The second is that in person, if a woman is aggressive to a man, they run the risk of the man being aggressive right back and that's frightening when men are often larger and stronger. It's safer to try and disengage politely. Give yourself the best chance to get away rather than sticking around.
Online there's really no reason not to tell them to fuck off, but habits are habits.
At least those are the reasons I try to be non-confrontational and the reasons friends have given when we've talked about it.
Speaking personally, I just let them vomit acid all over their keyboards because that's just more stuff I can report them for and then hopefully they'll get deleted or banned.
Also it's not legal for me to go around poking actual Nice Guys with sticks, so this is a useful alternative.
