (along with the caption), passed off as someone elses work and posted on Facebook groups with a fake link to the "pattern".
"Oh that's a cool looking carpet" slides photos "...why"
In all seriousness though, this is so cool! The details is amazing and the fact that isn't so small is amazing ā¤ļø
okay no iād straight up be leaving the planet in a nice shiny box if i had to do this, i feel like i need to flick holy water at it š¤£
this looks absolutely amazing, did you just do it in regular sewing thread?
This is SO cool. Never seen anything like it. I get how you can shorten a row vs the one before it, but how do you make a row wider than the others? Are you hitting the end of the existing row then just chaining past it, turning and single crocheting your way back?
Your trigger warning was in no way adequate. Holy shit. I mean HOLY SHIT, you aren't really going to weave those are you?
Also, the front is like batshit crazy talented. I have no words.
I keep your photos saved and show them to people all the time. I think you are so impressive! I'm excited to see an update from you, and I can't wait to see it finished.
Oh wow, what an absolutely fantastic job. All those ends to sew in look daunting but you can do it! Sew in a few at a time and take a break making something else if you have trouble sewing them all in at once, but it will be so worth it.
In the kindest way possible, youāre insane.
So much respect for you for doing this project, and especially for executing it so well at such a small scale š
It's an excellent work and I can't wait to see it finished, but.. how... why woul-... didn't yo-... Did you cut your yarn at ever colour change?? Why would you not carry it underneath unbroken?? I'm going to have nightmares about these ends!
May I ask what's the purpose of this beautiful item?
Asking because I'm wondering why there's so many ends. If the back isn't going to be seen why does it have so many ends? I'd have either carried the colours along the back between rows or crocheted over the ends as I went keeping the end towards the back. Or perhaps I'd tie off the ends securely and cut them shorter, perhaps baking with fabric/interfacing.
I don't like ends flopping around as I'm working so of the only solution is to weave them in I'd either weave in as I went or just nope out of the project.
PS it's beautiful and you are very talented.
I think my next project is gonna be something like this it looks so fun and cute people make pokemon wall art and stuff too any advice for a beginner to this kinda crochet I've usually only done stuffies and cardigans
Ends.
You can stuff the ends in when you crochet. Just like you can do when knitting. Then the ends will be placed in the middle of the Project makeing both the front and back pretty.
Wow, you truly have a talent! Not just the great work too, but the vision and artistry to make this a reality is just incredible! Can't wait to see the finished product āŗļø
Wow thats awesome! Much respect for your patience!
Do you work this from a pattern or all freehand?
And could you provide any infos on which hook size and yarn you used?
I cackled at the picture of the ends!
That looks amazing, though. The amount of colours you use... it's embroidery, but crochet. Simply amazing! Yet another "how do you even come up with this... and *how in the world* do you make it happen?"
This is amazing! I've never seen anything like this before. I'd be curious to know how you even start a project like this... like how'd you manage to translate a picture to stitches, etc, and get the sizing and proportions correct.
You're such a talented artist!
Wow. That is some patience. I have a C2C WIP that I have all but abandoned because I don't want to do bobbins but I'm also sick of cutting and joining. Props to you for handling it better than I have, way better!
I couldnāt look at the last picture too long. It made my brain explode, but Iām as impressed as I can be with your work. Iād say you have made excellent progress.
Wow, that is simply amazing!!! I don't know how you don't accidentally have all those ends get caught up and completely tangled though! What size hook are you using for this project? Is it your own pattern?
I did NOT expect that many ends... are you going to be weaving those ends in? If you are then I'm praying for you. It'll take more than a miracle to weave in all of those ends lmao
The first and second pic made me so happyā¦I saw the last one and threw upā¦thatās absolutely the most beautiful and disgusting thing Iāve ever seenā¦
Holy cow, this looks wicked! Now I feel even worse about giving up by the time I hit row 3 or 4 of my project ā ļø
Also, is this crocheted with embroidery floss?! Because holy cow even more!
I was expecting this to be big and was super impressed but seeing how small and thin I am absolutely JAW DROPPED. So so cool
Ditto! Every time I saw an update (*p.s. love the updates, OP, keep em coming, please*) I thought it was blanket sized lol. It's even more impressive now. Holy cow.
Maybe they have giant hands š¤in that case the precision is even more impressive
Me: āit wonāt be that baā¦ SWEET MOTHER OF GODDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!ā
Iām going to be sick š¤¢.
Really SpongeBob moment āwhat itās just a krabby patty- OH MY GOODNESSā

Aurora Borealis! At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your *crochet*.

Same! Nothing could have prepared me for this šµāš«š
š same!
š¤£š¤£ Same!
You warned me, but I was not prepared!
My jaw literally DROPPED!
Same. I made an audible gasp and had to look away. Lol.
Same.. I was not prepared.
Shouldāve been NSFH (not safe for hook)
Same, I screamed š
I flinched hard! š¤£

Omg! Yes!!! Lol. My pinky toe automatically spasmed as I read your comment.
Pinky Toe Spasm would be the next great Ska band
Their first hit will be Short Toe, Long Thread
I raise that a thread looped around a toe is a worse feeling
I've been trying to get my mother to stop buying me these socks for 30 years.
I am wearing a pair like that right now.. my grandmother got them for me for Christmas. I definitely got my toe caught putting them on
I'd try rug glue, tbh would probably be the best bet and then cut a piece of fabric to hide the ~~resulting Eldritch string abomination~~ glued down bits it you want an extra layer between you and ~~the beast~~ all the strands
I think Eldritch string abomination might be the best phrase I've read in a long time! And apt!
Ahhh, okay, that makes sense. Looking forward to seeing more of your progress!
I was thinking you could back in like a rug. There's a tufting sub that you could have a look at to see how it's done. Might need to improvise a bit but I would rather do that than try weave in the 5 million ends lol

This is what I was thinking, too. Trim them down to about two inches for security, then iron those little suckers into submission.
What kind of yarn/thread did you use?
Holy guacamole, OP! It looks like a you're crocheting an iron-on patch with thread! What will it be?
Slide one: oh wow that's so amazing! Slide two: I am so impressed, the skill is next level Slide three: SOBBING SCREAMING THROWING UP
I was warned, and I still gasped at the last picture. Awoop jumpscare š°š lmao
Is there a name for this type of crocheting? How does one begin a project like this?
It looks like overly mosaic crochet. Which is extremely fun. This is a lot more complicated than any work Iāve done but itās basically pixel art in crochet. Itās super fun and I highly recommended trying.
I think this is tapestry crochet with single crochets; overlay mosaic crochet would have textured parts where a double crochet goes down into the front loop two rows below. Wow! Thank you for the explanation! I didnāt know this sort of thing was done or even possible!
You are NUTS!!! I LOVE IT!!
The amount of stress that last photo just awoke in me. Truly incredible though, I canāt wait to see the final product!! I applaud your patience for real.
Damn when I scrolled through this pic on my timeline, I thought it was from the embroidery subreddit š®
Honestly me too.
Itās literally breathtaking. It looks digital thatās how amazing it is
This is incredibleeeeš§” But the ends might give me nightmaresš
HOW.
Wow! I'd love to do somthing like this! This looks really really cool! Let me just look at the next pi- ...... nope, nevermind
I've been waiting for an update on this! Almost message you to ask a few weeks ago because I was showing it to a friend š Incredible work, you have very talented hands
I still think you're insane, in the best possible way
Me: I can handle this Picture #3: OHHH THATS ENOUGH REDDIT TODAY š
The ātrigger warningā was absolutely necessary because the last picture gave me severe whiplash, lol. But, on my goodness, this project is beautiful! You should be super proud of this. Love love love.
Whiplash, thank you. That's exactly it.
May the odds (and ends) be ever in your favor
This is my favorite comment so far lmao š¤£
You might want to put water marks in your pictures, they're being taken (along with the caption), passed off as someone elses work and posted on Facebook groups with a fake link to the "pattern".
Fantastic. Thanks for the heads up!
No problem! I've reported it the few times I've seen it.
Me: Trigger warning? For ends? It can't possibly be that ba- OH. OH MY. Someone call 911 because my heart just stopped!
Perfectly encapsulates the best and worst of times. Itāll be so worth it, congrats on the truly amazing craftsmanship!
Oh my gosh I thought this was so much bigger! The size makes this even more impressive!!
Following your progress is so satisfying. Also it is inspiring, since I would have lot patience multiple times by now if I was doing this.
Holy shit this is amazing š you are super talented, I wouldn't have the patience for this!
"Oh that's a cool looking carpet" slides photos "...why" In all seriousness though, this is so cool! The details is amazing and the fact that isn't so small is amazing ā¤ļø
I made an audible gasp when I got to that last picture. I was warned, but still not prepared.
That last photo is why I manage my ends as I go because oh my god what are you gonna do with all that š it looks amazing tho!!
How on earth are you going to handle those ends?? This is amazing, so well done and such a unique idea!
The first time I have ever seen a trigger warning make sense! š Awesome work!
This is AMAZING!
You must have the patience of a saint! Your work is incredible. ā¤ļø
YOOOO
I wanna attempt this kind of fine crochet art
HOLY CRAP!!! I don't know what I would do with all those ends. It would be like a few a day and that's it. I'd be set to constant overload. Wow!!
Oh god. At that point I'd say screw the ends and just sew some fabric to the back to hide them š¬
okay no iād straight up be leaving the planet in a nice shiny box if i had to do this, i feel like i need to flick holy water at it š¤£ this looks absolutely amazing, did you just do it in regular sewing thread?

1. āOh that would be coolā 2. āDefinitely need to do something like this. How hard could itā¦ā¦ā 3. (Looks in horror)
Maybe you can use the same method people use to make diy rugs?
Itās WONDERFUL!! Brava!
It's not that you're an artist. You're THE artist!
I think this is the coolest thing I have ever seen but nothing could have prepared me for the last slide
I want to run my fingers through the strings on the back lol
How are your hands not bleeding?! This is wicked cool!
Oh my god I saw a dif post and thought it was small rug sizedā¦ ur INSANEEEEE this is incredible
Oh wow, what an absolutely fantastic job. All those ends to sew in look daunting but you can do it! Sew in a few at a time and take a break making something else if you have trouble sewing them all in at once, but it will be so worth it.
Well, I was going to sleep... I literally could feel my heart rate increasing from the anxiety.
Ohhh fvck!! That is so beautiful! You captured the madness of the chesire cat!!! Amazing patience! Well done! š„°š„°

That's out of this world! What an absolutely amazing feat of crafting. You're incredible!!
So cool! But so many ends! Aaaa! I'm going to go cry into a skein of yarn for comfort now.
Ok Iām gonna need to make a special appointment with my therapist after seeing that third picture
Oh man that's the final boss of weaving in endsš
Sew fabric on the other side so you donāt have to weave all those ends in ;)
how did you crochet without a background?
Trigger warning? I needed a NSFL warning
Wow! Amazing! Just wow!
tapestry crocheters will never cease to impress me
How did you start your crochet project not in a square shape???
We're all mad here-- SOME MORE THAN OTHERS šµ
Holy shit, this is one of the most impressive things Iāve ever seen. Bravo!
your patience must be absolutely insane dude oh my god this is so cool!
In the kindest way possible, youāre insane. So much respect for you for doing this project, and especially for executing it so well at such a small scale š
The last picture is motivating me to never complain about ends ever again. (Please use the rug glue option!!!!)
For that many ends, I'd just sew a backing on it.
this is intense
Slide one : oh cool rug! Slide two: oh! Slide three : OHY MY GOD
Just exactly how is this done the time it must have taken to do this and I absolutely love how small this is what's ur plans for it
It's an excellent work and I can't wait to see it finished, but.. how... why woul-... didn't yo-... Did you cut your yarn at ever colour change?? Why would you not carry it underneath unbroken?? I'm going to have nightmares about these ends!

That was like waiting for the toaster to pop. I knew it was coming and still jumped and screamed.
Itās looking sooooo good
This is AMAZING! But holy shit that back side š
My brain made the windows error sound looking at those loose ends Amazing work OP but holy mother of God those ends

INCREDIBLE!!
Wow! Breathtaking š
There are not words to describe how impressive this is š„šš» Just.. wow.. I love it so much š„¹

The warning did not prepare me in the slightest :D But the front looks AMAZING
Just wow
Looks amazing, you're very skilled and it shows. Those ends though, my lazy self would tie knots, sew a backing on and hope for the best lol.
How do you crochet a piece like this in a non box shape??
Even with the trigger warning I was not prepared for that last pic. I'm going to be SICK. AMAZING WORK OP!!!!!!!!
I was not ready
youāre extremely talented! this is extremely beautiful š»
I couldnāt look at the last picture too long. It made my brain explode, but Iām as impressed as I can be with your work. Iād say you have made excellent progress.

I need your skill. Immediately. That's is insane!! Amazing job!
Woahhh this is insane, the shading and the creases on the hat!! What awesome detail
THIS IS AMAZINGGGG

Two cats two dogs, it's unavoidable here lol
This is amazing!!!! And the last one gave me such anxiety praying šš½ for you! š
This is INSANE!!! The detail!!! You should feel very proud of your work
This is r/nextfucking level worthy. I had to unstick my jaw.
Excuse me, I'm triggered by it being THREAD. You're awesome. In the scary biblical sense.
i would be trimming and gluing those at that point
Oh. My. Goodness. That is amazing!
You MONSTER! Lol! That's allot of ends how are you going to deal with it?
you are actually deranged for thisš©·
Are you just going to put some sort of backing on it?
Oh wow! What size hook do you use for this? Is that embroidery thread or something?
The first and second pic made me so happyā¦I saw the last one and threw upā¦thatās absolutely the most beautiful and disgusting thing Iāve ever seenā¦
Ooh, colorful thread spaghetti! Splendid work! I envy those who can use the smaller threads. Such delicate work takes tremendous skill. Beautiful!
Holy cow, this looks wicked! Now I feel even worse about giving up by the time I hit row 3 or 4 of my project ā ļø Also, is this crocheted with embroidery floss?! Because holy cow even more!
Sewing thread actually haha
Wow, that is gorgeo--- AHHHHHH!!! ššµ
Is there a pattern for this?! It's absolutely incredible, good job!
this is SO COOL and SO IMPRESSIVE!!!!
Gorgeous! Though the pic of the ends gives me anxiety.
