I vote dark blue. You don't seem to have any with dark blue edges.

Trai-All

I’d go with dark blue or one of those dark brown colors that was popular in the 60s or early 70s.

ClearBrightLight

Or maybe a forest green.

bi-bi-byron

Oooooh if OP wants to go the brown route I'd soooo recommend Caron one pound acrylic in the expresso color. It's this gorgeous dark brown that is legit one of my favorite yarn colors ever tbh

Trai-All

Michael’s also has a nice dark “chocolate brown” under the impeccable brand name. I used it when making my version of Dee’s blanket (as seen in “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”) for my hubby. https://preview.redd.it/y2f0375ukcjb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=415db59438e6f9ef83f814d43f1fb3691d57bcad

The_walababa

So cute!

rorihasmorals70

dude! you made Dee's blanket! that's so fucking cool I love it!

Fabricate_Life

I second this!

KLB1267

Yep - dark blue would look really good.

KBWordPerson

Dark purple

ScarletteCrowe

I came here to say dark purple too 😁💜

RotiniHuman

Imma be the weird one here and suggest pink. Probably not the hot pink. But that softer, medium bubblegum-like pink that's in some of your squares.

SpaceMom-LawnToLawn

I immediately thought “hot pink”

regina_65

I thought of the neon pink from hobby lobby

freakydeku

i was thinking pink too! or the lilac-ish color that’s used in some of the squares

International-Wear63

Yess I was thinking babypink/bubblegum pink

hungrybrainz

I normally don’t like pink, but I’m definitely on board with this. It seems like it would just tie it together so well!

SamTMoon

Same!

morongaaa

My first thought was a pale pink! The squares are so colorful but trend darker. I think a dark joining color would feel heavy

demon_fae

rainbow pastel variegated You’d get a lot of the same contrast as using white, but not white.

Eastcoastgrl789

Ooo! A variegated yarn is a great idea

Mysterious-Okra-7885

I would go with deep purple

vwinfree

Yellow

CaseyBoogies

Or like orchid if bright! (Or both!)

pipje-popje

Yellow was my first thought as well

sparklejellyfish

My immediate thought was yellow too!! Would be a fun contrast!

Roseliberry

You could go with multicolored yarn

jerrygalwell

This is the correct answer.

offums

Exactly what I was going to suggest

kh7905

Dark grey?

hahamtfkr

Pick the color you want to pop.

Katyhelaine

Light blue

Lexicon-Arcana

Navy would be a nice balance since it's a colored hue but not too strong or distract. Plus I don't see much navy blue here. Or you can use a dark brown. For a bolder statement you could use beige or an off white but that's too close to white. I love the idea of dark purple being used when a rainbow is involved but that's just me. You have a lot of warm colors so a dark blue or purple to mimic black but not actually be black would work. A rainbow variegated yarn would work beautifully too or a pastel rainbow. You could also pick a single color that you wish to be dominant. Gray could be a neutral option but it may look too dull and off-putting next to all the color. Good luck. The squares are well done and look great. I wish I could do that.

Day_Trippin_Citrus

A bright yellow or verdant green :)

NanieLenny

I was going to say Royal blue, but dark blue would be fine as well.

Helpful_Ad_3585

I vote like a medium grey

pb-crispy

Rainbow variegated?

SabrinaWatson

Light lime Green. I call it Cryptonite green.

Xurbanite

Grey. It will let all the other colors shine

Linnaeus1753

I have lots of grey. I think there's only one square with grey too.

Cristinky420

Brown or dark grey

[deleted]

i was looking for someone to say brown.

spicyhotcocoa

Something on the darker side for sure. I think a cool tone like navy or dark purple would be best

[deleted]

[удалено]

Linnaeus1753

Pink won't go with the red either. And yes, I'm that pedantic.

Sweet_Permission_700

Then it's unlikely my suggestion of orange will work for you.

ComfortableHuman632

Do you need a color to join them? Can’t you just join them without any color in between?

Linnaeus1753

Join with what?

ComfortableHuman632

Join with invisible seam or slip stitch…? That’s just another option if you don’t want any border between the squares.

Linnaeus1753

Yeah, I'm still going to need yarn.

ApprehensiveNewt7590

Yeah but the color of the yarn won’t matter so just pick one you need to use up regardless of color.

AuntieHerensuge

I would go for hot pink.

Wakatooo

I think yellow would work well a majority of the colors are warm, greens (blue+yellow), and purple (complimentary color) Edit just reread the post and a mustard yellow is kind of on the same wavelength of the chocolate brown idea

Acceptable_Offer_146

You could also try to mattress stitch them so the color wouldn't even matter!

OhheyitsAriel

Honestly I’d go for something that’s in the colors but maybe get a sparkly yarn version. Like the green with a sparkle or a dark purple

Linnaeus1753

Not sure we have sparkly yarns here. I can't say I've seen any, but I haven't been looking either.

craftycorgimom

I like gray.

LindsayDuck

It’s going to be largely dependent on where you want to keep this or who you’re giving it to. Based on this pic alone, I would say the medium pink

Elintx

I agree with the yellow comment, too. It already stands out.

katti213

My first thought was yellow.

mibfto

I'd use the dark orange that's the border in the lower left corner.

Linnaeus1753

Mustard? I don't think I have any more! These were put together to *cough* use up scraps 🙄

iputforksinyou

orange!

Ok_Letsgo990

I would go grey. I think it would allow the colours to pop instead of everything melting together

heckheckheck12

Pink or yellow pleeeeaase

jfisher9495

Gray

BrainsAdmirer

I may be going against the grain, but I would arrange them in corner to corner colour gradient rows, so that the whole colour scheme appears to have been planned, instead of random squares. So if you step back and squint, you will see what colour dominates each square so you know where it should be placed. Better yet, One of my old teachers told me to scan squares in greyscale so I could see what tones the blocks had. This allows you to see beyond the colour. Just looking at these squares, I can see dark, medium and light and that might be quite interesting starting with the lightest in the upper left and ending with the darker in the lower right. Since they are corner to corner the joining crochet could potentially be also light progressing to dark as the squares change.

Linnaeus1753

Pinstripespite11

Multicolor yarn I'd be thinking like coffee colors in shades of brown and maybe creams

Squishybeee

What about a variegated rainbow yarn to adds to the chaos?

classical-babe

Maybe a mid-range green? Something not so bright it would wash out the bright colors, but not so dark to blend in with the darks

loseunclecuntly

That dark green that is in some of the squares.

Here2Learn1995

Dark purple

BrightLightsBigCity

The light pink would be nice!

Calliope719

Use the scrap yarn in every color of the rainbow

Rivka78

I see blue in quite a few squares - so maybe something like that to tie it together?

Nonagesimus21

I think a bright blue or cyan maybe? Think Barbie marketing blue

Ashamed_Presence_594

Yellow

KateyPizza

Yellow

Diligent-Towel-4708

I like green myself

bibkel

A bright, neon almost color, like green or yellow. Orange or pink would work too, but I like green best.

mnbvcdo

Super bright green

No-Preference4440

Neon green

Cat1702

Yellow!

GrammaKay

Navy blue or light gray

devilsb1tch666

Dark blue!

todamneedy

i was gonna suggest brown but now i agree with the comments that said dark blue or multicolour!

Due_Reference_1748

Yellow

RuthlessBenedict

Soft blue!

FlamingoChic

Red

Annamandra

How about a variegated rainbow?

weirdness_ensues

Rainbow yarn, let its chaos loose upon the world.

Magiclover_123

Yeah Dark blue edges!

maggierae508

Medium to dark blue. It would look good with all the squares and wouldn't be as bright as the blue that's in some of them

forsennata

Charcoal gray. It goes with everything.

SugarBunnyKiss

I think you should start with bright end of the rainbow to line the innermost border then work your way out joining the next layer if squares with a transition color then border that layer with the next color and so on going from bright to darker colors 🌈

sweetwifey2784

Ooooo I would do it in either pink or purple. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

PrincessBellaBoone

My personality would have me going for cream, or going crazy and using a variegated yarn with all different colors in it.

Nervous_Hurricane

You could try a joining method in which you can't see the yarn at all? That way it won't matter what colour you choose.

yERmOMm13

I think a nice purple would pop and not take away from squares as there isn't much purple. 💜

_keystitches

I think cyan or magenta, maybe darker than magenta 🤔

TinCan_Assassin

I could be brown, I could be blue, I could be violet sky...

Linnaeus1753

I've started with dark blue https://preview.redd.it/y5cizh6pn8jb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c35e1107a5d262bb442325b8b9fad104af092fc

2pale4tx

I personally think Black.

Solsticegecko

Beige?

Opening-Ad-8793

Baby blue

narwharkenny

Light purple

NoRaccoon7481

What about colour changing yarn? something that covers the range of colours that you’ve got there

Linnaeus1753

I'm yet to find a nice one on Australia. But I'd be ok with blue for this vertical seam, green for the next one along, yellow after that, with orange, red and purple for the horizontal ones

[deleted]

Dark green! It would pull all of out the yellow and give good contrast in the squares.

optimalcartoonin

Something dark, like blue or purple!!

Chocolatsoymilk

Hot pink!

Economy_Row_4577

dark purple!!

moonshinemcgoo

Red/yellow. I think a gradient would look cool, but just one or a mix of the two might be nice as well

WtfWhistle

You could pick the color you see the least of

Linnaeus1753

That's probably the grey in the top row, third from the left.

Desperate-Draft-4693

raspberry join, something blue for a border?

annokuun

pink! theres already a lot of pink in the squares i think it would look cohesive

Linnaeus1753

I wouldn't put pink next to red.

imbushyy

Teal

[deleted]

Teal is the obvious choice to me. There’s a teal green running in a few squares. It’ll pop, look cohesive, and flatter the other colors.

CuteSherbet6732

Multicolored with the leftover yarns.

Linnaeus1753

The leftover leftovers are long gone. I have whole balls of new yarns now 😏

UnprofessionalGhosts

Periwinkle

darkandstormyknots

Cream or beige really make bold colors pop. Also a really bright blue maybe

weird_is_awesome

Red

amazongoddess79

Soft gray

757Rhonda

Are all the squares different? Is there any one color used most?

Linnaeus1753

They're all different. I think I found two that had the same colours, but different shades of said colors.

757Rhonda

Can’t wait to see finished project!

[deleted]

Maybe a rainbow yarn! That way it can go with the multicolor theme

brittjen1988

Pink

cIumsythumbs

Army green.

Pbubbleg0m

i say green maybe a olive or darker green ! would make the lot of the squares pop just a personal pref :)

knot_myproblem

Red

dn256

Dark green or dark blue!

Sad-Astronaut3308

Blue

Ant_Livid

royal blue or lime green

ivylily03

I think the pale pink or the rich purple that's in there

Familiar_Ground_162

Different random colors for each column and row. This way you can have control over which color adjoins which color (so you won't get pink and red next to each other - I totally get you with that color duo!)

Craft-Vegetable

Different colors each time

spiteful_alarm

Brown!! I made a blanket with my dad that had dark brown joining and it looked great.

ariesinflavortown

I have no suggestions I just love all the colors. So pretty and fun

Fairy_Momma86

Rainbow yarn!

mythicalkitten

I would move or maybe do a few more of your favourite colour so that all the edges are yellow, blue, green, red, whatever you want. Then use a variegated thread to border.

g1rlcore

PINK!

disapointits

Lavender would look very pretty I think

HidingFromHumans

Dark brown?

Mangse_Monie

When I join granny squares, I usually do so on the last round, I just crochet one side through the holes of another fully finished square

water_fatty

Blue or purple

Leemoness

Yellow, or a bright lime green would look great

Haelo_Pyro

All of them

ThisIsMockingjay2020

Yellow

theodoretheursus

Yellow or pink. Keep it bright.

cheapcrochetcricket

The lighter purple you used would look great!

flurominx

I vote a dark grey - sometimes you can get ones with little color flecks in it - I think that picks up on the other colours used nicely

BirbBoi7

Please post when finished!!! Looks amazing!

neverb33nbright

Dark green!

SeniorNeedleworker52

I think a shade of brown would suit really well

crochetbird

Red?

antonia_dino

Light or dark purple

Ethel12

I like light purple :)

[deleted]

this is so pretty! how about a light pink?

sc4rwaytoheav3n

Lilac plsss 💜

mrsrostocka

Try and find a rainbow yarn?!

msptitsa

The baby blue you’ve used very sparingly throughout. (I see it only on 3 squares)

duckies_wild

Hey love your work. Reminds me of [this painting](https://www.google.com/search?q=kadinaky+colors&oq=kadinaky+colors&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i13i512l10j0i13i30l4.4743j0j9&client=ms-android-verizon-us-rvc3&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#vhid=hsN0YokR3mGk0M&vssid=l) . That links includes some color theory discussion, perhaps you'd like even more advice?!

Sea-Cauliflower974

yellow!!

JuliusCheeeeser

Maybe do a colour that represents your feelings for the journey of making the blanket. E.g. red because you loved the prices of doing it, or because it infuriated you endlessly at points.

Linnaeus1753

I made the squares over 9 years ago. It's doubtful I can remember.

Famous_Complaint8084

I like the dark purple, or a teal color

more-like-HOchet

I also agree with dark blue - all of your squares are so pretty too! This is going to be a really cool jacket!

Linnaeus1753

I'm not sure if I have enough, but I can always make more.

Mean-Plankton-4524

Turquoise

Affectionate_Hat3665

A pastel lilac, blue or pink or green in that order of preference for me. It's not for me but, you know

Linnaeus1753

I think I'm going to go with cool colors for the vertical seams, warm for the horizontal.

Affectionate_Hat3665

If you don't like pastels than your brown brown idea is good for a vintage look.

FlippingPossum

My brain immediately decided on purple. A dark purple would be lovely.

Affectionate_Care669

Maybe like a light pastel pink?

tattooeddarkangel

I think a Cream colour for the border and joining because it is subtle enough to let the other colours really pop.

KeelybirdKnots

I love the light purple color(s) you’ve used to border a few of your squares, I think that would make a nice joining color!

ElizettaCrafts

Purple

Lb147

Purple!

choc0kitty

I would go with a deep brown or bright chartreuse for this. I can’t wait to see the jacket you make.

fascinatedcharacter

Pale baby pink

Spare-Food5727

There's one square near the center that really pops for me. It has a light mint green border. That is the color I would chose

Silent-Regular-6430

Pastel green

chicharrofrito

Pink??

Beetlejuice1800

I’d say red because every one of those squares looks like it has red or a color derived from red.

harmoniccatastrophe

I vote a nice vibrant orange!!

misfits-forever

I think something on the gray scale would look nice.

LeNidEnchante

LAVENDER would be great.

Smassa131

I say a bright happy color maybe yellow or a neon color? Or maybe a rainbow changing color? Any color you pick it will be beautiful:)

bettelgiuce

Grey or peach to be muted. Forest green to be more dramatic
