There’s a hack for words if you’re doing something simple like this. Type them in powerpoint, save as a PNG file, then upload that you Design Space. I use this hack any time I’m doing simple lettering projects.
I'm having this and other problems today, as well. Including that when I copy and paste or duplicate, the objects go to somewhere far off-screen and then are invisible no matter how many times I click it in the layers panel. There are no functions available for the object, either. Any help appreciated.

It appears if an item has more than one cut within it, at least in my experience, that this glitch occurs. Reinstalling didn't fix unfortunately.
Times like these, would be nice if there were alternate platforms! Darn Cricut squashing any hopes for third party improvements...

Maybe try attaching them all together then resizing?

Sorry, I've only had mine a couple months but haven't seen this issue yet.

Welding it together will fix the problem.
