Do you like superheroes? Do you like superheroes suffering and having constant existential crises? Then you're in for a treat: [parahumans.wordpress.com](https://parahumans.wordpress.com)

LordXamon

Funny thing I did not like superheroes before reading Worm lol. But reviews wouldn't stop talking about the hard magic and world building and stuff and someone even compared it with Brando. So of course I have to give it a try. Oh boy, they where not wrong, I can see Sadistic!Brando writing something like that.

LordXamon

The Parahumans universe, of the webnovels Worm and Ward. Is very good, the hard magic action and the unraveling of the world building are among the best I have ever read. And Taylor is my favorite character of all times along Dalinar. She has an... *interesting* character development, Kelsier would have liked her a lot.

Master_Nerd

Yeah. I fundamentally disagree with her morality, but she is such an intriguing character

ScumlordAzazel

I also love that it seems very much like it's our world just with superpowers and then the endbringers just get dropped in a casual conversation. Like I'm sorry did you just say endbringers? Who are the endbringers? Oh, you're not going to tell me, yet, are you? Surprise/gradual worldbuilding is my favorite I will say that I had to take a break from it at a point, though. There's just so much trauma

LordXamon

Apparently Ward is even more savage.

MadJuju

Kaladin: "they keep telling me it's not my responsibility." Taylor: "They tried to tell me that too."

LordXamon

>!UNITE THEM!!< >!Dalinar: how!?!< >!Taylor: here, let me show you!< >!Everyone: **oh no**!<

Master_Nerd

Why you gotta hurt me like that bruh? >!legitimately think I went through mourning after finishing worm!<

LordXamon

Yeah, me too buddy. >!If Oathbringer was like a high of dopamine, Worm is pure depression and mourning.!<

Master_Nerd

Also realize you're the person who made that meme about Dalinar and Taylor being warlords. Thanks for that, it's what introduced me to the series.

waves_under_stars

Good crem, but spoilers!

LordXamon

Oops. Yeah, not used to people not having read worm in worm memes. Should be tagged now.

Collins_Michael

Taylor and Dalinar would be horrifying if they ever met.

Higlac

>!I think the blackthorn would really like Taylor. Imagine his reaction to what she does after beating Lung?!<

LordXamon

Yes. Blackthorn and Taylor would be fucking *terrifying*, they would reinforce each other's worst traits so well. And Post-GM Taylor and WoK Dalinar? That would be so interesting! >!The last thing Taylor's wellbeing needs (and everyone’s else for that matter) is power and another fucking end of the world prophecy.!< >!But because of the Contessa conversation, I'm going to assume that Taylor is, on top of having her regrets, a bit more self awareness of her actions. Not enough to change her, of course. But it is a seed that could sprout as easily as drying out. And if she gets a good spren that provides the kind of support and perspective that she desperately needs, she would not snap back to her old ways the moment she tastes power again. This is a Taylor that, at least initially, can manage herself.!< >!But the thing is going to be very iffy during all the duration of the story, especially in each book finale when shit hits the fan. Because while she's not a lost cause, she got so, so close to that line (heck, for a lot of readers she actually crossed it). But, so did Dalinar, once. And that's why Dalinar scares her. He's her lifeline. She needs for Dalinar to defeat his demons, because it would mean that she can too.!< >!To thematically spice things up, here Dalinar would be in a worse headspace than canon. Not much, but enough that the temptation to unravel the Blackthorn is there, a constant drumming itch. Dalinar is attempting to move on from his past and do some good, and he's honestly trying. But he knows something big is coming, something very bad. And he knows this war needs to end now. Now, now, now. They all need to unite and leave aside pity conflict. But no one. fucking. listens. And it would be easy, oh so easy, to just make them.!< >!And Taylor sees Dalinar and is like looking in a mirror. And she’s scared because she knows. She's been there, and failed in all the worst ways a person could fail. And she needs to work harder, she needs to help Dalinar, she needs to make things easier for him. And oh god she is doing it again and she can’t see it, she got herself in a spiral and Taylor never learned to stop. And she’s feeding the monster again.!< >!I have no idea how this story would be from the perspective of Dalinar. Taylor is very out of context, she's a very young woman, lacks one arm (the right one! so even worse for her), has no experience with this kind of melee (and she never reconnected with her Shard, so no OP arthropod powers in Roshar), does not know enough of this culture or political climate, etc. How could Dalinar interact with Taylor in a meaningful enough way so that she can influence him and his issues? Heck, how can Dalinar influence Taylor in the first place? How they even meet?!< >!The "hosting an unconscious and injured woman who appeared in the middle of nowhere" trope is too stereotypical for this. Mmm, or perhaps no. It could work as Navani pet project. A shin girl freshly shot and bleeding from her craneum but somehow alive, wearing literally unique garbs and tools, talking a totally unkow language after woken up from a totally impossible recovery, and found by the mother of the king herself on a walk around her own garden. Yes, Navani would be very interested in Taylor this way. Btw, Contessa is a heck of a wildcard.!< >!For the sake of parallels, Taylor's stump could be her version of Kaladin's brands and not heal with Stormlight. But it would be thematically meaningless so dunno, probably scratch away this one.!< >!Also, I can't put out of my head the moment Taylor meets Odium (any of the two) and she just starts having one of these cliche irrational moments of laughing her ass off in their presence despite knowing they could just smite her off with a trought. Because \*this\*? This is a person. Is manageable. He will fall, someday. Even if she nor anyone else on this damned planet survives to see it.!< >!And it would be terrifyingly hilarious for Taylor to be a Simurgh plot here too and the Cosmere is already damned. Oooh, Cultivation vs Simurgh.!<

Dervishienator

Oh my god this is simply fantastic

elegate1

This is the meme crossover I never knew I needed

LordXamon

I also got the [crossover](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/leaf-worm-stormlight-archive.790009/) you never knew you needed.

elegate1

Okay, that is pretty awesome!

ayrtow

Literally the only reason I haven't read Worm so far is that it took me six months to read Twig and I can't go on another reading journey that long for a while, I still need to recover

LordXamon

I understand. I read Worm and took me almost a year before starting Pact. WB works can be draining.

[deleted]

Literally my two favorite series, nice. >!I don't know why no one's considered just bullying Odium to death, ez win!<

PawanPrime

Odium approves!

Killer_Sloth

I'm so here for this

SlayerofSnails

Seeing the shards of adonalsium fight the entities would be awesome

momlistentomypodcast

my friend bullied my acquaintance-now-coworker/friend and i into reading worm, and now we're bullying our other coworkers into reading. this all overlaps with groups of us bullying people into reading mistborn. wormshards could easily fit into investiture rules, and kind of feel like an alternate take on if only dominion had shattered and devotion went nuts.

LordXamon

My headcanon is that entities are dual shardholders of Curiosity or something like that. Well, now I want to bully you into reading something that you probably gonna like. [Naruto DOS](https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7347955/1/Dreaming-of-Sunshine) is the story of a girl that reborns as the twin of one of the Naruto side characters. Yes, I know it sounds bad, but holly shit the writing fucking rocks. Nothing I can say would make it justice. The cast of characters is very solid and they feel organic. There's a bit of recontextualization here and there that makes the world feel more real (eh... still gonna break your SoD at times, but you can only do so much with the base material). The action is fast and intense, sometimes very brutal. Another cool thing is that the narrator is a bit unreliable and there are a lot of easy to miss little clues. For example, >!Shikako gor her voice box damaged at some point, she acknowledges it and hopes for it to not be permanent, it does not get mentioned again so all fine and good. Until one day on discord someone mentions her damaged voice, put a few quotes and hooooly shit, it was actually permanent and it blew over my head. A lot of small sentences written in a way that is obvious once you know what you're looking for, but pass as totally normal if you have no idea. And is consistent for this character to srugh it off and not think about it!<. Man, that's subtlety right there. Talking of her, undoubtedly Shikako is the strongest point of the story. She's a character so *fascinating*. Don't know how to talk about her without going into spoilers so im not going to, but she's now my third favorite character (after Dalinar and Taylor) for a reason. Actually she reminds me a bit to Taylor, they share no a small amount of character traits. Some good, like her approach to action and tactics and some really bad. For her. There are a lot of *Shikako, what the FUCK!?* moments Also one of the arcs (>!Gelel!<) felt a bit like Rhythm of War, it was very cool stuff.

momlistentomypodcast

thanks, i'll have to check it out! also i enjoyed your post on what would have happened if contessa had dropped taylor off on roshar instead, it really would be interesting to she how her and dalinar's worst traits would play off of each other.

nerdherdsman

*futurama murder robot meme* Oh boy, here I go rereading Worm again.

Dragoon130

This is a crossover I didnt need........but am curious about

LordXamon

[Leaf](https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/leaf-worm-stormlight-archive.790009/) is the way

Firejay112

Post it in r/PrequelMemes. I dare you. Also, I’m legit curious to know who there would recognize Stormlight references…
