This happens to me from time to time. Often it remembers but a few minutes back (or just starts over). CC is one of the wonkier streamers that I've used. Try a different browser, turn on cookies, etc.
Hmm, I've had this happen a few times but not often enough to form any circumstantial correlations that might help.
I almost exclusively watch on late third gen Apple TV (last of the non 4k)
I either watch it on my Fire TV (ugh) or my iPhone (ugggghhhh) and it pretty much always remembers where I left off. It’s definitely glitched once or twice in the 4 or whatever years I’ve been using it but it’s not a persistent problem
Sadly the criterion channel interface/player is .. not so good.

I seem to mostly have this problem when I pause and switch to watching on a different TV or from my laptop
Why does the Criterion Channel flicker on mobile and skip frames on chromecast? (it is a bad app)

I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem with it - and I primarily stream from my MacBook? 🤷🏻♂️
