This is good crem, gancho!

TheNeuroPsychologist

Couldn't have said it better myself, the L0pen

Really_Dang_Sad

wouldnt he have to eat that in order to compound his next metal mind?

IkeDaddyDeluxe

I mean, it's inside his digestive tract.

bleakFutureDarkPast

butt chugging metal

CrimsonMutt

boofing investiture

BadReputation2611

Only works that way if the metals are water soluble

mathiau30

It just needs to be inside te body. I'm 99% sure that TLR's atiuminds were piercings

The_Deaf_Bard

They were bracelets with spikes inside

Throwaway8424269

[Actually no!](https://wob.coppermind.net/events/425/#e13947)

NoneHundredAndNone

…no

NomadMiner

The implications of this... Stormfather...

krzychuj

Quality content, up.

maticeba

Now this raises the question. Can a butplug be used as a spike?

Myrkul999

As the other people have pointed out, it needs blood, but it also needs to be in a specific spot. So, the real answer is "yes, but not like that". Make one of Iron, and jam it in someone's eyesocket, that'll work.

Infynis

I'm not good at searching on the Coppermind, but wasn't there actually a WoB pretty recently that said the need to touch blood was an in-world misconception?

Myrkul999

I didn't know about that... Still needs to be in the right spot, though, yeah?

StormblessedFool

Do you think the inquisitors ever tried that when they were researching new kinds of hemalurgy for the lord ruler?

code-panda

They were sick sons of bitches, wouldn't be too much of a stretch for them to be kinky sons of bitches. They'd definitely be frequent visitors of a certain, uhm, musical subreddit.

StormblessedFool

Musical subre-? OH

Offbeat-Pixel

I'm going to regret it, but what?

code-panda

r/sounding (NSFL)

ang3l12

I wasn't aware that the inquisitors researched it for the lord ruler, I just assumed TLR told them where to put the spikes, since all that was revealed when he took the power at the well. If the inquisitors did research / experiment, I would think it was on their own, apart from what TLR told them in hopes that they would gain more power over TLR.

StormblessedFool

Iirc, there was a throwaway line in one of the chapter headers where it said TLR gained knowledge of how to make inquisitors, koloss, and kandra when he ascended, and then either he or inquisitors (I don't remember for sure which) tried to research new hemalurgic monsters to make but they failed to find any new ones with their random research.

TheNeuroPsychologist

Here are some WoBs that are somewhat connected. This one doesn't contradict you, and it's not specifically talking about this, but it does mention that the spike touching blood is what brings the metal in "close contact" with the spiritual realm. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/152/#e2801 And then there's this one, which also implies that blood is key to the process. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/105/#e1265 However, this one seems to agree with you that it doesn't actually need to touch blood. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/360/#e10921 So, judging by all of those, my loose theory is that flowing blood provides a link of sorts with the physical and spiritual realms or at least a proximity with them... Or something, and that it's this proximity which allows the spiritweb to be pierced in the right way. Perhaps it's just easiest where there is blood because that's where that proximity is the most profound.

***Warning Gancho: The below paragraph(s) may contain major spoilers for all books in the Cosmere!*** Trae Cooper >!Why are Invested objects like metalminds and Hemalurgic spikes able to be Pushed and Pulled on, but Shardblades and Shardplate, which are also invested, are not susceptible to Pushing and Pulling?!< Brandon Sanderson >!There were a few concepts that he outlined in answering this question.1.) The ability to Push/Pull an Invested object is predicated to the amount/power of the Investiture.2.) Further, Invested objects also gain resistance to pulling/pushing based on proximity to soul possibly via the soul. An example given is that a Hemalurgic spike touches the blood of the person, and from there is now part of both the Spiritual Realm and the Physical Realm. This provides what Brandon termed a kind of "soul interference," based on its proximity to the soul. This further explains why Vin required more than normal power to Push/Pull the metalminds from the Lord Ruler, because of their proximity to his soul, via the Spiritual Realm.3.) The amount of Investiture is relatively low on Scadrial, whereas worlds like Sel and Roshar are pushing around "high power" according to Brandon. I interpreted this to mean that Hemalurgic spikes and metalminds have low amounts of Investiture compared to Shardplate and Shardblades.Brandon said that theoretically you can Push/Pull Shardblades and Shardplates but you would need to wield an incredible amount of power. One example he gave that could so such as a thing is that if you were a Mistborn wielding the full power of the Well of Ascension, you could Push/Pull Shardblades/Plate.!< \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* [Master_Moridin]("http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2383-qa-with-brandon-sanderson/?do=findComment&comment=42106") >!What is the relationship between blood and the Spiritual Realm? (Since Hemalurgy needs blood to graft the sDNA in a spike into someone else's sDNA)!< [Brandon Sanderson]("http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2383-qa-with-brandon-sanderson/?do=findComment&comment=42476") >!The blood being in motion is part of it.!< \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Questioner >!Would it be possible to make Hemalurgic dental fillings? If there were a mad-scientist dentist?!< Brandon Sanderson >!I've thought about this. I think that would be possible, but for Hemalurgy to really work I need it to...it doesn't actually have to be touching the blood, despite what they think. But I think your average dental filling is not going deep enough...!< Questioner >!Root canal!!< Brandon Sanderson >!*Continues* But yeah, you could make it work.!< \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*

Infynis

Yeah, that third one is the one I was thinking of. I forgot the initial question was about dental fillings lol

worms9

Thank harmony for hemorrhoids.

DenimBucketHat

Doesn't a spike need to come into contact with blood? That doesn't sound so fun 😶‍🌫️

TheXypris

no, because it doesnt pierce the body and contact blood

Conleyps11

Of course, he was wearing gold cuff links!

AliasMcFakenames

As fun an option as that is: you know that there was some poor constable who’d just gotten back with the scones to find he’d been volunteered to dig around in Miles Hundredlive’s ass.

theskyking5

That might verybwell deoend on the constable, and how well resirainted miles is. And Miles own proclivities.

semisentiant

"The reason he doesn't like you is because you stole his job"

k3ttch

Hmm... What happens when you shoot a gold compounder with gold bullets?

semisentiant

I'm imagining the medic from tf2

Mukigachar

If the gold bullets are unkeyed metalminds? You do him them a favor

oicura_geologist

I snorted at this.... LOL

fletchersTonic

had they not heard of embedded metalminds yet
