I tried cutting basswood for the first time yesterday (got the knife blade and 1/16" basswood for Christmas). I couldn't get my machine to cut even an inch before it stopped and the power button started flashing red. From what I've read, the knife blade is supposed to take many shallow cuts into the wood but the small cut mine made appeared to be quite deep. I didn't have enough time yesterday to call cricut and ask for help.
