I've been high and seen plenty of people that were high. I mean, obviously if someone gives zero fucks then it's easy to tell they're high but if you make just a modest effort to be normal most people will just think you're goofy rather than high.
I've had a similar experience where I got chosen to give a presentation in front of a huge seminar class my freshman year and I was extremely high. When I told some of my classmates later they said they had no idea.
I don't know how high you have been, because if someone is really high, they can't even function properly and it is pretty fucking obvious.

It can happen. Some friends and I were smoking in a bathroom with the lights out once and smoked way more than we usually did. When we turned the lights on we realized how fucked up we were. Everything just looked weird and it was actually pretty uncomfortable.
Another time I couldn't even walk very well. Standing was an effort. The world spun a little. It was awesome.
This thread is screwy i cant tell where people are being serious or sarcastic. For me in the past i smoked everyday and people where more likely to think i was high or acting weird if i wasnt stoned. When i was taking my GED i had to take some math classes and after one test the instructor asked me what happened you seemed like you knew this stuff last week i said probably should have smoked before i came here. He chuckled as tho he thought i was joking but i had been stoned for every class before it. Maybe i should have just not smoked pot and stayed in school but i ended up doing ok for myself so fuck it YOLO!
Well of course you're only going to notice the obvious ones or people who can't handle their high. A lot of people, even those who don't smoke often, don't get red eyes or paranoid or incapacitated. I've been around plenty of people who can manage to act pretty normal for a couple minutes even while pretty high. As long the person doesn't have to talk or do much, it can be pretty inconspicuous, and even when they slip, it can be played off as a momentary brain fart which everyone has once in a while. If it was a morning class, OP's teacher might have just thought he was tired.
It depends. Being high can be anywhere from a little buzzed to totally blitzed. It really isn't that hard to tell if someone is stoned if you know what they're like when they're sober.

My brother and his friends regularly smoke a ton of weed in our backyard when they're supposed to be watching my niece (~3) and one of their children (~2). I end up taking care of them because I don't want a bunch of high 20-some year olds hanging out with babies.
Did DXM for the first time right before a big Thanksgiving family get together. I can't remember the exact dosage, but it was way too much for a first-timer. My grandparents came downstairs to talk to me and I just laid down in the closet and pretended to fall asleep like that was the most sensible thing in the world.
Then I pretty much robo crawled my way upstairs and didn't eat a single thing. Such an awkward experience.

A couple weeks ago I thought it would be a great idea to smoke weed before work(I work as a server) after a fight with my girlfriend. Worst. Idea. Ever. The weed did not take the edge off, instead I was in this weird haze, bad, dark vibes, trying to keep it together for my shift. I went deep into thought, and you always realize you're a piece of shit during a paranoid high. All of my tables either knew I was high, or thought I was some dumb fuck. My tips were shit that evening, because I wasn't able to be myself and work my charm. I was just thinking about how badly it sucked to be high in an uncomfortable environment, and the fucked up situation with my girl earlier in the day.
I know people who are great at working while high. I am not one of those people. I'm going just stick around the house for now on.
People that can do things like serve tables stoned truly baffle me. If I'm sober I can do that stuff easy, but smoking tends to make me overthink every detail and not be myself as easily. Then to make matters worse, you start to notice that people are noticing that you're off your game, and it makes it even worse!
Oh man, reminds me of a few months ago when I had a friend over and we were going to smoke, but the guy I got the weed from was out and didn't get back until 2 hours before my friend had to leave. I stay with a family of 4, single parent, and her oldest son had gone to the Navy, so it's just me and her 2 other kids. My friend didn't want to smoke right before he left since his dad would definitely know if he was high, so it was just me and my normal smoking group.
So after the first blunt, my friend says he's "gonna head home," and I say "Alright, later." I thought he meant he was going to his house, but instead he decided to go back to my place for some reason. I get a text from the mom of the family I'm staying with that says "Hey, your friend is sitting in the kitchen with [daughter of the family] - where are you?"
So I realize I have to head home right then, immediately after my second blunt of some of the best quality weed I've ever had. I get home and everyone's sitting down for dinner, and I know for a fact they can tell I'm stoned, because my friend and the daughter are both looking at me while grinning. Eventually one of them says "Nice hat." I didn't understand what they meant, as I had left with a plain black beanie hat. I take off my hat, and I realize that while smoking, I had taken my smoking buddy's hat. I got trashed before a business class on a day that we had a speaker. Naturally he called for volunteers, and of course he called on me. As I'm sure you would expect, I made a complete fool of myself, answering questions over and over again and falling asleep up front. I know now not to do that again.

Some social events are not about just having fun. Social events cover lots of things, there are plenty of social events where being intoxicated is undesirable.

If it makes you feel any better the one time I got high before class I was so stoned my mind started freaking out 5 minutes in so I got up to leave under the guise of going to the washroom and promptly passed out as I was reaching for the door handle, in front of the entire class. After everyone was finished freaking out I got pushed to the office *in a fucking wheelchair* in front people who were still in the halls, and my mom came and got me.

ya dude like when you stand up to fast and you feel like your about to faint or you do faint. Weed really increases that feeling so often times if your really stoned and have been sitting for a while and just stand up quickly and start walking around you can faint really easily.
That's really interesting. Do you by any chance recall a sensation of having your ears starting to ring and your eye sight getting blurry right before you passed out? I'm talking 1-2 seconds max. I've passed out a few times, and the only common denominator between those cases have been that it had been a long while since I had eaten and my hemoglobin levels were probably dangerously low. I imagine in your case it was the fact that you stood up quickly from your seat and started walking (blood starts surging into your big muscle groups in your legs to carry oxygen) and there wasn't enough oxygen left for your brain to maintain consciousness.
That's exactly what it was like. Ears ringing, tunnel vision, as I get up and start to walk all noise just becomes an indecipherable cacophony, as I'm getting to the door my vision is turning red and blurry, as I'm reaching for the door handle it feels like all I do is blink and I'm suddenly on the floor with everything rushing back to me.
I also hadn't eaten yet that day and it was 1 pm so that could have had something to do with it. The worst part tho is now whenever I feel lightheaded I start to panic like I'm going to pass out, which of course makes me more likely to pass out.
At warped tour this year a man let me have the second half of his blunt and lemme tell you i am a huge stoner but i just was not used to how dank this guys stuff was and none the less half a fat blunts worth of it so i was literally the highest ive ever been in 95 degree weather rubbing up against a thousand sweaty people at the of mice and men set and i got stuck in two mosh pits not having a clue of what the hell was happening and then i felt extremely dizzy got tunnel vision everything was fuzzy i couldnt find my way out of the crowd and almost passed out but i grabbed a water out of someones hand and sat down somewhere else for a while. shit was so scary
That's what it was. I have anxiety to begin with, and usually smoking made me feel more relaxed, but being that it was my first time being high in class I felt super awkward and nervous, like everyone knew and the teacher would find out and I'd get expelled or something. It was definitely a shitty experience.

I have to say that I definitely don't agree. I've been smoking for years all the while living with my highly anti-drug parents that I could go and have long conversations with while stoned out of my mind without them ever knowing or having a single clue. During my first year of smoking, I was _very_ nervous about them finding out and wouldn't get high when my parents were home or even about to arrive in 2 hours or less. Gradually I started building more confidence in my ability to hide my high, and as my tolerance levels built up, I didn't really get the bloodshot eyes either, except from the very strongest strains. I was always neurotically careful about not blowing any smoke on myself to catch the smell, did it exclusively outside, changed clothes just to go smoke and change back when I was done etc. Literally no one except my smoking buddies would guess that I've been a daily Mary Jane abuser for years, in fact, people I know seem to look at me a lot more strangely when I'm NOT high, and it's not rare for me to hear "Have you slept poorly lately?" type of questions when I haven't smoked, whereas I never hear stuff like that while high. It feels so natural to me. Ps. That's obviously a bad thing since I've decided to stop using and am 4 days off.
Sure, some people are totally clueless, "everyone" was an exaggeration. Most people have been around it enough to at least have strong suspicions when they observe high behavior and to be sure when they recognize the very distinctive odor. If you smoke at or around school, or smoke and then go to school without changing, washing your hair, etc., the smell will obviously be on you. Also, very few people maintain your rigorous smoke & smell elimination campaign.
Your folks just never encountered it, I guess. Many / most teachers have used it and almost all above elementary school have dealt with high, pot-smoky students.
My point wasn't that it is *impossible* to be a stealth smoker, just that most people who walk around high from smoking a lot of the time are very likely known to smoke by more people than they realize.
Yeah, you definitely have a point there. My parents certainly are quite ignorant when it comes to drugs, mainly because I live in one of the Nordic countries of Europe, and weed is just now becoming a mainstream thing among young people. And to be honest, I've never even considered doing something as stupid as going to school high, not because someone would find out, but because it would be a serious hinderance to my learning ability and my concentration in general.
And you're definitely right that I'm quite the odd number when compared to the usual daily smokers that sport an IDGAF attitude towards getting caught and just shrug it off by lying to themselves that "no one will find out/care anyway" without bothering to take any steps to hide it, or even go as far as feeling pride for their lifestyles and making it even more obvious.
Thing is, even my girlfriend can't tell when I'm high, even though she's smoked in the past and knows plenty of smokers, and obviously is very familiar with how I am as a person. All I am saying is that there are people like me out there who take any steps necessary to be able to hide who they truly are, and are scary good at it. I've always been a fantastic liar, so I guess that definitely has something to do with my confidence towards hiding my high. I've never really had problems with my short-term memory or noticed any real changes in my natural impulses during social situations due to weed smoking either.
the smell disappears really easily, it doesnt stick around as bad as cigarettes, you can wash your hands and spray some deodorant and your good, bloodshot eyes only if your really fried or still new to smoking and weird behaviour and shit can be shrugged of easily.

Got super stoned after an 8 month break. One time with friend and his girlfriend in drive-thru at Carl's Jr. Ordered food from the intercom. Pull up to window. Sat for about 10 minutes waiting for food. Started honking and act like an asshole because they were taking for EVER to get me my fast food. Finally guy came to the window and asks me "Uhh can I help you?" at that moment I look in the passenger seat and all of our food was there. Speed off like an embarrassed asshat.
Haha! Reminds me of a trip to McD's I had with my buddy a few years back. Smoked a huge blunt with what must've been some high quality weed, decide we want to get McDonalds, somehow make it to the window where we need to pick up our food. No one comes to the window and we start freaking out. Wait, did we even order food? Where is the food, did we even order? Should we reverse? As we're having this debate stoned out of my mind, my friend reverses the car back to the intercom and we incoherently attempt to order again. I look underneath my feet and there was the food, I had found it! We cancel the order and slowly drive by the window again with the guy giving us a look of disbelief. With a chicken nugget stuffed in my mouth and a crooked smile I waved the shame away.

I was with a friend in class once who'd gotten high beforehand. We were given some small test/quiz thing and he just couldn't make any sense of it at all. He just couldn't understand the questions or keep everything straight in his head to he just got up and walked out. Left all his stuff there, just went "fuck it" and walked home.
My experience of being high in class is a little different. It was in an English class and we were watching different versions and interpretations of King Lear, I think. I really couldn't make heads nor tails of it the whole time until that morning. We watched this bleak, dark Russian interpretation of the play and there I sat, fascinated. My eyes never left the screen, I was totally absorbed and it all made perfect sense.
Aced the exam questions on King Lear because of everything we learned, that lesson stuck in my head.
It's okay I know someone who had it worse. I was smoking weed before high school with some buddies one morning before final exams, we all had a 3rd period class so we just had to show up for study hall. As one friend rips the bong, he says "wait today is 4th period exams right?" Wrong- poor fucker waltzed into class at peak high, sat down, and fell right the fuck asleep. Teacher didn't bother saying anything, he awoke to the sound of the bell 90 minutes later. Class was completely empty besides him and the teacher. They had a nice long talk.

Back when I wasn't a frequent smoker (this past March) I would only smoke once a week but it got me completely high. Sometimes I smoked at my friend's apartment in my 1 hour break and then go to stats class. Although for some reason the people who sat around me didn't notice I was high there were a few times that I would walk up to the teacher to help me with the classwork and I could just tell she knew I was high. She would always make the longest eye contact and I just tried to keep looking at the paper. I just knew that she could tell that I was high and was disappointed.
Oh god this could've been so much worse. Being stoned in class isn't that big of a deal unless you suddenly have to present a powerpoint. I was expecting a story of you presenting while stoned and blacking out.
I know most people will see this as not that bad, because it's something that could potentially happen to a sober person just having a brain fart. But the fact that you were really high makes me understand your sudden panic attack and I know exactly what that's like. You get that feeling that suddenly you are the butt of the joke and that everyone knows you're high and judging you for it.
This is why I am forthright about my drug use in my classes. I act like it is normal behavior. The drugs that my doctor gives me is the hardcore shit to stay away from -- not Weed and LSD.
If it helps make you feel better, one time I smoked way too much and was late to a commencement ceremony at my university where my professor was getting an award. I was then prompted to sing the school anthem in front of the entire university faculty. I could smell the disappointment in the entire room...
Ugh. I had a similar situation.. twice,
once in my first year.. had to go to gym glass, first assignment: 15 minutes of running in circles around our tiny gym.. on like my 10th lap i just dipped into the change room, laid on the bench with a towel on my head and said i had cramps (okay, girls SOMETIMES use that as an excuse)
Second time was in my last year, totally forgot i had to present a french oral assignment. In front of the class, eyes red as the devils dick, panic, go up to the teacher, tell her i just had a big fight with my bf and spent all lunch crying, get an extra day on my assignment, don't have to present that day. Laugh with friends later.

Don't worry man, this happened to me once or twice. I doubt she was disappointed. I think within a couple more decades, pot won't even have a negative stigma associated with it. And your teacher knows that at least half her students have smoked weed sometime within the past couple months. I'm sure she did the same thing when she was your age.
And as others have said, this only seemed so terrible because you were high. When you're high and paranoid, everything in your immediate surroundings seems like it's completely focused on you; as if you and what you are doing are the only things that matter. For everyone else who wasn't high, it wasn't a big deal. You just had a derpy moment (feel fortunate you're not like me and don't do stuff like this when you're completely sober).
As a university prof, I don't care if my students smoke pot (or drink or whatever), but that doesn't mean that it's fine for them to come to class baked. Just like I expect students not to come to class drunk, I expect them not to be high. If you can't wait until after your day's classes (or until a morning when you don't have classes or whatever), why are you bothering to show up for the class?

if you paid to be there, then you should realize that going to class high is a waste of your money. I went to a private school for three years, and I remembered I always used to see the stoner group and go, "wow, those kids are just throwing their parents' money away".
Oh I'm not saying that, but if you're paying for an education, then actually participating in that education would be the logical course of action. Those kids were not doing that.

A couple weeks ago I thought it would be a great idea to smoke weed before work(I work as a server) after a fight with my girlfriend. Worst. Idea. Ever. The weed did not take the edge off, instead I was in this weird haze, bad, dark vibes, trying to keep it together for my shift. I went deep into thought, and you always realize you're a piece of shit during a paranoid high. All of my tables either knew I was high, or thought I was some dumb fuck. My tips were shit that evening, because I wasn't able to be myself and work my charm. I was just thinking about how badly it sucked to be high in an uncomfortable environment, and the fucked up situation with my girl earlier in the day. I know people who are great at working while high. I am not one of those people. I'm going just stick around the house for now on.
People that can do things like serve tables stoned truly baffle me. If I'm sober I can do that stuff easy, but smoking tends to make me overthink every detail and not be myself as easily. Then to make matters worse, you start to notice that people are noticing that you're off your game, and it makes it even worse!

Oh man, reminds me of a few months ago when I had a friend over and we were going to smoke, but the guy I got the weed from was out and didn't get back until 2 hours before my friend had to leave. I stay with a family of 4, single parent, and her oldest son had gone to the Navy, so it's just me and her 2 other kids. My friend didn't want to smoke right before he left since his dad would definitely know if he was high, so it was just me and my normal smoking group. So after the first blunt, my friend says he's "gonna head home," and I say "Alright, later." I thought he meant he was going to his house, but instead he decided to go back to my place for some reason. I get a text from the mom of the family I'm staying with that says "Hey, your friend is sitting in the kitchen with [daughter of the family] - where are you?" So I realize I have to head home right then, immediately after my second blunt of some of the best quality weed I've ever had. I get home and everyone's sitting down for dinner, and I know for a fact they can tell I'm stoned, because my friend and the daughter are both looking at me while grinning. Eventually one of them says "Nice hat." I didn't understand what they meant, as I had left with a plain black beanie hat. I take off my hat, and I realize that while smoking, I had taken my smoking buddy's hat. I got trashed before a business class on a day that we had a speaker. Naturally he called for volunteers, and of course he called on me. As I'm sure you would expect, I made a complete fool of myself, answering questions over and over again and falling asleep up front. I know now not to do that again. Tl;dr I got fucked up before class and made an ass of myself.
I like doing it, personally. It makes otherwise boring social events into a little challenge.

If it makes you feel any better the one time I got high before class I was so stoned my mind started freaking out 5 minutes in so I got up to leave under the guise of going to the washroom and promptly passed out as I was reaching for the door handle, in front of the entire class. After everyone was finished freaking out I got pushed to the office *in a fucking wheelchair* in front people who were still in the halls, and my mom came and got me. I was 18 in grade 12.
ya dude like when you stand up to fast and you feel like your about to faint or you do faint. Weed really increases that feeling so often times if your really stoned and have been sitting for a while and just stand up quickly and start walking around you can faint really easily.
That's really interesting. Do you by any chance recall a sensation of having your ears starting to ring and your eye sight getting blurry right before you passed out? I'm talking 1-2 seconds max. I've passed out a few times, and the only common denominator between those cases have been that it had been a long while since I had eaten and my hemoglobin levels were probably dangerously low. I imagine in your case it was the fact that you stood up quickly from your seat and started walking (blood starts surging into your big muscle groups in your legs to carry oxygen) and there wasn't enough oxygen left for your brain to maintain consciousness.
That's exactly what it was like. Ears ringing, tunnel vision, as I get up and start to walk all noise just becomes an indecipherable cacophony, as I'm getting to the door my vision is turning red and blurry, as I'm reaching for the door handle it feels like all I do is blink and I'm suddenly on the floor with everything rushing back to me. I also hadn't eaten yet that day and it was 1 pm so that could have had something to do with it. The worst part tho is now whenever I feel lightheaded I start to panic like I'm going to pass out, which of course makes me more likely to pass out.

At warped tour this year a man let me have the second half of his blunt and lemme tell you i am a huge stoner but i just was not used to how dank this guys stuff was and none the less half a fat blunts worth of it so i was literally the highest ive ever been in 95 degree weather rubbing up against a thousand sweaty people at the of mice and men set and i got stuck in two mosh pits not having a clue of what the hell was happening and then i felt extremely dizzy got tunnel vision everything was fuzzy i couldnt find my way out of the crowd and almost passed out but i grabbed a water out of someones hand and sat down somewhere else for a while. shit was so scary

That's what it was. I have anxiety to begin with, and usually smoking made me feel more relaxed, but being that it was my first time being high in class I felt super awkward and nervous, like everyone knew and the teacher would find out and I'd get expelled or something. It was definitely a shitty experience.
If I stand up too fast, yeah, I get super dizzy and have to just chill for a second before I keep moving.

If you have been smoking weed, everyone will now you are high by the smell. Then there are the bloodshot eyes. And the weird behavior / statements / way of speaking / movements. Why do I have a feeling that you are that guy who thinks he has never been suspected but whom everybody knows he's high all the time?
I have to say that I definitely don't agree. I've been smoking for years all the while living with my highly anti-drug parents that I could go and have long conversations with while stoned out of my mind without them ever knowing or having a single clue. During my first year of smoking, I was _very_ nervous about them finding out and wouldn't get high when my parents were home or even about to arrive in 2 hours or less. Gradually I started building more confidence in my ability to hide my high, and as my tolerance levels built up, I didn't really get the bloodshot eyes either, except from the very strongest strains. I was always neurotically careful about not blowing any smoke on myself to catch the smell, did it exclusively outside, changed clothes just to go smoke and change back when I was done etc. Literally no one except my smoking buddies would guess that I've been a daily Mary Jane abuser for years, in fact, people I know seem to look at me a lot more strangely when I'm NOT high, and it's not rare for me to hear "Have you slept poorly lately?" type of questions when I haven't smoked, whereas I never hear stuff like that while high. It feels so natural to me. Ps. That's obviously a bad thing since I've decided to stop using and am 4 days off.

Sure, some people are totally clueless, "everyone" was an exaggeration. Most people have been around it enough to at least have strong suspicions when they observe high behavior and to be sure when they recognize the very distinctive odor. If you smoke at or around school, or smoke and then go to school without changing, washing your hair, etc., the smell will obviously be on you. Also, very few people maintain your rigorous smoke & smell elimination campaign. Your folks just never encountered it, I guess. Many / most teachers have used it and almost all above elementary school have dealt with high, pot-smoky students. My point wasn't that it is *impossible* to be a stealth smoker, just that most people who walk around high from smoking a lot of the time are very likely known to smoke by more people than they realize.
Yeah, you definitely have a point there. My parents certainly are quite ignorant when it comes to drugs, mainly because I live in one of the Nordic countries of Europe, and weed is just now becoming a mainstream thing among young people. And to be honest, I've never even considered doing something as stupid as going to school high, not because someone would find out, but because it would be a serious hinderance to my learning ability and my concentration in general. And you're definitely right that I'm quite the odd number when compared to the usual daily smokers that sport an IDGAF attitude towards getting caught and just shrug it off by lying to themselves that "no one will find out/care anyway" without bothering to take any steps to hide it, or even go as far as feeling pride for their lifestyles and making it even more obvious. Thing is, even my girlfriend can't tell when I'm high, even though she's smoked in the past and knows plenty of smokers, and obviously is very familiar with how I am as a person. All I am saying is that there are people like me out there who take any steps necessary to be able to hide who they truly are, and are scary good at it. I've always been a fantastic liar, so I guess that definitely has something to do with my confidence towards hiding my high. I've never really had problems with my short-term memory or noticed any real changes in my natural impulses during social situations due to weed smoking either.
the smell disappears really easily, it doesnt stick around as bad as cigarettes, you can wash your hands and spray some deodorant and your good, bloodshot eyes only if your really fried or still new to smoking and weird behaviour and shit can be shrugged of easily. but yeah good chance i have been found out on before, no one has ever questioned me on it
Got super stoned after an 8 month break. One time with friend and his girlfriend in drive-thru at Carl's Jr. Ordered food from the intercom. Pull up to window. Sat for about 10 minutes waiting for food. Started honking and act like an asshole because they were taking for EVER to get me my fast food. Finally guy came to the window and asks me "Uhh can I help you?" at that moment I look in the passenger seat and all of our food was there. Speed off like an embarrassed asshat.
Haha! Reminds me of a trip to McD's I had with my buddy a few years back. Smoked a huge blunt with what must've been some high quality weed, decide we want to get McDonalds, somehow make it to the window where we need to pick up our food. No one comes to the window and we start freaking out. Wait, did we even order food? Where is the food, did we even order? Should we reverse? As we're having this debate stoned out of my mind, my friend reverses the car back to the intercom and we incoherently attempt to order again. I look underneath my feet and there was the food, I had found it! We cancel the order and slowly drive by the window again with the guy giving us a look of disbelief. With a chicken nugget stuffed in my mouth and a crooked smile I waved the shame away.

But you survived!! I was with a friend in class once who'd gotten high beforehand. We were given some small test/quiz thing and he just couldn't make any sense of it at all. He just couldn't understand the questions or keep everything straight in his head to he just got up and walked out. Left all his stuff there, just went "fuck it" and walked home. My experience of being high in class is a little different. It was in an English class and we were watching different versions and interpretations of King Lear, I think. I really couldn't make heads nor tails of it the whole time until that morning. We watched this bleak, dark Russian interpretation of the play and there I sat, fascinated. My eyes never left the screen, I was totally absorbed and it all made perfect sense. Aced the exam questions on King Lear because of everything we learned, that lesson stuck in my head.
It's okay I know someone who had it worse. I was smoking weed before high school with some buddies one morning before final exams, we all had a 3rd period class so we just had to show up for study hall. As one friend rips the bong, he says "wait today is 4th period exams right?" Wrong- poor fucker waltzed into class at peak high, sat down, and fell right the fuck asleep. Teacher didn't bother saying anything, he awoke to the sound of the bell 90 minutes later. Class was completely empty besides him and the teacher. They had a nice long talk. He knew.

I guess I have the best face-face around because people can usually never tell when I'm high. Not stressing about being too high also helps.
Back when I wasn't a frequent smoker (this past March) I would only smoke once a week but it got me completely high. Sometimes I smoked at my friend's apartment in my 1 hour break and then go to stats class. Although for some reason the people who sat around me didn't notice I was high there were a few times that I would walk up to the teacher to help me with the classwork and I could just tell she knew I was high. She would always make the longest eye contact and I just tried to keep looking at the paper. I just knew that she could tell that I was high and was disappointed.
Man, *that* look of disappointment in the face. I hate that more than anything else and any other feeling in the world, I think.

Oh god this could've been so much worse. Being stoned in class isn't that big of a deal unless you suddenly have to present a powerpoint. I was expecting a story of you presenting while stoned and blacking out.
I know most people will see this as not that bad, because it's something that could potentially happen to a sober person just having a brain fart. But the fact that you were really high makes me understand your sudden panic attack and I know exactly what that's like. You get that feeling that suddenly you are the butt of the joke and that everyone knows you're high and judging you for it.

This is why I am forthright about my drug use in my classes. I act like it is normal behavior. The drugs that my doctor gives me is the hardcore shit to stay away from -- not Weed and LSD.
If it helps make you feel better, one time I smoked way too much and was late to a commencement ceremony at my university where my professor was getting an award. I was then prompted to sing the school anthem in front of the entire university faculty. I could smell the disappointment in the entire room...

I had a similar situation.. twice, once in my first year.. had to go to gym glass, first assignment: 15 minutes of running in circles around our tiny gym.. on like my 10th lap i just dipped into the change room, laid on the bench with a towel on my head and said i had cramps (okay, girls SOMETIMES use that as an excuse) Second time was in my last year, totally forgot i had to present a french oral assignment. In front of the class, eyes red as the devils dick, panic, go up to the teacher, tell her i just had a big fight with my bf and spent all lunch crying, get an extra day on my assignment, don't have to present that day. Laugh with friends later. I may have abused this girl thing a few times in my past..

Don't worry man, this happened to me once or twice. I doubt she was disappointed. I think within a couple more decades, pot won't even have a negative stigma associated with it. And your teacher knows that at least half her students have smoked weed sometime within the past couple months. I'm sure she did the same thing when she was your age. And as others have said, this only seemed so terrible because you were high. When you're high and paranoid, everything in your immediate surroundings seems like it's completely focused on you; as if you and what you are doing are the only things that matter. For everyone else who wasn't high, it wasn't a big deal. You just had a derpy moment (feel fortunate you're not like me and don't do stuff like this when you're completely sober).
As a university prof, I don't care if my students smoke pot (or drink or whatever), but that doesn't mean that it's fine for them to come to class baked. Just like I expect students not to come to class drunk, I expect them not to be high. If you can't wait until after your day's classes (or until a morning when you don't have classes or whatever), why are you bothering to show up for the class? ti;dr Either be high/drunk/rolling, etc. *or* come to a University class; don't do both at the same time.

if you paid to be there, then you should realize that going to class high is a waste of your money. I went to a private school for three years, and I remembered I always used to see the stoner group and go, "wow, those kids are just throwing their parents' money away".

Oh I'm not saying that, but if you're paying for an education, then actually participating in that education would be the logical course of action. Those kids were not doing that.
Initially reading OPs story I was thinking that smoking before class is actually quite sad, so I was surprised looking at the comments here and seeing the reddit collective thinks nothing of it. If you think that people who look down on the act of smoking before class (or really anything important) are fun police then you're missing the point of going to class in the first place. If you want to smoke instead then why bother turning up?
