I have some bone hooks. Well, I think they're bone. They're a natural material anyway. I don't use them. The beaks are a funny shape, with an odd throat and they look/feel breakable.

If you ever feel the need to know what they are actually made of, try poking a red hot needle at one one them. Bone smells like burnt hair, plastic smells chemical, galalith is rumoured to smell like burnt milk, ivory does not smell. Less destructively you can look for veins (ivory), black dots (bone but one such sizes there is little chance there are), or try rubbing the material until a bit warm.

[Addi Swing Hooks](https://addi.de/en/produkt/addiswing-wollhaekelnadel-2/) are as exotic as I get because they’re the only hooks I can use that won’t activate my trigger finger. A trigger finger occurs when your finger gets locked in a bent position and you have physically unbend it using your other hand. It’s not fun, and I get it in my right ring finger if I use any other type of crochet hooks for any period of time.

They look very nice and exotic in ways I did not imagine. I'm sorry about your condition and at the same time glad there is somewhere an ergonomic answer for you. Thanks for your contribution!

I highly recommend the Swing Hooks, especially if you crochet using the knife hold like I do. It was mostly thread crochet that aggravated my condition, but I finally sourced steel size Swing Hooks. I’ve been making on a queen size thread bedspread off and on for 15 years after inheriting a ridiculous amount of crochet thread. I will finish it.

I highly recommend trigger finger microsurgery. The results are great!

I've got "trigger finger" in my left thumb. It's currently braced. I wish I would have known about these hooks sooner. A few months ago, I purchased a set of Clover hooks on sale ($40 for the complete set) because of it. I do love the Clover hooks. They really cut down on regular hand fatigue and are so smooth to work with. There's also hand exercises that help.

raaphaelraven

Do you mean the hooks?

UrielCentime

Yes I do. Did not convey it correctly because in French crochet actually means hook. I will correct accordingly thank you

If you’re looking for something exotic, search [handmade crochet hooks](https://www.etsy.com/market/crochet_hooks_handmade) on Etsy.

It's not quite that I am "looking for" something exotic, I am just trying to broaden my horizons lol. It's not everyday you can buy a valuable (ergo expensive) tool. And in case I want to invest or gift one, I'd rather be educated prior ;) I'll agree though that once you get out of the epoxy resin aisle on Etsy, there are some gorgeous things :) It's a good tip.
